Welcome to the Gryffindor girls dormitory. This is where the girls of Gryffindor bunk, and it is magically enchanted to keep boys out so don't even try it. If you do somehow get around that little set back and boys are caught up here there will be some hefty consequences. Just so we understand each other. Good luck Gryffindors.

Lenore trudged up to the dorm and collapsed onto her bed fully clothed. Only once she had hunkered down in such a way did she look for Erika. She couldn't quite remember how the sleeping arrangements had gone in the past, and groaned quietly as she rotated her aching limbs.

Erika, also fully clothed, was lying on her bed, which was the one directly across from Lenore's, and staring passively up at the ceiling, trying to distract herself to sleep by seeing how high she could count. It was working remarkably well, and she guessed that the events of the day hadn't quite made their full impact on her yet, and it would all probably hit her in her dreams tonight. It was this thought alone, really, and nothing more which kept her awake, which she took as an improvement over her usually skittish nature.

She glanced up as Lenore entered, and gave her a small, fake-ish half-smile. Lenore didn't look as though she was doing so great - dead tired and sore from the day's trials. "All right?" she asked quietly.

Scarlett Eaves

Scarlett had managed to doze off in front of the fireplace, but woke up when Lenore and Ricky had begun arguing. She got up and went up to the dormitory, exhausted and lonely once more. She found Sakura, her cat, waiting for her on her bed, sitting with her front paws folded under her upper body. She mewled softly as Scarlett approached. Scarlett gave the cat a small smile and scratched her behind her ears, enjoying the purring of contentedness she started up at Scarlett's gesture. Scarlett collapsed onto her bed, fully clothed, and stared unthinkingly up at the canopy of her four-poster bed. She remained this way for about a minute before changing into her pajamas and sliding into bed, Sakura sprawling herself across Scarlett's legs. Scarlett heard Lenore and Erika conversing quietly, the wear of the day's events heavy on their subdued voices. As Scarlett noticed the comfortable way they spoke to each other (despite their faked calmness), she remembered her earlier thoughts, and as she pulled her covers over her head, she began to cry the most she had cried in 7 years. She cried for her departed brother, for her lack of family, for the ones who were killed in battle that day, for those who got injured, for those who would never be the same because of the traumatic events, and for herself, though she knew those were wasted tears because there was nothing she could do to cure her loneliness. Nonetheless, she cried long and hard about many things and eventually lapsed into a fitful, miserable sleep, peppered with nightmares.

Lenore rolled over onto her back with another small groan and looked across the gap at Erika. "Feeling better?" she asked, doggedly avoiding the other girl's question. She wasn't in much of a mood for another emotional overload today.

Erika shrugged. "For the moment," she replied. She glanced over at Scarlett's bed, thinking she could hear sniffling or something from where the girl was hidden under her covers. She turned away again. "Maybe if we just go to sleep we'll all feel better in the morning..." she suggested halfheartedly, knowing it would probably work the other way around. But she was tired - not at all up for conversation.

Scarlett Eaves

Scarlett sat on the windowsill, staring out of the bedroom window, stroking a snoozing Sakura that was comfortably in her lap. The snow drifted past the tower windows, blanketing the grounds with white flurries. She seemed to be the only Gryffindor female that had remained at Hogwarts for the holidays. She sighed as she looked around the empty dorm room, wishing that she had some sort of human company. She would've gone back to her hometown, but she did not want to ruin her break by running the risk of bumping into her father during her stay. There was always a close enough call during her summer break when there was no other option but to go home, and she hated living with that paranoia, so she avoided going home as much as possible. That did not mean she didn't wish that she actually had a home to go back to, though. She wished she had family and a home, but all she had was her cat and her trunkful of things. She sighed again and closed her eyes, willing herself to be sleepy to give her something to do.

Scarlett fell back into her bed, completely stuffed after the Christmas feast in the Great Hall. It had been a really lonely feast; only about twenty people had remained in the castle, and Scarlett knew none of them. She stared up at the ceiling, remembering some of her fellow students exchanging gifts or showing off what their families had gotten them. She felt a pang of jealousy and a surge of sadness as she thought about how she had not received a Christmas gift in eight years. She knew she shouldn't be so focused on material things, but it was times like these that made her think about all she lacked that the rest of her peers had. A tear slid down her face as the window burst open and a brown tawny owl flew into the room, sending Sakura hissing out of the dormitory. Scarlett shooed it out and shut the window tightly, shivering at the cold the owl had let in and shaking snow off of her head and clothes. She turned and saw a brown package lying on her bed. She stepped towards it cautiously, expecting it to explode or do something violent. She picked it up gently and was surprised that it was heavy. She tore open the brown paper and found a black, leather Bible in its wrappings. Tears sprung to her eyes, for she could never mistake that Bible to belong to someone else. It was Matt's Bible, the one that he had carried around everywhere and thus had accidentally made a long scratch on the front cover. Scarlett flipped through it and then hugged it tightly, lying back on her bed and crying her heart out for the third time that year.
