The sun held high in the eternal blue sky of Olympus. The young patrons, each one of their own unique glow of beauty were all gathered around the feasting table, engorging themselves with the feasting pleasures of the momentous food around them. A feast it was, of all the gourmet the seas had to offer, with delicious and rare drinks as the eternal-giving luscious pomegranates and red wine from the very wine god himself, Dionysus. Music played out in the corners by the fauns, with so much emotion and ambition even the hardiest of dryads were compelled to dance. This was a time of celebration, for a new child had been born. She lay cradled in the goddess Alasia's arms, who sat next to the great one Athena. Her very skin shined unusually, yet beautifully like the soft foam of the sea, her hair vibrant like the glimmering blossoms of a young cherry tree. The child had no mother, a beautiful life created from the cherry blossom tree and soft sea themselves. The gods and goddesses rejoiced at the happiness of the child.
From the distance watched a young boy. The son of the great forest god, Eiizekhal, Fate. His purple eyes stared intently at the baby cradled in Alasia's arms. He wanted to join the other gods and goddess but instead, he decided to make a present for the baby. Thought he was two years old, he was very progressive. He walked back into the woods, away from the incredible feast that was going on between the gods and goddesses over the new baby. The grass was lightly wet, dew attached to Fate's legs as he walked across the forest in complete silence, the music from the party drowning with each step he took.

Fate continued to walk farther down the path, entering deeper into the depths of the forest. Soon, the beautifully orchestrated music of the forest was absorbed into the deep silence of the forest. Fate knew the forest as well as the back of his hand. With the exception of the normal forest sounds, such as that of the occasional flapping of the birds and the crawling of a mouse, the forest was enveloped in a peaceful silence. He gathered broken branches off the the grassy forest floor, continuing to walk closer to the center of the forest. The sound of a small spring sound from the distance, it's sprinkling waters getting louder as he got closer. Soon, he reached an opening, a small clearing where some of the animals gathered to drink the majestic, eternal water in the spring that lay close by. No mere mortal could find this place. Here Fate sat down, on a rock that lay close to the spring and began to work on his present to the young infant girl. As he began working, the Valsia, the young squirrel-fox spirits that lived in the hollow bases of the trees, watched him, their amber eyes eying him curiously. They bounded out playfully toward Fate, encircling him with the intention of play.
"Stop," Fate laughed, as he saw them pawing at the twig nestled object in his hand. "Let me finish this first, then I'll play with you." The Valsias, looking at him with an eye of understanding looked at him, then sat in front of him. They eyed his work with patience and curiosity.

"There, I'm finished," Fate said, holding it up so the Valsia could see it. The three Valsia stood up, then jumped and pawed at it playfully as Fate held it up for them to see. In his hands was cradled a little bird that would have looked like a real bird if it wasn't made out of twigs. It had small tiny leaves for feathers that rustled in the small breeze that blew. "Haha! No it's not a new toy for you guys!" Then, Fate saw their puzzled expressions on their faces. He sighed contently, leaning back on the rock, looking at his work. Then, he smiled to himself. "This is for someone very special." He saw the look of disappointment on the Valsia, then laughed aloud. "Don't worry, you guys. Your special to me, too. I'll make you something, don't worry." They bounded excitedly around him, then stopped and looked past him. They sniffed to smell the air, then headed towards the figure that had stepped into the clearing. The figure was bound completely in grass, with the hind quarters of an animal, yet stood on it's legs like a man. He had massive wings like a giant bird,a mossy green and brown and speckled with white. His face was hidden with a mask with the face of an owl, white and adorned with jewels. The smell of moss and trees of the forest clung on to him. He stood there majestically, the Valsia playing around on his shoulders. "Exactly, who is this special someone, Fate?"

Fate looked up to his father adoringly, smiling to him. He ran to him, wrapping his arms around him. "Father, there's a new goddess born in Olympia. She has blue skin like to rivers in the brook and pretty yellow eyes like the sparkling cluster of stars that twinkle in the night!" One of the things he like most about his father was he was always keen to learn the things that Fate had to say about. His father soothed his hair with his wings, giving Fate every ounce of his attention. Then, Fate showed him the little twig bird he made. "I made this for her, father. Do you think she'll like it?" He held it up for his father to see. He tried to see if he could guess what his father was thinking, yet the mask always seemed to obscure his emotions from showing through. He had never seen his father without his mask and his imagination always led him to believe his father's face to be an assortment of different faces. His father held it up on his wings, analyzing it from every angle. "It is done with extraordinary workmanship, Fate." He cooed, his voice echoing majestically. Then, he lifted his mask slightly and let out a breath of air on the bird. It swirled around the bird. Fate stared in awe at the little bird in his hands. It's moves were jerky at first, then it raised it head and began to move it's head. It chirped, the sound of the hitting of wood. Then, it began to fly around energetically around Fate's head. Fate smiled in wonder at it then held out his hands. The small bird settled down in his hands, then shuffled comfortingly. "Thank you, father!" He said. "I'm gonna go send it to her!"He hugged his father lovingly, then ran off to the entrance of the forest excitedly. The Valsia jumped off of Eiizekhal and they all bounded after him excitedly. His father waved him goodbye, watching his son warmly as he ran off.

Fate ran through the forest he called 'home.' His bird fluttering by his side. Fate couldn't wait for the baby to see the bird. The emerald canopy of green forest covered some of the sun, but not enough to darken the forest. Fate's feet pounded against the Earth, rushing towards his goal: the baby.
The gods and goddess were still feasting, Alasia still holding the child in her arms, though without a blanket. The warm breeze felt good upon the skin of the gods and goddesses. Alasia laid the baby on a blanket. The tiny infant rubbed her face into the blanket, cooing at it's softness. All the gods and goddesses smiled at the baby and began commenting on her cuteness.
Fate carefully stepped through the forest, looking at all the gods and goddess. Alasia gave him a warm smile.
"Fate, would you like to join us?"
Fate smiled warmly at the kind dark-skinned goddess and walked over to her, his bird following.
Artemis, the goddess of the Hunt smiled warmly. "Is this bird yours," she asked, holding her hand out to him. The bird perched on her finger.
Fate replied,"Yes. My father and I brought him for the new baby."
Alasia picked the baby up and held her in her arms.
"Apathy, Fate brought you a present," she cooed.
The baby looked at Fate with big yellow eyes. Fate blushed lightly. She was so cute.
Artemis kneeled down and held the bird. "For you, Apathy."
Fate smiled. "Apathy..." he thought. "What a beautiful name."
Apathy reached out for the bird, as any child would. The bird flew off Artemis' finger and chirped at Apathy.
She giggled and smiled.
Fate could feel his tiny heart beating out of control.

Fate looked at the young child endearingly, smoothing her smooth blue skin against his finger. Alasia looked at him comfortingly as she watched Fate. "She's so cute," he said. He looked at Alasia and smiled. "Would you like to hold her?" Alasia asked th young boy. Fate flushed to a deep shade of pink, almost as pink as Apathy's soft blossom hair. "Would it be okay?" Fate asked, almost stammering it out, his heart pounding with excitement. Alasia nodded her head, then handed the baby over over to him. He held her, her small fragile head cradled in his arms. Her bright, starry eyes glittered on him. Fate felt as though she was looking at only him and only him alone. He felt his face turn a bright red as she smiled. "As long as I live," he said to Apathy warmly,"I promise to always be there by your side."

Alasia smiled warmly to Fate. "Is she really so special to you Fate that you after only just meeting her?" Fate couldn't help but nod and smile. "Yes. I want to protect her,"he said shyly. Apathy giggled in his arms and reached her hand out to him. He gently held her tiny hand. Her yellow eyes stared at him intensely, almost as if she was trying to remember his face. Even though she was very little, she was like Fate, very advanced for her age. Fate stared into her serene yellow eyes and held their gaze. It seemed as if the flow of time had stopped and it was just the two of them in the world. As if almost by magic, Fate felt a string attach to his pinky and Apathy's. His purple eyes widened.
"A string upon thy finger links thee together for eternity..." whispered the wind.

Soon, the great presence was gone. fate looked around to see a surprising glance from Alasia. The gods and goddesses looked startled, each and every one of them focusing intently on Fate. The fauns and satyrs who were playing the enchanted music silenced amongst themselves. Fate heard a murmur of conversation amongst them. They continued to stare at him, making Fate uneasy.

The Goddess Hestia, whom protected homes and children stood from the rest of the gods and goddess and walked over to Fate, smiling kindly. She was beautiful. A wonderful woman who was average height with green curls and soft brown eyes.
She kneeled down before Fate and said, "Do not worry. Rhea has bestowed upon you the wonder and joy of having your own soul mate. Apathy is a child, though it's inevitable for her to grow older, as you will. When that day comes, you two will be lovers."
And she whispered, "And you two will last unlike most of us..."
She patted his head and smiled. "Be strong, Fate."
Then Hestia proclaimed, "My dearest brothers, sisters, neices, nephews and extended family, the son of the great Forest God, Eiizekhal's son, Fate, has been chosen by our mother Rhea to be Apathy's soul mate."
Almost all the gods and goddess were surprised. Soul mates? The idea was a nice thought, but it proved often times to be impossible to happen.
Fate held Apathy closely, staring at her.
"I promise to protect you and stay with you, Apathy. Nothing can break the string tied to you and me,"he said confidently enough for Apathy to smile; and possibly enough for him to believe his own lie.

As the years passed, Apathy grew into a young girl. She disliked having long hair because it was heavy. She didn't like have long hair when running.
"It gets in my face and then I can't see," she explained to Hestia, who took her in while Alasia returned to work for Hera.
Hestia chuckled and sat Apathy down. "I don't see why you wish to cut it, it's so long and beautiful. Truly a unique set of colors," she said.
"I just want shorter hair so I can beat Fate in a race," she said, her cheeks flushing angrily.
Everyday she and Fate had races. And every single time, Fate won! She blamed her long hair.
Hestia grabbed the shears and carefully snipped off Apathy's long gray and pink hair. As the shears cut through the thin strands, her hair fell down to the floor. Hestia trimmed the tips and pulled Apathy's hair back. She smiled.
"How do you like it?"
Apathy's eyes widened. She hugged the goddess happily and thanked her, running off to grab her purple bunny, Rhea, and running off into the forest to show Fate.

Fate was waiting near the entrance of the forest. As he saw her approaching, her placed the thing he was working out of her sight. He smiled and waved to Apathy. "Hi, Apathy!' He whispered to the Valsia close by to take the object away. "Make sure she doesn't see it" he whispered to them. Excitedly, they took it, fighting over who it was who could hold it. He stood up and greeted her. Then, dull as he was, finally noticed something different about her. He couldn't put his finger on it. 'Hey, Apathy! let's have another race today!"

Apathy pouted.
Of course he didn't notice. Or maybe he did. She couldn't tell. Fate was strange.
She giggled and shook her head.
"Okay!" she smiled.
Fate smiled as well.
"New hair?"
She blushed. "Yeah.." So he did notice.
They took their marks at the forest and knew where to stop. The Oak of Time.
Apathy counted down.
"Ready?"
He nodded.
"GO!" she screamed excitedly, bursting off alongside Fate. The forest blurred behind them, everything rushing by. They pounded the ground like a drum as they ran through to get to their destination, The Oak of Time. It was a gaint tree with roots as old as time itself. It lay shrouded within vines and bushes, hidden deeply from the rest of the world, as if it was a secret the forest didn't want to share.
They were neck and neck when Apathy jumped and touched the tree.
"I WIN!" she panted.

Fate stood there panting heavily, smiling at Apathy. 'I guess it was your hair that was slowing you down," he joked. He whistled, calling the Valsia to his side. They bounded to him joyfully, carrying something in there mouths, but Apathy couldn't see. Fate was purposely making sure she didn't see what it was until he presented it to her. He took it in his hands, holding it behind him. 'I sure hope you remember what today is," he said. Seeing the puzzled look on her face, he laughed then gave her the gift. "We'll, I sure do!" Apathy let out a squeal of surprise. He held out a small gray bear, with little patches of blue on it. It was simple, yet adorable. She wrapped her arms around him, tackling him to the floor. "Thank you, Fate!"
