Ok, so, untill i actually set this up, what it'll be is basically, we do several tournaments over the summer that i will sponser (along with others because of my low gold count). This type of tournament will be simillar to the non competetive "Region Wars" Wifi Battle fights . The way these will be set up will be as follows:
OmniRule- ABSOLUTLEY NO HACKED , OR UNNATURAL MOVESETS, OR ABILITIES
Tournament 1 : Region- Kanto Rules: 1) no legends (mewtwo, mew, articuno, zapdos, or moltres) 2 )All moves known by these pokemon can only be those known in the origional Red, Blue , or Yellow Games (I will look for this list, and post a link to it when the time comes) 3) All pokemon used must be pokemon obtainable in said region during the pokemon games listed
Tournament 2: Region- Johto Rules: 1) no legends (mewtwo, mew, articuno, zapdos, moltres, lugia, ho-oh, Raiku, Suicune, Entei, or celebi) 2 )All moves known by these pokemon can only be those known in the origional Gold, Silver , or Crystal Games (I will look for this list, and post a link to it when the time comes) 3)All pokemon used must be pokemon obtainable in said region during the pokemon games listed
Tournament 3: Region- Hoen Rules: 1) no legends (mewtwo, mew, articuno, zapdos, moltres, lugia, ho-oh, Raiku, Suicune, Entei, celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Regice, Registeel, Regirock Jirachi, Latios, Latias, or Deoxys*) 2 )All moves known by these pokemon can only be those known in the origional Ruby, Saphire , or Emerald Games (I will look for this list, and post a link to it when the time comes) 3)All pokemon used must be pokemon obtainable in said region during the pokemon games listed
Final Tournament 4: Region- Sinnoh Rules: 1) no legends (mewtwo, mew, articuno, zapdos, moltres, lugia, ho-oh, Raiku, Suicune, Entei, celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Regice, Registeel, Regirock, Jirachi, Latios, Latias, Deoxys*, Arceus, Regigigas, Darkrai, Cresselia, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina*, Shaymin*, Mespirit, Azelf, Uxie, Manaphy, or Phione) 2 )All moves known by these pokemon can only be those known in the origional Diamond, Pearl , or Platinum Games (I will look for this list, and post a link to it when the time comes) 3)All pokemon used must be pokemon obtainable in said region during the pokemon games listed
All Tournaments will take place over 1 week (most likely the middle week of a month) And will be one tournament a month so as to allow time for team formation. Any and all assistance in the setting up of this tournament (prizes , bracket forming etc.) will be greatly appreciated.
Please Post your opinions below to I can see if you like this idea or not.
*- This Includes all 2 or more forms of this Pokemon

dustelemental instead of legends make it ubers after that i like it lol I agree with Dustelemental. Certain legendaries are okay in regards to the competitive environment. Ubers are bad though which includes Mewtwo and similar Pokemon.
Also, I think it might be really difficult to have just moves from Kanto. This gives a disadvantage against the Psychic Pokemon like Alakazam or Mr. Mime where nothing was really able to stop them at one point unless you got a lucky hit on them. Also, the Dragonite is a must then where he dominates many who don't have a good ice type.
I'm just giving suggestions. It's hard to follow the trends of the old games when so many Pokemon had unfair advantages or weaknesses.
@ Lord Martini: post why you don't like something in one post please. Let's not have three word post with no explanation when it could be explained a post before.

Well I could add a non ubers rule too it if you wanted. This is just a loose idea. I thought having the move sets tacked down for the generations would add a certain challenge to the tournaments.

Then you try to take out my Alakazam when it's killing all of your Gengars, Aerodactyls, Charizards, Slowbros, Lickitungs, Chanseys, and Porygons. Try to take out my Dragonite when you can only use a Articuno and a few special attacking water types to kill him with Ice Beam.
I'm not trying to be a jerk Animega. I'm just giving you a scenario where people will be jerks unless you take off a restriction or put more in place.

Thats why I asked for criticism . and like we talked about in school, I'm thinking about the moveset idea, and in order to make up for the ubers of the origionals, I'll make it so the movesets are those of the Pokemon FireRed, and LeafGreen Games so there won't be as much hardship

Numbur_9, if you do read it I'm just going to give my opinion in that post. Please don't criticize my posts. That's getting really annoying, and I think there should be a different way moves should be setup. For the Kanto region, you could adopt some moves from the newer versions, but just a few, and as you go up a region, moves from the region before should be added. The legendary list also bothered me, since not all of them aren't ubers.

One post > two posts unless you're responding. Now you're actually telling us in a more in-depth way why you disagree. It shouldn't have to take three posts though. You know this. That's it for being off-topic. @ Animega: Now you've got something that works a little more. It will still be hard to work this out for some but it's your tournament. Remember that moves like Dark Pulse, Shadow Claw, Energy Ball, and Flare Blitz came out later for some Pokemons' benefit. This will cause a shift in strategy for some. I'm still loving the region idea though. Why not have an all Kanto team competition and then a Johto team? ...That just got me thinking. Maybe we should exclude Johto Pokemon until Soul Silver and Heart Gold come out. It might be tough for some to come up with a team when some didn't have Colosseum, Gale of Darkness, or the GBA games. confused That or move the tournament to the future. Idk what to tell you there.

It basically boils down to the fact that this is just an idea (and a very rough one at that) I think mabey your right about moving it to the future, but Heart gold/ soul silver most likely won't be released to the US untill late summer, or early fall by which time eberyone will be busy with school (not to mention our members in other countries might not even get it when the US does).
I think mabey we could do one tournament at a time with regions, but i don't see how not doing a johto tourney will solve anything. If anything, it'll get people used to the pokemon they will see in HG/SS.
But I'm getting off topic. We can tinker with some more ideas, the summer is not yet in full swing, and we have time. If it really gets down to the wire we can just hold off untill we do find a way to work this out.
