After looking over much of the replies and votes, it seems like the majority of people are wanting this class-based RP system, which I am effectively dubbing

A.C.T. system.

What is A.C.T., you say? It's an acronym for:

Acumulative
Class
Turn-based

system.

This basically means that while you play in Lux et Umbra RPs, you are constantly building your character towards greater and greater heights.

In our first RP, Darkness Rising, you have the option of going either Light or Shadow in our exclusive faction-based style choices. Normally in an RP, you would choose evil or good, and roleplay against each other in a fashion that is kind of like play-fighting. In Lux et Umbra RPs, we strive to bring the RPG into RPing. Not only can you fight your friends, but within the Lux et Umbra storylines, you can fight against nefarious villains, insane superheroes, and chaos itself!

But I am getting ahead of myself. Most of you are wondering how to jump in the RP, or even get started. Well, I am working on (with damieri) the systems that will allow you not only to get rewarded with every post you make of a sufficient length with EXP, but also the tools needed to fight your peers or villains within the RP!

For example, most of the time you have someone posting "Ashodin makes an attempt at Damieri." then you have to wait for someone to respond, seeing if your attack landed or nothing happened. Well, in the A.C.T. system, you make your attack, then, based on your equipment, make a ROLL of 100-sided dice to see if you land a hit. Basic attack rolls with your fists will be set about at 75%. Here's an example below:

Ashodin makes a swing at the target dummy!
Ashodin rolled a 54%! (Since the roll was under the target roll, Ashodin makes a hit.)
Target Dummy's Hardened Body takes the blow with some damage.

Notice how the Target Dummy has an ability? I just made it up, but all classes will have abilities that can lessen damage, negate, or absorb specific types of attacks, making RPers' choose their type of attack against their enemy. Of course, villains will have abilities that are unknown, and players cannot metagame other players' abilities (example: I can't walk up to someone who uses a Firesword and pull out an Ice Shield unless I knew they had a Firesword beforehand.)

Most of you are wondering things like "Isn't that a kind of godmoding?" Godmoding is when you intentionally avoid an attack that should have hit or intentionally make sure an attack hits. Basically, in RP terms, it's overruling another player just to ensure you look better in the outcome.

The best way I can explain any of this to you is just to reveal a class itself:

The Lightforger is one who has made a pact with the powers of Light. He understands that through his body and his soul, he can conjure powerful energies of light to strike back as his foes.

Basic Class Sheet:

Quote:
Lightforger Class
Light-ID Faction Class

Abilities:
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. - CD: 5 Posts - The Lightforger can "commune" with Light and receive hints on where to go, info on Shadow-ID'd enemies, or regenerate his health in any source of light, be it artificial or sunlight, excepting the light he creates. Conversely, when faced with extreme darkness, it is incredibly hard for the Lightforger to sustain health. Catching a Lightforger down a dark alley is a wise move.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. - CD: 3 Posts - A basic laser attack with 45% chance to hit. Upon hitting, opponent must roleplay burning damage from the laser (minor), and Shadow-ID'd opponents must roll under 85% or be unable to Shadowpact for 3 Posts.

These are the basic first two abilities for the Lightforger class (icons for abilities coming forth). You may be wondering about the CD. That's "cooldown". Abilities will have a certain amount of posts before you can use them again, to avoid them being overused and totally breaking the game.

With the Lightbeam ability, it has the capability of shutting down an opponent's Shadowpact. But who can use Shadowpact? That's another class reveal for another time. whee

I hope you watch for the next article concerning the item system!
