it was one of those days
with sunshine so bright
it almost cured the dampness
in their eyes where they spun silk
for her. a princess...priceless
pointless
she cried
glancing at an angle
the world turned black and white
like the slow shut down
where metal met skin
greeted gunpowder....and scalp
invited it in
powerless
she spun
and dropped
like a commoner.
a moment in that sunshine she spent
hazy, eyelids kissing rapidly
before lashes would lock them together
forever, and she shut the door and swallowed the key
swiftly
she was set free
but not entirely.
the swallows flew away at the noise
leaving her with only the lies
on top of the synonymous earth
she toppled to. and with no guide
she eroded into rays of light reflecting
she sold her soul to see
'cause when I reach out to her
her fingers stretch forward in plea
remarkably
she survived
in me.
