Welcome! *passes out sparkling grape juice and champagne.*
As anyone who has survived past their twentieth birthday knows, life frequently sucks. You are rarely appreciated, work is a daily slog, education is difficult, and the money is never enough.
But sometimes, for a brief, shining moment, someone recognizes your worth, your talent, and your ability. You are the star of the day. These moments are extremely rare and, as a result, extremely brag-worthy.
This is the place to brag about them, and to congratulate our fellows on the recognition of an outstanding achievement.

And yes, the creation of this thread is inspired by a personal achievement. In this case, academic.
This was my last year of university, and at the liberal arts institute I attended this means that a large project is required. Basically, it was a thesis for a bachelor's degree. I and a class of six other people worked on research papers on topics of our own interests all year. This included research projects, discussing methodologies, research proposals, literature reviews, and defending our papers in a presentation and question period. All in all, a lot of work.
At the beginning of the project, we were told that there was a possibility of a prize for the best paper. A book prize. This prize was not awarded every year, and was only awarded if the paper was considered outstanding.
I'm sure you all can see where this is going, but here is the announcement:
I won the book prize!

Excellent RD- it is wonderful to hear your work was recognized with an award-- -dances-
Fox- Congrats on the promotion -dances some more-
On a less than monumental note I did secure employment, I'm doing inventory-- this is an as needed job so the hours really fluctuate, technically part time.

Another academic achievement for me: I graduated from my 4-year degree with distinction. My major GPA is 3.9, and my overall GPA is 3.5. All that hard work paid off!
