Alright, so I want to know why this thread doesn't already exist. Seriously, One Piece is awesome! In my opinion, it's better than Naruto and Bleach combined, although I'm a fan for both of the others.

For those of you who don't know (although I don't know why you wouldn't), One Piece is a Shonen manga/anime about a pirate, named Monkey D. Luffy, and his ever-growing crew, who wants to reach One Piece (the treasure at the end of the Grand Line). Luffy ate the Gomu Gomu no Mi (Rubber Rubber Fruit) and is made of rubber. He's the kinda guy who's naive, gullible, and just silly, but can turn serious in a flash when the situation calls for it. The manga has been going on since 1997 (I think), and is still ongoing. In other words, it's been going on for about 11 years (was released in December of '97 I think), and is long. (I know no one really cares, but I actually managed to write all this with only a little help from Wikipedia, and that was regarding the release date. ;D)

But it's definitely worth your time reading/watching all of it! It's unpredictable for the most part (no one ever dies, so that's predictable), and is bound to keep you on your toes. My One Piece-maniac friend got me into it last summer, and I've been a fan ever since!

I started with the anime. Yes, the anime. Now, I know there will be people screaming things like, "The anime is terrible, how could you watch such a thing?!" So to clarify, I watched the Japanese version of the anime, with English subtitles, of course, since I can't speak Japanese. sad

(For those of you curious, 4Kids butchered the anime in the beginning. It was later saved by Funimation, thank goodness. If you're really curious, you could probably Google it or look up videos on Youtube.)

So after I caught up with the anime, I talked to my friend a bit, and she helped me find what chapter I was on in the manga. I instantly started reading and caught up to the latest chapter, awaiting the next one (they come out every Friday).
