Welcome to Academy X

Seven months ago, in the 620 Universe, human and mutant relations seemed to be getting better on the planet Earth. That was until the horrifying events that occurred six months ago. One fateful night, after a long absence from the limelight, Magneto appeared above New York. Finally driven to insanity, he unleashed an attack on New York which killed 2.5 million innocent civilians both human and mutant.

The X-Men, Fantastic Four, Avengers, and any other hero in New York City fought Magneto and his Brotherhood back and stopped them from doing any more damage. This was not the end of the conflict. SHIELD, a United Nations sanctions organization, found Magneto and his Brotherhood to be a threat. When Magneto and his team fled to the Island of Genosha, SHIELD unleashed several Sentinels with a seek and destroy order. The citizens of Genosha would not allow for their leader to be destroyed. Five million mutants died in this conflict as Genosha was scorched and left for rubble. Magneto was presumed dead.

Despite Magneto being presumed dead, the human vs. mutant conflict was escalated to the highest peak. Mutants were hunted. Children were cornered.

It was time for the X-Men to act. For many years, the Xavier Institute served as a home and school for children and teenagers who desired to learn about their abilities and train to be X-Men. No longer. To look impartial, Charles Xavier stepped down as head master of his school and appointed two opposing mutants as headmasters: Scott Summers and Emma Frost.

The Xavier Institute (or "Academy X" as newer students call it) was now open to all students as a safe house. Even if students didn't want to become X-Men or even if they did not share the Xavier view, the Xavier Institute would protect and teach each student equally.

"Academy X" was now open to everybody.

-------------------

What to do on your student's first day at the school:

The school students upon entering are given a counselor and a student squad to train with. Upon meeting with their counselor on day one, they are given their class schedule, communicator device, student ATM card, student hand book, and digital key.

What is the difference between the New Mutants and Hellions:

Technically there is no difference between each team in the school; however, the New Mutants are traditionally the "good guys" who believe in Xavier's ideals. The Hellions are traditionally more rogue/bad boys and fall more into the Magneto/mutant supremacy view. This is not always the case, though. You don't HAVE to make your character take those views when on either of those teams.

New Mutants team colors are Blue and Gold. Hellions are Black and Red.

------------

Story XI Summary

After returning from Muir Island, the students walked into another moment of awkwardness.... the end of the school year spring prom. Time to find dates and bad formal wear.

New Mutants: The Island..... and Home

Evie felt unsettled. There was no other way to describe it. The only thing in her heart was that it was time to go home. But Emma would have the say on that. The air changed and Evie smiled as Bella joined her outside.

"We stopped being kids as soon as we became mutants," Evie said matter of factly. With a smirk she responded, "But it suits us well. I never felt like a kid to begin with."

She put her arms around Bella and laughed, "Yes, but at least I look half a foot taller. I think we should have a nice long talk when we get back with Mr. Summers about us being all grown up now. We need to stop these things from happening to our team."

The students remained on the island for another two days. They were tested by Moira for any other symptoms and they had to remain on shore. Things went quiet.... for once. On their final day remaining, Emma Frost offered all of Moira's students a spot at the Xavier Institute if they so desired to relocate to the United States for study. It was a good faith gesture for a job well done and to offer training to those who need more.

The flight back home was uneventful. Quiet. Maybe that was a good thing for all of them. Of course, getting back to the Institute was going to be mass hysteria for their senses. It was the end of the semester. Students were going crazy.... and Prom was in the air. The fliers for it were almost thrown at them as soon as they stepped back onto the ground (which Evie thought about kissing for a moment.... home seemed too good).

"Amazing... from one uncomfortable situation for some of these guys to another..." Evie muttered walking past the flier to her dorm room.

Siona didn't remember much of the last two days. She was pretty sure that sitting on the beach she finished a bottle of Jack Daniels and didn't kill herself walking on the rocks luckily. She also believed she might have smacked a seagull in the skull with the bottle as she tossed it out into the sea. Somewhere in the blur was a poker game where somebody lost a lot of clothing. She was pretty sure it wasn't herself. But she may have gotten frisky with somebody... she wasn't sure. It could have been somebody else. Half the time was a fuzzy blur. But she did know she wound up with about a thousand dollars in winning and a hangover not even Elixir could cure on the flight home.

Needless to say, Siona didn't take kindly to almost being killed for probably the tenth time in a year by some ego tripping villain. A three day drinking binge usually cured her evils. So stepping back onto the Institute grounds was like a breath of fresh air. Looking around at the sites, her perfectly happy grin returned to her face. Everything on Muir Island stayed there, and that was how she was planning on keeping it. The past rarely haunted her and it wasn't going to start.

Grabbing the flier off the wall she read it to Forellen before they moved off to their dorm to unpack, "Now this... is going to be fun. Wonder who my victim is this year."

As usual, I think you’re right…”, Bella laughed, the top of her head just up to Evie’s chin. Professor Summers would always be first and foremost her mentor, and next on a lesser scale, an almost father figure for Bella. In the same respect, she was also a hundred percent sure that he wouldn’t know what hit him when she and Evie had their minds set on something.

Bella had spent countless days in his detention, which was usually in the garage, usually right with some of the other students, occasionally with Evie—On the rare occasion she got caught. The songstress had learned many a valuable thing… For starters, that there are ghosts in the garage.

Not to mention she was pretty sure she could disassemble and reassemble a car engine blind folded.

**

Back at the Academy, Bella was all smiles. Prom! Prom meant flowers and dresses… A party! She lugged her duffel back to her dorm cheerily. Teenage awkwardness aside, that was something Bella had never seemed to suffer… She was born to dance, and was darn good at it. The promise of loud music and spiked punch and cheesy decorations was enough for her. There wasn’t much that could ruin her day—She was just so happy to be home! There really was no place like it… She’d spent so much time here, learning and making friends—Finding another family… It was home. Not quite perfect, but what home was?

Once unpacked, Bella just flopped down in the cushioned window seat, closing her eyes. She was a little jet lagged… But the excitement in the air tried to keep her awake. Not to mention that the more she sat by herself, the more her thoughts moved and shifted. Changing topics… The incident from a few days before..

She raised her hand to the quiet music her ipod stand had been exuding, and it got a little louder as she curled up in the sun like a happy satisfied cat, the bright light glistening off her hair, showing tints of red there.

“Mmm there's no place like home…No place like home..
.”

If she had sparkly red heels... She would click them.

Those first few days at the Institute were really uneventful for Alek. He had somehow been assigned to a team that as absent at the moment, and walking into a school just before prom was rather interesting. He remembered his prom. He was rather pissed he was unable to bring his boyfriend along for it. But he supposed the rules were fair. His boyfriend was a little older than the limit that his highschool allowed. Of course had he known he was a mutant he could have gotten his way with it all.

He laid back on his bed and turned his head to the picture on the nightstand. It was an older man, early thirties. A doctor. His name was Daniel. He loved every bit of Alek and that just made things interesting with his family and friends back home. The summer before he went off to college he had spent with Daniel in his sea side mansion. Then he went to move into his college dorm... and then poor Tuna. Frozen solid. Not two days later did Daniel pay for a plan ticket to get Alek here.

It was exciting though. He had not really left his room to go and mingle among all the students and put names with faces that he had heard. New Mutants... he would have to find this... Scott and Evie. They seemed to be the ones he needed to look for, to introduce himself to. He had heard about a few students that seemed to peek his interests, just being the social whore he was.

Alek looked around his room. The bottles had finally thawed out. He was given a 24 pack of Poland Springs water to practice his powers with. It was a little frustrating. He was learning to chill the water and not freeze it solid. So far all he has been able to do was just that. Make a frozen bottle of water.

He grabbed the nearest bottle to him and held it in his hand. He concentrated on it... and the bottle began to sweat just before ice raced around the inside of the bottle starting as his hand. "Damn it." He said jokingly throwing it over his shoulder, not caring that it hit his nightstand knocking his alarm clock to the ground.

He scooped up his second bottle and tried again. With closed eyes and focused mind he felt the bottle start drop in temperature under his control. He felt the water on his hand. When he opened his eyes he had did just what he wanted. Finally. "Hot Damn! Well I think I f**kin got it! Its about damn time!" He looked towards his open door quickly. He was always getting scolded for his mouth. Told he swore more than a sailor.

Hellions: Back at the mansion, P-Prom!?

Leion had stayed out and chatted with Shandra for just a while longer, it had been getting late and he wasn't going to stay out when it was getting darker. He muttered a quick goodnight to her before hurrying back up to the complex, almost running into a girl in a large black cloak and going to bed.

The rest of the days on Muir flashed past like some cheesy training montage in a b-rate movie in theaters. He did manage to spend a whole day with the other Hellions to introduce himself and learn their names. Before he knew it he was carrying his luggage into the mansion for a second time. That was when he noticed IT.

Fliers were hanging practically everywhere for the event he had dreaded most in public school! PROM. Oh God, why did they have to have a prom? He'd known these people for less than a week and now he was expected to find one of them to take to prom!? Then again maybe he could get by with just going and standing around, then he wouldn't have to go on any unofficial dates and have anyone get unnecessarily attached to him.

What ever, he would have to figure out something later. At least he could finally get around to unpacking his things in the room he would be sharing with Carlos. Though really all he did was put his clothes away and then collapse on the bed asleep, darn jet lag was getting to him.

Adelle stepped off the flight back, honestly never so glad to see land in her entire life. What had started as a relaxing time had quickly turned into a nightmare, though for some reason she found that it was easier for her to get over than anything before. The remainder of the trip hadn't been too bad - a lot of relaxing on the beach as she started to think about finals. It was crazy to think that the semester was already finishing up and they would be having finals soon. However, there was one thing to take her mind off the stress.

As soon as she stepped into the school, suit case in tow, her blue orbs were drawn directly to the fliers plastered all over the foyer. Prom was coming to Academy X. If she hadn't been so jet-lagged she might have let out a squeal of excitement, though it was thankfully suppressed. Of course, like any teenage girl, she was excited about getting dressed up and walking into the gym on the arm of some studmuffin in a penguin suit. The grin on her lips as she made her way back to her room suggested she already knew who she wanted, and sort of expected, to ask her - duh. Breaking away from Thomas, whom she had been sitting with on the plane and walked in with, she just wanted a change of clothes and a nap before studying started.

Making it back to her room, she dumped her suit case at the foot of the bed, flopping down onto the covers with a heaved sigh. It was so good to be back, words couldn't really describe how content she was to be back in her own room. Rolling onto her side, she looked at the empty bed that belonged to her room mate, wandering when she was going to be coming in. Adie filled in all the blanks with what was going on with Chris, and she wanted to make sure that Isis was alright. She had a feeling a lot was going to ride on who he ended up taking to the dance, and that could work in his favor, or against him as far as she was concerned.

Forellen had been a psychological mess when she finally awoke from her drug induced slumber. It was fortunate that there wasn’t any permanent damage done to her while she had been held captive. For the first day back she remained holed up in her room not wanting to come out as she more or less went to pieces. By about two in the morning on the second day Forellen decided that she was done being a mess. The first thing she decided to do to help herself was shower. She felt filthy. She spent almost two hours taking a very hot shower. Once she was clean she pounded on Emma’s door until the woman finally answered and took about two hours to talk. Emma wasn’t thrilled about being rousted at three in the morning but made time for her. Forellen wouldn’t exactly say what was discussed but she came out feeling a little better then she had when she walked in.

Despite her decision that she was just fine Forellen adamantly refused to talk about what had happened in the labs to anyone. She talked a little about it with Emma and that was enough for now. She told anyone else that she just didn’t feel ready to deal with it at the current moment and wanted to get herself back on track before she dealt with that. She remember joining Siona during her drinking binge on the second day and got herself drunk for the first time in her life. An experience that she’ll never do again...ever.

Academy.

Forellen was more normal on the trip home but she was still a bit jumpy. “Prom?” She said breaking the silence that she had been in since leaving Muir Island. Forellen looked at the sheet in Siona’s hands with a frown. “I’m not sure I’m really up to that...” She peered closer to look at the date on it and shrugged. “I suppose I’ll need a date...” She hadn’t heard from Rajan in a while. He vanished on them with no note and no warning. He was going to get a piece of her mind when and if she saw him again. “And a dress.” She said frowning again as she set her bag down. She looked at Siona for a long moment. “Shopping?” She offered.

Hellions: From Muir to Academy - Back in time for Prom...oh joy...

Just like before, Shandra did not particularly enjoy the flight. And the promise of being back at the Academy didn't make her relish it anymore either. After all, she still had at least three weeks of cleaning duty to do for the damage she and the others had done to the school. Aside from that there was the little fact that no matter where they went, if they were a group of mutants and students, they kept getting attacked. That was not something she particularly enjoyed.

But when they landed some part of her was relieved. At least if they got attacked they were in familiar territory. While the island was nice and the people over there friendly, she knew that if she stayed much longer she might have actually picked up their accent too. As it was, she had a slight European-English vowel pronunciation already and that usually took forever to break. She blamed Nathan, wherever that boy was in the school it was his fault...

With her red braid sliding back over her shoulder as she walked through the large open double doors, she took in a small breath. Her feet carried her lightly to her dorm room, which she now shared with Ivy as she sat herself and her bag down on her bed.

Okay, so maybe there was something comforting about this place, but honestly there shouldn't have logically been anything. But logic was over rated sometimes, especially when it came to being a mutant.

After taking out a couple pawns, Krythin left Narcissa the few that were left. She looked like she needed something to take care of her frustration anyways. She hightailed it for the air craft, helping the weakened students on board. They managed to pack up rather quickly, and they were soon headed back to the island for recovery. On the flight over Krythin's skin calmed down to its normal pale peach from the charcoal gray it had been.

For the couple days they were on the island, Krythin was mostly by herself. She needed a little time to think and recover mentally. That group was one of the most sick she had encountered yet with their dog-eat-dog concept for humans and mutants. Krythin did manage to train, training being one of the few things that kept the recent ordeal off her mind. If only she could be better, maybe she could help even more. Ideally they would never have to worry about another student, but of course that would never happen. Even the X-Men had problems.

Fortunately, they arrived home once the sick students had recovered. Not all of them were in perfect condition yet, but they were not fighting for their lives any more. If only things could stay that way.

After tossing her vacation bag on her beg, Krythin walked down the hall. As she did so, she couldn't help but notice a flier; a flier for a prom. She looked at it with curiosity, but wasn't terribly interested. Truth be told, she had never actually been to a school dance. It could be fun, but Krythin really wasn't much of a dancer.

Ivy managed to walk along the chairs using them for her support, until she reached the end of the table. At the end she took the last chair and slid it across the floor, leaning the majority of her body weight onto it. Her progress was slow due to her increasingly blurry vision, but she managed to make it to the door. Once at the door she finally allowed someone to help her onto the air craft. Due to her high fever, Ivy's vision had shut down so it looked as if she were staring at the black fuzz of a broken television screen.

On the plane, Ivy felt as she was helped to an empty seat, where she actually lay across both and soon fell asleep, exhausted. She only hoped that she would wake up again, and that she would wake up alive.

The next thing she knew, Ivy had just woken up in the infirmary. There was an IV in her arm making sure she was getting nutrients while she was out. Well, at least I'm alive, she thought to herself. Ivy thought about sitting up, but past experience told her that she would be met with an unforgiving and nauseating head rush. Instead she decided to go back to sleep; what her body needed was rest.

Upon waking up again, Ivy was pleased to see that the IV had been taken from her arm. She also felt much more refreshed. However, there was a tinge of weakness too, what one usually feels once they begin to recover from being sick. Ivy also felt like she could eat a whole cow by herself; her stomach was practically caving in.

Later that day, they finally left the island to go back to the Academy. Ivy could only wonder what would be put on the report to the police back in Chicago in charge of her conduct. Truth be told, though, Ivy was glad to return. After that experience she just wanted to crash for a while.

Ivy entered the school again, taking a deep breath. It was good to be back. She walked upstairs and to her room, where she saw Shandra, the girl she would be sharing her room with, sitting on one of the beds. Ivy didn't know her too well, but she knew that she would at least need to make an effort to get along with her. The last thing they needed was a mutant cat fight.

Aerin tried to enjoy the rest of the time she had left on the island. After almost getting run over by Leion, she went to the shore and let the tide play around her ankles as she wriggled her toes in the sand. Heading back to the student housing, she avoided the drinking and poker parties. Especially the poker party. She could handle a few drunk people as long as they could handle their liquor, but people losing money and clothes was just too eerie. She knew she had to work on her social skills, but she wasn't ready to dive into something like that just yet.

Flying back to the institute, she slowly sighed as she was back to her familiar surroundings. But as soon as she saw what was posted on the walls, she quickly sucked her breath back in. Prom. Oh, the most dreaded thorn in her side! Aerin didn't like prom before she went to the academy, and she didn't like it now. The dressing up was fun, but the parts that got to her were the dates and dancing. Maybe if I dress up my undead like me, no one will know I didn't attend? she thought unrealistically as her skin prickled in fear. The awkwardness of people asking others out, hoping not to be rejected and the fear that people were watching your not-so-stellar dancing. Added on to this was Aerin's fear of being asked out. For one thing, she wouldn't know how to respond as she really didn't want a date. How do you decline a person nicely without feeling totally guilty afterwards? What if you accidentally say yes and can't stand the person? Aerin just wished to be a wallflower and prayed that the people at the academy would let her play her role.

Dragging her feet back to her dorm room, Aerin noticed that she had been assigned another room mate. Alicia Black, huh? I wonder what she's like...

Returning Home

For what seemed an eternity a rather large man stood just oustide the gates of the Academy's grounds, not moving, simply standing their staring at the building as if lost in though. Those who did not know him would be struck by his size, and his "distinguishing" features that seemd to give off the impression that he was not of a calm demeanor. However those that knew this figure knew otherwise, for it was Michael, or Titan as many liked to call him, and as usual he was lost in his own thoughts.

Atop Michael's head sat his favorite brim hat, and as he usualy did when travelling he had on his incredibly large trenchcoat that managed to hide all but a little of the spikes coming off of his elbows. It had been a lojng while since the first time he had made this very same walk to the academy in order to find freedom form the opression he ahd faced in the outside world, and yet that seemd like only yesterday, and yet here he stood again aftera journy away form the school. A smile slowly crept across Michael's hardened face for he knew that this is where he belonged and that he had finally made it back home. With that thought firmly in mind Michael would start to move foreward once more, goign straight for the front doors of the mansion, his ratehr large duffle bag slung over his shoulder.

As he enared the doors Michaels thoughts strayed to those he ahd left behind when he went travelling, Bella, Siona, Evie, and those he had fought alongside of on the paragons, and wondered how they would react to his return after these months of absence. He laughed at himself as he usually did, for he kenw they would accept him back, he simply tended to worry to much, probably caused by the thoughts that he let run wild withing his head. Slowly though his hand would grip the handle of the front doors, opening and thrusting hismelf once more into a place that was, like himself, anything but normal.

Jacen slept for most of the flight. Being off solid ground made him squemish, he didn’t care for the idea that he could plummet to earth in a firey ball at the slightest malfunction.

And now he was faced with another problem. When he first saw the flyers, he wasn’t that fazed. What was the big deal? It was just a dance, and if it was anything like the dances on Toatani, it would be fun. Apparently, the other students didn’t feel the same way about it. As per custom, Jacen turned to his best source of information on mainland customs: wikipedia.

’I’m supposed to get a date?’ that could pose a problem. Jacen had only just met these people, and only a few of them at that. He sighed as he stood up from the computer desk in his new dorm. He hoped his new roommate wouldn’t mind Jacen sleeping conditions, He didn’t want to alienate someone who would be in the same room as him. Jacen yawned, stretching his arms out before heading out of the room. He wanted to explore the mansion, the grounds had looked gigantic when he had first got here.

NuMu - Dorm Room - taking care of the little things

After much worry and becoming three kinds of tired, Thomas wasn't too thrilled to be on a plain much, the only saving grace of which was being with Adelle the entire duration. Even then he managed to nap a third of the trip, something he hoped she didn't take the wrong way. When they landed, he sluggishly made it to his room and quickly unpacked. He then sat on his bed and rubbed his forehead before looking at his arm. He looked around then let the room fill with the interactive holo displays he would be using to manage his ventures. He didn't feel like dealing with everything directly. He sent memos emails to his assistants and retainers detailing what needed to be done.

The incident left at Muir island left him many concerns about his older brother Zander who was in the same club out of Europe. He composed carefully a long letter and sent it to Zander's private mail. hoping to hear back soon. Things were so hectic he wrote other letters choosing his words carefully and trying not to scare his other family members. When he was done he he let the displays fade away as his arm closed up and resumed it's personal display of false flesh. Comparatively the false image was lighter, being on the island he tanned abit. He'd correct it later when he was up to it, right now he laid on his bed and looked up at the ceiling what would happen now.
