" Care for a drink? "
PostPosted: Sun Aug 23, 2009 4:04 pm

~Emily A. Wixom~

Emily sat at a table strait as a pin barely sipping her firewhiskey. Usually she didn't drink but it had been a long week and if Angela Yelsah's visions were correct it was going to be an even longer day. Since the day school started Emily had had to stay on her toes because that's when Atticus Jeremy Travis appeared in her life again and this reappearance of him had been the main reason of her stress because with him he brought the watchful and disapproval eye of the Ministry of Magic because she was a 19 year old Deputy Headmistress through no choice of her own. Her Ravenclaws had also all seemed to be brain dead and were getting into trouble left and right and now she had word of a massacre in Hogsmeade and the possible death of a student who she didn't know the exact target because the girl with the vision didn't know her but she had her fears and prayed she was wrong. Now the 19 year old red head sat sipping a firewhiskey and just trying to brace herself for what she knew lay ahead. She had asked Marketa to stay behind and help at the school because Conan hadn't returned her letter about the massacre warning and she needed all the help she could with the students in Hogsmeade but she needed staff at Hogwarts to watch the first and second years as well. Johnathan, Daniel, Atticus, and Maxwell had been at the top of her list to bring to Hogsmeade because of how they were. John she wouldn't have left behind if her life depended on it because he was the one that could help the most even if he was half blind. She had taken all the precautions she could and now she just had to pray it was enough and that Conan had actually gotten her letter and would just show up. She had thought of saying those with detention couldn't come but most of them had detention with one of the teachers she really needed in Hogsmeade so she had ruled that out.

Alex walked into the shop and sat down with some of her homework as she ordered a butter bear. She had resisted the temptation to go into Honey Dukes because she really needed to keep the sweets to a minimum. She saw the Deputy Headmistress and shot her an look of acknowledgment before burrying herself in her homework that seemed like it was a mountain and a half high.

Trixy walked in and sat a a near by table. She ordered a cherry syrup and soda with ice and an umbrella. She sat there sucking her straw, wishing she had someone to talk to.

Scarlett Eaves

Scarlett walked into the Three Broomsticks, clutching her sweets bag, and found a table near two other female students, smiling at the Deputy Headmistress as she walked past her. She ordered a Butterbeer, and sipped on it contentedly, enjoying the rich flavor, but all the while feeling strangely lonely. It had never bothered her much to be alone on Hogsmeade trips, but this year seemed to be different. She turned her gaze to the table in front of her where a blonde-haired girl from Ravenclaw sat at, looking just as lonely as she felt. Meeting her gaze, she gave her a friendly smile.

~Emily A. Wixom~

As soon as the screams started on the street Emily was on her feet with her wand at the ready. She spun to face the entrance to the shop her blue eyes blazing like firey ice as she prepared to go forward. She ignored the gasp of protest from Madam Rosmerta about drawing wands in her shop and started toward the door. Taking one look around the shop she saw there were a fair amount of students in the shop. "I can't speak for everyone else, but Hogwarts students are to stay here until further instructions from a Professor are given. Failure to follow these instructions will get you expelled because this is a serious matter." Emily's voice was not the sweet and kind piece that usually spilled from her lips but a firm tone that threatened with every syllable. She then turned to Madam Rosmerta. "Sorry Rosmerta, I have lots of teachers on it." She said more in her normal voice before she stepped out of the shop and onto the street. She saw the death eaters and her blood ran hot as memory's of Headmistress Walkers and Sunrise Addams' deaths ran through her mind. Sunrise had been one of her best friends and Voldemort and his followers had tormented her school and destroyed her life even more.

As soon as the screams were heard from the street, Scarlett leapt up from her chair, nearly knocking over what was left of her Butterbeer in the process, and stared out the window towards Honeydukes with widened eyes. Professor Wixom barked out instructions in a deathly threatening voice, a stark contrast to her usually kind demeanor before heading out into the street to deal with the Death Eaters. Death Eaters in Hogsmeade; Scarlett could scarcely believe it. After Voldemort's demise, the wizarding world thought they'd seen the end of them, but it seemed these merely wanted to cause death and destruction of their own volition. Scarlett had the huge urge to run out into the street after the Deputy Headmistress and assist with the battle; after all, she was planning on becoming an Auror. Professor Wixom's warning rang in her ears, though, and Scarlett did not want to be expelled. She felt useless sitting around and waiting for the battle to end, but she knew as a mere student, she could inadvertently complicate matters for the adults, something they could really do without. Nevertheless, she kept staring out the window and watched for an opportunity to help.

Alex had spilled half her butter beer down her robes when the screaming started. Quickly drying herself off she got to her feet and looked out the window with Scarlett. She saw the eagerness to help in the girls face and put a hand on her shoulder. "She wouldn't tell us to stay in if it wasn't for safety reasons I guess but it's still hard to stay put isn't it?"

Scarlett turned to look at the Slytherin girl and saw the concern and anxiousness on her face that must've been written all over her own face as well. "I don't like sitting around helpless," Scarlett explained, agreeing with what the girl had said. I've done that far too much in my life. I know she told us to stay put for a reason, but it's so hard to not do anything, especially when so many lives are in danger."

Alex nodded at Scarlett's words. "I'm also a prefect so it makes it that much harder that I can't help out when it involves the school since so many of the kids are in the village. Well think of it this way, maybe some of them will come in here. Then we can help because Professor Wixom didn't say a word about not fighting them if they came in here." She knew this was a long shot but she also figured that the deatheaters would want to terrorize everywhere they could and the Three Broomsticks was a popular place.

Scarlett considered Alex's words, and found the logic in them. The Three Broomsticks was not a small place, so if they needed a bigger fighting space, it would be a welcome change from the reduced space of Honeydukes and from the narrow streets of Hogsmeade. Scarlett looked around and saw some other students in there, petrified in fear, so Scarlett said to Alex, "I'm also a prefect, so if they come in here, we need to act fast and disarm them, Stun them, Confund them, just render them helpless so the professors can take care of them. Are you with me?"

Alex nodded as she listened to Scarlett. She resented being told what to do by another student but the girl was a year ahead and she was just pointing out the obvious. Alex looked out the window again. "Who do you think is in there?" She couldn't help but wonder how she would feel if she was there. She had after all been tempted to go there and if she had been there when the attack started would she have been able to act? Would she have been too terrified to move and been attacked herself? She also couldn't help but wonder how many students really were in there. It seemed that Professor Wixom had ordered teachers at each of the shops so she wondered which Professor was there as well.

Scarlett looked thoughtfully towards Honeydukes and responded, "When I was in there, there were only 2 boys in there, but I think I saw Professor Yelsah and his daughter and some other Slytherin girl go in there when I left. I'm not sure if the boys left." Scarlett suddenly realized how close she was to have been a part of the bedlam and mayhem that was now occurring in the sweets shop. She shuddered slightly at inadvertently being in the frontlines of the sneak attack.

Alex looked at Scarlett her eyes wide. She was glad that Professor Yelsah had been the one there when it happened because he was a professionally trained auror and best for the job but his daughter being there would terrify the crap out of both Professor Yelsah and his daughter. "Oh I can't help but hope that not too many people from the school in there. Did you see which Slytherin?" Alex hoped slightly it was Mary Austin but then felt bad for thinking that. Nobody deserved to go through that shock, even Mary Austin.

Scarlett thought for a bit. Although she had rarely spoken to anyone in all her 7 years at Hogwarts, she knew people's names, even ones in other houses, so she vaguely remembered that Slytherin girl's name to be-- "Mary Lou Austin,"Scarlett responded, confidently.
