What is religion to you?
Do you follow something?
If so, what?
Do you think EVERYONE is 'sinful'?
Do you think homo/bisexuality is a sin? If so, why isn't heterosexuality a sin too?
Why do people care so much about what happens when they die?
Are you in the past (past lives, regretting something), present (enjoying your short time on Earth), or future (what will happen when I die? will I go to a good/bad place?)?
Why does religion have to be so restricting?

And why does religion have to mess EVERYTHING up for relationships? v_v

To me, religion is just a facade to let people be more comfortable with themselves and to theorize what will happen to them when they die.

I follow nothing.. No religion I know of has my exact beliefs. So I'll just be stupid and say I follow Kiwi-ism. XD

To me, there isn't such thing as sin. Just right or wrong. To me, there are wrong things, such as hurting someone or yourself in any way shape or form, and good things, such as making yourself happy and making people around you happy too, or at least not hurting them in the process of making yourself happy.

If someone tells me homo/bisexuality is sinful, evil, or wrong in any way whatsoever, I think I hate them. People with that mindset... I don't understand. Whether you like girls, guys, or both, if you are happy or making other people happy, what the HELL is wrong with it AT ALL?? If a girl and her girlfriend or a boy and his boyfriend hug, kiss, anything, I think it's just beautiful. Love, no matter what gender, is still love! Damn everyone who thinks that lesbians or gays or bisexuals are sinful just because they're in LOVE!!!
Damnit, if homo/bisexality is wrong, then SO IS HETEROSEXUALITY! Love is the same damn thing for everyone, why criticize one and cherish another? If two people are in love with eachother, I say leave them the hell alone and let them be happy.

I don't see why people are obsessed with finding out what happens to them when they die... It's the present we live in, you know? I don't live in the past or future, I don't worry about things that are past/ahead of me. I live in the present. My rule is to have as much fun as I can in this short lifetime here on Earth, and die happy. I'll worry about if I'll go to heaven, hell, or be reincarnated, when I do die.

I don't see why there are so many rules in religion. Religion, or at least christianity, as I've seen, has wayyy too many rules. Extreme followers... they just follow each and every word. Religion makes them choose their friends, restricts what they do, and worst of all, restricts them from pleasurable things. If you are stuck in worry about death and not paying attention that you are NOT having fun with your LIFE, I don't understand you at all. confused

My experiences with strict followers of religion have been bad.. all the relationships have ended up with each of us despising eachother. -sigh-
I wish there was no such thing as religion, so we could all be in peace, and all be happy. We (most of us) live in a religious freedom country, people have fought WARS over that right... I don't see with even all that that people try to "save" other people, try to convert them over to their beliefs, and break the "freedom" rule that people have DIED over! Damn... Everyone has their own beliefs. No one is right, no one is wrong. No one knows. Religion is all theory, no? No one knows for SURE that god exists, that gods exist, heaven or hell exists, reincarnation exists, or anything else..
All I want is for people to stop fighting one another because of religon, to me, it's rediculous!

(Edit, sorry about all this, if any of it offends you, or goes against your own beliefs. I'm a bit shaken after a few days of arguing with a religious friend, who is now an enemy. v_v)

What is religion to you? It's a pillow for people to fall on when they've nothing else. But it's also a cage. For obvious reasons.
Do you follow something? No, not at present. I thought I was Wiccan, but that doesn't really fit me. -shrug- I'll probably develop my own beliefs.
Do you think EVERYONE is 'sinful'? Not in the sense you're thinking, no. No one that doesn't believe in hell - or heaven, for that matter - is going there. Yes, we're all 'sinful' - we've all done something wrong. But the consequences are completely subjective to your beliefs.
Do you think homo/bisexuality is a sin? No. It's a preference.
Why do people care so much about what happens when they die? Because we're insecure. We want to know that there won't be just nothing.
Are you in the past (past lives, regretting something), present (enjoying your short time on Earth), or future (what will happen when I die? will I go to a good/bad place?)? I think I'm in the present and future. I'm terrified that there will be nothing when I do die. It's impossible to fathom, nothingness. Truly impossible.
Why does religion have to be so restricting? Because without its restrictions, it wouldn't be a religion. It'd be some sort of odd, unofficial belief system.
And why does religion have to mess EVERYTHING up for relationships? Because too many people believe in too many different things. V-v

What is religion to you? Religion is what I fall back on when everything else is awful.
Do you follow something? I go to a Methodist church, probably the most liberal one in the state. I'm the one and only Methodist witch.
Do you think EVERYONE is 'sinful'? Hurting other people is a sin. Those who rape, murder, and steal are sinful.
Do you think homo/bisexuality is a sin? If so, why isn't heterosexuality a sin too? Sex of any kind isn't a sin. All that matters is if you love the person.
Why do people care so much about what happens when they die? Because we're uncertain. We don't know what the future holds, except that we'll eventually die. We want to know what happens after that.
Are you in the past (past lives, regretting something), present (enjoying your short time on Earth), or future (what will happen when I die? will I go to a good/bad place?)? Though I know I've been around before, I try not to worry too much about either the past or the future. The present is all that matters.
Why does religion have to be so restricting? Not all of them are. If it is treated as restricting, it's because whoever is following it wants a strict set of rules to live by.

And why does religion have to mess EVERYTHING up for relationships? It doesn't. Relationships mess themselves up just fine without it. Intolerance for religion might mess things up, though.

Religon doesn't mess anything up, and homosexuals/ bisexuals/ and lezbiens are big sinners and will rot in hell. Religon is the only thing keeping the world in order without it women every where would be victims of lust, gay thoughts will go to our childrens minds, and people will kill when ever they want.

What is religion to you? Religion is...I dunno actually. The first thing that popped into my head was "A waste of time", but that's not fair. I guess it's just what you believe.
Do you follow something? yes
If so, what? I'm Unitarian Universalist
Do you think EVERYONE is 'sinful'? not sinful per se, but no one's perfect
Do you think homo/bisexuality is a sin? If so, why isn't heterosexuality a sin too? Homosexuality is NOT a sin!
Why do people care so much about what happens when they die? They're afriad.
Are you in the past (past lives, regretting something), present (enjoying your short time on Earth), or future (what will happen when I die? will I go to a good/bad place?)? More in the past than I'd like to be
Why does religion have to be so restricting? becasue people try to make it restricting. It's not if you don't let it.
And why does religion have to mess EVERYTHING up for relationships? v_v becasue humans are incapable on agreeing with anything.

-_- Sorry, but this is what pisses me off. I know I know, it's what you believe, and you are entitled to your own opinion. But still...
You didn't answer all the questions anyway. As I had said... If you believe that bi/homosexuality is a sin, then why isn't heterosexuality?
And wtf, even with religion, there is MUCH lust and gay thoughts. -__-
You know, religion isn't the thing that keeps murder in tact... You hear on the news every single day that there are murders, y'know? GOVERNMENT is the thing that keeps everyone from murdering eachother.
How do you know exactly what would happen without religion anyway? Hmm? Hmm? Do you have pregoc or something? Or are those just more than likely, statements that prove your overly homophobic and religousness?

And one more thing, oh how I do love when people say I will rot in hell. smile It's such a friendly, warm, feeling.

Edit: LESBIANS aren't a category all to themselves. Just pointing that and the fact that you spelled it wrong out.
PostPosted: Thu Nov 10, 2005 9:33 pm

-shakes- ><;;;;;;;;;;;

ARGH.

Care to explain why bis/gays/lesbians are going to "rot in hell"? I've heard all over that "Jesus SAYS!" What does he ******** say? He says that "Oneth shall not embraceth one of youreth owneth sexeth!!!11!!!one1!!"

Okaaaaay, so basically, this dude who was apparently LEET IN THE AWESOMEST WAY said something, and we all follow the s**t he says like obedient slaves?

Not me, bitches. You're not getting me.

More and more and more lately, christianity appears to be zombi-ism... All the extreme christians I know follow the bible word for word, convince themselves they ARE going to heaven, and that everyone else that isn't christian or doesn't follow god/jesus in their every word and step isn't going to heaven. -.- I mean.. man. If you believe it, fine. If you don't, fine. But if you put someone else down for something that isn't even hurting anyone in any way whatsoever... People actually threatened me today just because I was a lesbian. (I bet they're god's good little lambs..) Now, see if you can't tell me that is seriously ******** up.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 11, 2005 9:33 pm

Jeez, really? Man, that really sucks, I'm sorry. I honestly don't believe that people would care enough to threaten you based on sexual preference. I mean, God. It's not like you're doing anything to them. ><;

Dammit, now I'm mad.

Although you're kinda my hero for being open about your preference for the finer sex. I don't think I could ever tell anyone in real life other than, like, my best friend about my bisexuality. I would get so beaten down on. As if I don't get it enough. And as I read your journal, I admire you even more.

-bows-

Okay that's out. sweatdrop I kinda needed to tell you that.

Hi everyone! This is my first post here! Anyway, now for my opinions!
What is religion to you? Religion, to me, is what keeps me going sometimes. When I get depressed, I'll read something in my Bible, and cheer up.
Do you follow something? Yes, I do.
If so, what? I'm proud to say that I'm a Christian.
Do you think EVERYONE is 'sinful'? Ever since Eden, humans have sinned. It's our nature, you know?
Do you think homo/bisexuality is a sin? If so, why isn't heterosexuality a sin too? Yes, the Bible does say that it is wrong. I'm not sure why heterosexuality isn't. It's human nature too? Anyway, (I'm not trying to preach to everyone) Jesus Christ died on the cross for me. He did this so that with one simple prayer, I had salvation. No, you can't loose your salvation. Once it's there, it's there. Yes, I'm a lesbian. Is God going to kick me out for that? No, He won't.
Why do people care so much about what happens when they die? So they know they'll be going to Heaven?
Are you in the past (past lives, regretting something), present (enjoying your short time on Earth), or future (what will happen when I die? will I go to a good/bad place?)? I live mostly in the present. Sometimes, I worry about the future, but not often. Btw, Kiwi, cool motto! 3nodding
Why does religion have to be so restricting? Because people are taught they'll go to Hell if they don't follow every tradition to the t.
And why does religion have to mess EVERYTHING up for relationships? v_v Sorry about your friend, Kiwi. Probably because people have had debates like this since the dawn of time.

Sorry if I've offended anyone. sweatdrop Those are my views. If you think I've offended you, I'm so sorry. I hate preaching at everyone! This will probably be the last time that I say a lot about religion simply because I like to keep my friends. biggrin

Although some of your beliefs disagree with mine, I just love how you expressed them Ceri. ^^ If only we could all think what we think and just get along!

@Rufu: Yeah.. o.O I think they're scared I will do something to them, which I would only do anything to the person I love, and I certainly don't love them...
XD Someone thinks I'm a hero... I think my life's complete. I dunno why, but reading that makes me so happy that someone actually looks up instead of down at me.

I don't mean to make this a super long post, but I couldn't say this without quoting you here. You know Kiwi, you have some super good points. Maybe I should convert to Kiwi-ism XD. Heh heh, by the way, are you involved in debate? Because you definitely seem good at it! Although religeon is an offensive topic to debate about.

XD Thanks, and no, maybe I'll join the debate club next year.
But yeah, I'm not necessarily a fan of "arguing" about religion, which is usually what ends up happening. I do like to have intelligent debate, on the other hand.. which is apparently hard to come by, for me at least.
