Not far from a graveyard stands an old church, amazingly untouched. People gather here as a fortress to protect them from the dark creatures.

[[Somewhere in a dark corner of the abandoned church]]
A silhouette of man could be seen through the little moonlight shining through the window. Although this person possessed the physical structure of human, something about him just didn't felt human. At first look he may seem human...but upon closer inspection would tell differently. His eyes...each a different colored seemed to glow with a certain power. " Go sightseeing for me will you, Zoul ??" the man said to his bat which just appeared at his side upon hearing it's name. The bat,Zoul, fluttered out through a tiny opening in the church's window.

Gilvan had been guarding the church for some time now. He kept the survivors in the basement safe from the creatures outside. It was his responsibillity along with Aroura to make sure each one was individually cared for. What he had not noticed was the figure in the corner. He adjusted the toothpick that he had in his teeth and walked up near the corner. He was curious to see how this person was doing. "Ay, lad, what you be doing way up e're when you could be downstairs with the others? We're bout to have our evening meal, figured ye'd want to take part."

The man looked up at this person who had so boldly walked up to him...Not many had that courage since the aura radiating around him basically said "stay away".... But through Zoul...He knew they would come here eventually...He just stared at the man...not sure what to say...

(sorry if I can't always post..I have a major exam this year and ...)

The magical aura Gilvan sensed seemed to be different from his own. As Gilvan was basically in two places at once, it seemed this character was too, but in a different manner. Gilvan only possessed this abillity from Aroura, who taught him. The real him stood here in the church, while his twin was actually fighting just outside the church grounds. He could keep this up so long as he maintained focus and as long as he kept his energy sources going. He wasn't as much into magick as Aroura, but he knew he had to know at least a little to withstand the harsh conditions of this so-called realm. As the person in front of him stared blankly, Gilvan thought it best to give him a little bit of room to release the suppression they both seemed to be giving off to each other. "Sorry lad, didn't mean ta invade on ye. Anyway, whatcha name? Mine's Gilvan. I gaad the doors of this here church so everyones a bit more pretected."

*From train station

Zeke made his way past the barrier. There was an indescribable feeling as he passed through. It, at first, put him on his guard, but he let it in and then felt quite relaxed--safe. It felt good for him to be here now. "So...This is the--" he stopped mid-sentence when he saw what was inside. He squinted to make sure his mind was not playing tricks on him, then assuring himself he was sane, he spoke. "Gilvan, I knew you were fast, but...Seems I still underestimated you on quite a massive scale." He was baffled on a very massive scale, in all kinds of ways. "This must be what going mad feels like," he commented to himself. He turned back around and saw Gilvan holding Inferno approaching the church. He turned to find Gilvan again inside. "No...this must be what going mad feels like." He sat down, and hugged his knees close to his chest like a small child, or a lunatic.

Beni approached somewhat behind the rest of the group. He stood now at the barrier. He didn't get a good feeling, and he could now tell this was where it was. He stood upright, motionless, just thinking. He wouldn't say a word, just continue to stand there.

The robed Gilvan, who stood inside the church, turned around to meet Zeke, who obviously did not understand how two of himself were in existance at the moment. As he did so, he excused himself to the dark person he was originally talking to. He would wait until the entire party entered before continuing a conversation.

The Gilvan outside had led Inferno up the hill without any problems. He felt somewhat dissapointed, however, as he was hoping Inferno would test him along the way. He never got a better order than the one Inferno gave him. Regardless, he released his grip once he reached the barrier and stood back a little. He then stepped aside as Aroura made her way past him.

Before she would go through the barrier, she uncovered the ring from her hand and once again offered it to Beni. "There's go getting past this any other way. Trust me, you'll be alright."

Inferno looked at the barrier, unsatisfied. He did not believe this was anything else except a formidable scare tactic to force him into wearing more of her problematic jewelry. He'd just gotten control of the knife, so what makes her think he'll go for another round of this? He stepped through the barrier, but would soon regret it. Not knowing the aura that still surrounded him, and the knife he still held in his hands, refusing to put the ring on allowed the full-scale effect of the repellant to start taking effect. Inferno was suddenly engulfed in an extreme amount of pain upon reaching no further than a foot past the barrier. His skin and flesh burned, his eyes started to bleed, and his insides felt like they were swelling up and ready to explode. He screamed in pain and fell on the floor, bubbles forming on the surface of his exposed skin and unspeakable torture all around. It was when he finally landed flat on his face that Gilvan quickly stepped in and yanked him back outside to avoid the death factor. After a brief moment, Inferno slowely got back to his feet, and looked back to the barrier. It seemed he was mistaken on this account, and immediately started to put the ring on, missing several times in the process. He watched as Eragon passed through it effortlessly, and suffered no ill effect.

Beni thought again about taking the ring. He really wanted to do it, but his counterpart was still afflicted by it. He could not understand why, but there must have been a reason. He wouldn't bother raising his hand to take it as he knew he'd just be stopped yet again, so instead, he turned to the barrier, and decided to see if his counterpart would allow him passage. Maybe that would knock some sense into him? Maybe he'd be forced to remain outside, though. He took three steps--sufficient enough distance for Inferno to have been massively burnt--and let out a fierce groan. He fell to his knees briefly, with an expression of pain, but got back up, and turned around to reveal he was just fine. He looked to Aroura, who'd insisted he'd be dead by now, and flatly said,"Would you look at that."

Zeke had to remember for a second that magick was highly practiced in this realm. This realm that he knew to be nothing like Earth. He knew they were obviously not on the planet they once grew up in. He started trying to remember how he got here to begin with. It wasn't long before he just gave up. There was a part of him, obviously, that didn't want to remember. Certain details of his life beforehand were quite clear, though, even if he didn't want them to be. He looked at his hands, now. Burnt. Something of a mystery crossed his mind, though...it seemed they might have been less severe now than he thought they were. He thought that perhaps they were healing already, but he thought probably not. He thought it was his imagination. They certainly didn't feel as if they were getting any better.

Inferno's attempt on putting the ring on led to no success. In a burst of frustration and confusion, he took it and threw it to the ground, slamming the blade of his knife inches from the ring itself. "What... is... wrong with... me?" he asked aloud, unsure of why or to whom he intended it be asked.

Aroura noted how Beni seemed not to require the ring to enter. This brought a slight bit of concern, but after a moments thought, she understood how he did it. The primary effect the ring itself gave to the user was simply to supress the robust demonic aura that surrounded them, minimizing demonic abilities for a period of time until entering a neutral environment AKA, until they got past the repellent and entered the church. Seeing how Beni managed to supress himself without assistance only assured her he was not the type to do harm to anyone without reason, at least for now, she thought.

"Come on, lad, I know ye got it in ya, so make it happen." Gilvan knelt beside Inferno for a moment to pick up Inferno's ring, but never dared to touch the knife. He held out his hand to give Inferno the option, and awaited to see his decision.

Inferno picked himself up off the ground, and cleared his mind. This... whatever it was... was preventing him from entering what should be a normal church, and would not let him return to normal. As Aroura stepped over to him, he put up his clawed hand. "I got it. I just need a moment or two..." If he could manage to tame this being during the fight, surely, he thought, he could restrain it. He grabbed the ring from Gilvan, but still didn't put it on, rather, he placed it between his index finger and thumb and stared at it. Some way... he could do this, but he still wasn't too thrilled on trying out more of Aroura's trinkets.

*Eragon looked over to Inferno and Beni. Why did they have to make everything so difficult? All they had to do was put on a ring and step through. It can't get any easier than that! Still, he wanted to see if Inferno could make it through, ring or no ring.*

"This place..." Beni started. "I like it here. I feel light...unburdened. For once in my life I feel...free. I don't think I'm ever leaving this place." He walked over and gave Zeke a great big hug. His hands both touched the sword on his back, but with no ill effect. He was quite amazed at this.

Zeke was quite freaked out by this. He wasn't used to strangers giving him hugs, especially the kind that go berserk, and occasionally have attempted to kill him. But he put it all aside as his arms raised and embraced Beni. Beni quickly backed off and declared Zeke a f**, though. "The confusion continues," Zeke responded.

Inferno gathered the courage and handed the ring back to Gilvan. "I won't need this anymore... I can't... I need to do this alone. For my own sake." He closed his eyes as he thought back to his past, and how he had been since then. His mind turned to his comrades, his allies, and mostly, his friends. He released all tension he had in his muscles, and then cleared his mind of any obstacles, setting asside any ill thoughts that entered his mind and only thinking of being his best. As he did this, he slowely started to ease off and grow limp. His head lowered and his clenched fists opened up, but he still stood. The dark coloration of his skin started to lighten back and the claws he had extended, retracted, and proceeded to fade to normal fingers and bones. His hair returned to normal, exepting it was a tad messy, and the aching he had in his back ceased. As he opened his eyes again, they had returned to normal, as they were the last to change. He opened up his mouth and felt his teeth with his finger to find that he indeed was himself again. He felt relieved. As he braced himself to pass through the barrier, he took in a quick breath and exhaled it. He began to pass through it slowely, making every note of every feeling he experienced. Nothing happened. He continued through, heading straight to the church door. Gilvan followed him with a smile.

Aroura nodded with a slightly confused look on her face. "Well, guess they won't need the rings for that, at least." She caught up with the others, passing through the door and closing it behind everyone... They made it.

"Well, compared to what I just did, that was rather amazing." Zeke nodded his head to this in agreement. It had to have been completely different experience than what either of them had gone through, as Beni imagined. Zeke had little thought on the matter, as he'd soon find out.

Zeke didn't find it utterly amazing and interesting. He decided that while he could assume he was finally safe, that he should start working on his little 'project.' The blueprints were still in his head, but he could work off of it. He already had some of the parts assembled. This particular project was going to need a new clip design, and plenty of said clips. It would probably be his best creation to date.

The robed Gilvan, now seeing that his projection had successfully completed its task, allowed his clone to pass through his body and become part of him again, putting his energy to rest as he let out a sigh. "I neva get used ta that, but dam do I feel betta aftawords." He stepped up to greet the party, and compliment Aroura for another successful run.

Inferno could remember everything that happened now. The train incident, the Shadow King... all of it. Even though he had not been in control of himself then, he could remember every detail as it happened. Now that they were out of danger, he finally could get a good look on where they stood, why this so called 'realm' looked like something from an 'Armageddon' picture he saw, and most of all, what in hell was happening to him. "Aroura... that is your name from what I gather. I'm sorry I didn't ask you this earlier, but what the hell did you do to me!" His tone hightened the further in his statement he went. "I can understand we're in hell, as I gather, but this is rediculous!"

Aroura looked to Inferno, turning her head down slightly as she remembered what happened. "Ah... that. I'm sorry, Inferno, but it appears as though I had given you the wrong gem than I intentionally wanted to. I wanted to give you one that matched you codename, so I figured one that allowed you to channel your energy into fire forms would do the trick. However..." She stopped as she fiddled through the pouch she remembered she carried with her. She pulled out two green gems, though one was slightly darker than the other. "...each gem has corrasponding type. There's one type for those with more of a pure aura, and one for those with a... darker one."

Inferno put his hand up to stop her. "Wait..." He smiled as he couldn't believe he was actually starting to believe some of the things she said that he himself swore was nothing more than fantasy junk, but his current condition clearly stated differently. "You mean to tell me that you gave me some strange 'gem' that forced some kind of 'dark' crap into my body? ARE YOU CRAZY?"

Aroura fiddled with the two gems, hoping someone else understood her position. She had not intentended to give him a dark version of anything, but it seems as though Inferno believes she did it on purpose, assuming that he held a temper that related to someone who was 'dark'.

Beni looked over when he'd heard Inferno speaking. "You've got a lot to learn. They're just slightly different colors, I could see how it could have been a mistake, but regardless of that: Do not think for a second that 'dark' is bad. A dark power is only as good or as evil as the user. Would you refuse to know others' pain and frustrations? You're not the only one with this particular affliction. There are positives to it. FIND THEM." He turned away, then.

Zeke had been meaning to have a talk with Beni in private. But it seemed now was as good a time as being alone. "Beni...I know you're suffering. I can tell you distanced yourself from everyone and everything because you used to speak like an automaton. 'We are' not 'We're' if you get what I'm saying. You seem to have quickly picked up on our speech patterns, though...so very desperate for company...so lonely...But you couldn't bring yourself to ingratiate yourself with anyone for fear of what you might do at moments when you get out of control. You're afraid to hurt someone...Now you're with people who can defend themselves when things go bad...That must be such a burden...But I know your pain..."

"...f**..."

"A lot to learn?" Inferno was confused, off guard of the once silent Beni.

"I know what he means, commander. Although the power within your gem seems to have conflicted with your fluctuating auras, it appears to have taken on an identity of its own as its own separate 'demon'. Sometimes, you show yourself as the hero you are, others, you show yourself as the villan you are. Your focus has been bouncing around from both so many times that you don't even know who you really are anymore. Once you focus yourself into one person, you'll know for a fact if your fit for that power or not. If a 'hero' were to wield dark power haphazardly, he will only find himself in failure. However, if he were to wield the powers he was meant to use, he would find himself in honor, recieving statues as monuments of his greatly achieved victories."

Inferno remained silent, taking in Aroura's and Beni's statements and explanations and putting them together. "Hmm... find my identity, huh..."

"There have been few cases where a hero has accidently aquired an additional power other than his own that turned out to be dark, but was able to control it as part of himself and use this dark power as a powerful tool. Indeed, Beni was right, but the same can be applied if you focus yourself and learn to control the gift you were given. You hold power over that gem. It shouldn't be the other way around. If you learn to control it, then it can become your most powerful asset in you arsenal." A thought stumbled into her head as she thought back to Shadow and how Beni had resisted the will spell so successfully. "Perhaps... you could even use it to help you get past the notorious will conflicting spell the Shadow King uses. Switching to another set of 'wits' should be able to throw him off so long as he doesn't realize the pattern. I'm not sure it would work, but one of these days, we should try it. Well... at least you should if you decide to keep that power.
