Everything was looking the same as any other normal white dress wedding. She never wanted an average wedding; and that’s just what she would get.
It all had to be perfectly played out, no surprises. Her dress was simple, and a little plain. Just layer after layer of white silk fabric. With a small train that she could easily walk without assistance. The bouquet was a simple bunch of purple flowers, to match the braid of purple hair tucked behind her ear. The rest of her sandy blond hair was pinned into a bun, dead center on the back of her head. She was careful to keep her makeup simple too. Rosy pink gloss and a light smoky eye shadow to bring out her blue- gray eyes.
Lyza smiled to herself. It would be as perfect as she’d always dreamed. Though she wasn’t sure how she got David to agree to this. He had seemed delighted at the idea, when she brought it up.
And so it was decided. The ring ceremony would be… How you’d say… A little… Off. She wanted her wedding to go out with a bang.
There was a knock on the door, interrupting her thoughts. “Come in” She said, slightly irritated. She asked not to be disturbed until the very last minuet.
A short, plump, red haired woman came through the door. “The wedding will start soon dearest! Please hurry!” She smiled kindly at her.
Lyza sighed “I’ll be out very soon, give me just a few moments longer.”
The woman nodded once and left the room shutting the door quietly behind her.
“Time to dance…” Lyza took a deep breath and headed for the door.
The hallway from the back room to the front hall of the church was almost claustrophobically small.
The Grand hallway into the main auditorium was full of people. She could hear the music start to play and everyone stood and turned to look at her. It was all friends and family. But at the end of the walk way, there stood David, the love of her life. She planned to be with him until death, and even then their love would not let them part.
Lyza didn’t really remember walking down the aisle; it seemed more like floating to her.
The music ended as David took her hand.
The tiny ceremony of reciting well rehearsed vows went quickly.
“You may now kiss the bride” The pastor said in delight.
“But wait! What about the rings!” the youngest bride’s maid asked.
“You’ll see” Lyza and David replied in unison.
A puzzled look crossed the crowd’s faces, but no one objected, and the couple had their first magical kiss as man and wife.
A small boy stopped in front of the two, too let them take their rings.
Both Lyza and David bent over to retrieve their rings, and when they straitened back up, they had in their hands two small, shiny, silver, hand guns. Pressing the barrel of the gun to each other’s heads, the last thing either of them heard was “I love you.” beneath screams.
Chief Ward threw his paper down. “What a sad story, two lovers shooting each other down moments after they were legally declared Husband and wife.”
“Yeah, they really went out with a bang” a young officer beside him replied.
“Really went out with a bang…” Chief Ward repeated.
