NAME OF LOCATION -F'vau
DESCRIPTION -
F'vau is a Class H (Desert) planet similar to Setahk, Suhall, and various other planets located within the Beta Quadrant. The planet orbits within the habitable zone of its star, and has a slow rate of rotation. However, it rotates backwards in comparison to its fellow planets, of which most are cratered rocky bodies unfit for colonization, or massive gas giants. This backward rotation is suspected to be caused by a massive impact at some point during the planet's formation.
F'vau is a Romulan word literally meaning "here." The planet's slow rate of rotation creates blistering (yet tolerant) temperatures during the daytime hours, and frigid nights that require shelter to survive adequately. It is one of the last places any Romulan Officer would wish to be assigned, however, with Beta Cestus III being the only other Romulan-held body in the Beta Quadrant, chances are that officers not assigned to ships or Beta Cestus III will wind up "here" for quite some time...
Due to the incredibly harsh climate, the Romulans operate a prison complex here, however it is nothing like the barricaded and virtually inescapable Omega Penal Colony only a few sectors away. Large generators buried under the ground produce electromagnetic interference that scrambles transporter locks, making escape virtually suicidal unless extreme measures are taken ahead of time.
LOCATION - Planet F'vau is located in Sector J-11.
PEOPLE -
There are no people native to this rocky planetary body, however the Romulans have set up many surface facilities. They are all under command of Commander V'renek, and are considered more prone to violent outbursts due to the discomfort of the climate. While the Romulans may have descended from the Vulcans and originated on Vulcan, Romulus is a lush Class M Planet with much greenery, and Romulan society has grown accustomed to these surroundings.
CLIMATE -
The climate on F'vau varies greatly during the day and night. Daytime temperatures border on fatal around the equator, while nighttime temperatures are just as deadly if inhabitants do to dress for the temperature shift. Very little rain falls on F'vau, but when it does, it pours, and flash floods are common in great floodplains that scour the surface of the planet. Only during this time does any greenery form, and only in the upper reaches of the northern and southern hemispheres.
RESOURCES -
The planet itself is rich in Tritanium ore, while the other rocky bodies orbiting the parent star are pocked with deposits of Duranium. These two resources are indispensable in the creation of starship hulls, and as such, it is no surprise why the Romulans have taken control of this system.
