A two story condo, quaint enough for a small family. In the second story there are basically three bedrooms. One is, of course, the master bedroom where John resides. The two bedrooms are more smaller but they are comfy enough. The bedroom on the far corner away from the master bedroom is Angel's bedroom. This room is used during the times when she spends the night or during the holidays when she can't go home. The room inbetween John's room and Angel's is now Kathryn's room. In the first floor there is a room at the far end. Not as big as Angel's and Kathryn's room, but it's cozy. This room is John's office where most of his professional business takes place. He's usually found there most of the day unless he's spending time with his daughter. Going passed the staircase there is the family room with one long couch that goes from one end of the room the other. Across from this couch is the 32" flat screen television. To the left of the family room is the kitchen. In the center of the kitchen is a small island where most of the meals are eaten. It's a cozy place to live, and will always have the welcome aroma of orchids. Just don't forget to take off your shoes before stepping into the house.

Kathryn sat spread on the couch flipping through channels. She was happy to just relax and spend time watching tv though it still felt odd to her that she could watch whatever she wanted without the other kids changing the channel on her like she didn't even exist. The rule at the orphanage had been that the first person in the tv room controlled the channels, but that had never been the case with Kathryn. She was always ignored and if she said anything about watching something she was kicked out of the way. Now to just lounge about felt nice.

A wide yawn came of out John's mouth as he stepped out of his office and headed towards the kitchen. The sounds of the television brought a smile to his lips. In the kitchen, he had began to pour himself a cup of freshly brewed coffee. After taking a sip, his mind went back to the week before when he had finally finished the last of the adoption papers and procedures. And now finally his daughter was allowed to be home. With a smile on his lips, he flicked his wand and watched as pots, pans, and pancake mix flew to the stove that had turned itself on. Breakfast was now being prepared. Heading into the family room, his eyes wandered over to the small stack of boxes that still remained. Today, he and his new daughter Kathryn had planned to spend the whole day fixing up her new room however way she wanted it to. But there was one person missing. Looking at his watch, John wondered where his cousin was. Angel had been so excited for this day since mentioning it to her yesterday. But then she had gone off to visit Erin and hasn't been home since. Looking over at his daughter, John walked over and sat beside her. He brought an arm around her and embraced her tenderly. "Sleep well, sweetheart?" he asked then took a sip of his coffee.

Kathryn smiled up at him sitting up. She was so happy to finally be away that she was brimming with smiles. "I slept fine, I just can't believe I'm finally here." She tucked her feet under her flipping the tv off. "Though it does feel odd. I can't help but think of all the changes. I did expect Angel to be here though."

John chuckled as his daughter spoke the words he had been thinking for the past few days. "Yeah, me too. It's going to take some time to adjust to this, but it's all worth it in the end," he explained, kissing the top of Kathryn's head. John looked at his reflection in the now turned off television. He was wearing his eye patch again, having lost his sight in his left eye again a couple days ago. But it was fine, just fine. "Angel went to visit Erin at his new apartment. She told me that she would be back in time for the three of us to work on your room. You have any ideas on how you would like to decorate it?" he asked, bringing his complete attention to the daugher in his arms.

Hikari had decided to go and see John. She had been a bit busy, having gotten caught up in a few things with her mother and father in the last few days. However, it was quickly smoothed over and now here she was, walking up the walkway to his front door. She had apparated to the bottom of the walk, not wanting to be too forward as to completely apparate at the door or into the home. After she got to thte door, she smiled and knocked, almost unable to wait to see the love of her life.

Kathryn got up off the couch smiling. "I want it to be purple, and have flowers. I'm so excited about this dad, I've never done anything like this and I want it to be perfect. Are you sure you're up to it?" Kat looked up at John's eye patch. She had been around when it started giving him problems again the other day and she wished she could help.

John mulled her words in his mind. Dad. I'm really going to have to get use to this soon. he thought with a smile then knelt down in front of his little girl. "I wouldn't have it any other way. And come on, give your dad some credit. I am only twenty-two for crying out loud," he jested then kissed Kathryn on the forehead. At that moment, he heard a knock on the door. Wondering if it was Angel, John stood up and headed to the door, picking Kathryn up into his arms. "You know, sweetie, you're pretty light for a thirteen year old," he said with a chuckle as he made his way to the door. After he unlocked the padlock, John pulled the door open to a beautiful sight that made his heart beat faster. "Hikari!" he exclaimed, wrapping his free arm around his love so that she was in his warm embrace. After giving her a quick peck on the lips, John pulled away and then looked from his love to his daughter. "Hika, you know my daughter, Kathryn, right?" he said, sending a kiss to Kathryn's cheek. He had this euphoric feeling in his blood as he looked from the woman that had his heart to his daughter. It just felt so right.

Hikari laughed as she quickly hugged John as well, so glad that she was seeing him again. The few days apart had been too long. It didn't make her happy to be away from him for so long, even if it was only a few days. She gave him a quick peck back before she rested her head against his shoulder, snuggling close as she turned to look at Kathryn. "Yes, of course I do. Hello Kathryn!" She said, smiling. "Has everything gone well with the move? If you need any help, I'd be happy to help. I love designing!" She said, happy that John had adopted Kathryn. It would be good for him.

Kathryn smiled as she let John hold her. "It's not my fault I'm small." She managed just before he opened the door. When she saw that it was Hikari she couldn't help but smile brighter. She loved how Hikari made John smile and she was always glad to see him smile. Hikari was also very nice and though it felt weird to have a Professor at her house she also had to remind herself that she was now calling her Head of House dad. "Hi Hikari, we could use all the help you can give. I've never done this before." She gave a small wave from John's arms her eyes showing more joy than they had her entire life.

John just couldn't help but feel happy. Except that one other female in his life was missing. And it was beginning to worry him. Just then a whirring sound came from the kitchen, signaling that breakfast was ready. "Come on in. You're in time for breakfast. Kathryn go wash up before you have your breakfast," he said, bringing her down to the floor and pushed her very gently towards the direction of the guest bathroom. He then wrapped an arm around Hikari's waist and kissed her deeply. "I missed you," he whispered when he pulled away and smiled. A thought had suddenly popped into his mind, as well as a flashback from during the days when the adoption agency had questioned him on whether he was fit to be a father. There was only one part of the interview that made the agency feel nervous about him. Not for long. John was going to make sure of it. So while waiting for his daughter, John led Hikari into the kitchen and towards the small island where hotcakes were ready to be eaten.

Hikari smiled wider as she saw how John interacted with Kathryn. They had gotten so close in the summer already. She was glad that John had that kind of connection with someone, especially someone like Kathryn. At his kiss, she blushed, the red tinging her cheeks as she responded. kissing him back. When he pulled back, she sighed happily. He always gave the best kisses. "I've missed you too." She said, reveling in the attention he was giving her. However, she was thrown off for a few moments as John mentioned breakfast. She blinked. Oh dear...She had intruded on breakfast. "I don't want to be a bother..." She murmured as she walked the way he had led her.

John let out a hearty laugh, hugging Hikari from behind. "You? A bother? Never," he stated, hugging her close to his chest now. In the kitchen, the pots and pans were levitating to the dishwasher. The plates were now flying off the cabinets and landed in front of the four chairs around the island. "Breakfast was just starting. I was going to wait for Angel but I figured that the girl was going to spend some time with Erin. Or maybe run off to see Nathaniel. Ever since that girl passed her Apparition test, she's been going in and out of the house a lot. But she still has enough time to be with Kathryn," he explained, beginning to fill Kathryn's plate with food. He then looked over at Hikari, motioning the plate of hotcakes towards her to see if she wanted some. In his mind, he was thinking about the ideas he had. Especially the one about her moving in.

Hikari smiled, laughing gently as she heard his laugh. When he laughed, it was contagious, it was a beautiful sound to hear. Giggling as John wrapped his arms around her from behind, she was ticklish after all, she leaned her head back against his shoulder again, her own arms wrapping around his. "If you're sure. Your food smells wonderful." She complimented him as she listened to what he had to say. Laughing, she nodded. "I'm sure she's having fun right now, just like every other kid out there who has passed that test." She said, looking up at him. "I'm glad you decided to adopt Kathryn. You're so good to her...As father and daughter you two match well." She said, smiling as she summoned a plate and picked up a few hotcakes.

"On it." Kathryn smiled as John put her down. As soon as he let her go she started towards the bathroom. She couldn't believe what a hard time the agency had given John when he had first come to adopt her. It had taken most of the summer and they had come up with more and more things to stop the progress. When he had first walked in the fact that he was half blind had concerned them. When he assured them that it was no problem that he was a professor and leader at the school Kathryn attended sat in the concern about having a professor adopting her. Their final complaint was that he was single but they had to admit that the orphanage was getting full and he was as good a candidate as any that had come for Kathryn. Now she quickly scrubbed her hands and face before drying off and then going back to the kitchen. "It all smells so good."
