The greatest enemy is Time--
Why must the sun still rise?
We wish for one last page
One last hit
One last kiss
But it has other plans.
It speeds, it flies, as I drag along
Like a much-abused shoe
Clattering behind the wedding car
Dizzy, confused, the landscape all a blur.
And then it jerks, it lulls, it stops,
Leaving me screaming in the silence
Wondering why no one can hear me.
And all this time,
My mouth was torn, stained red
I could not speak, I could not breathe
I was silenced
And choked on blood when I tried to cry out.
Is that why
You aren’t here
To kiss me?
