Halo: Reach was announced, which appears to be a prequel to all the Halo events. "You know the end."

Also shown was gameplay footage, which debuts the story about three different ODSTs, possibly more, and shows off a new mode called "Firefight," which is a cooperative mode where you hold out for as long as you can against Covenant troops. To replace the shield aspect, you have a health bar at the top that you can only replinish by grabbing health packs.

With a purchase of this game, you will receive an invitation to the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta, much like Crackdown except chances are you won't resell it when the beta goes away.

Halo ODST is due to hit stores September 22 of this year. Halo: Reach is due for launch next year.
