Okay. Here's the deal.
Michael and I are planning on getting married. He's asked me. But it's not "official". Because there is no ring. Yet. Everyone keeps telling me there is no commitment, if there is no ring. But... dude. Do you HAVE to have a ring? Is it really, no commitment if there's no ring?
Should I stop harassing Michael about a ring? xd He takes everything I do in stride. I think he brushes off half of what I say.
What do you guys think, though?
Because there is no ring, is there less commitment? Does that shiny rock on your finger really mean all that much?

You don't need a ring to be engaged. All "engaged" means is you plan to get married. The ring is only a symbol of that spoken contract.
I never asked for my engagement ring, but Mark wanted to buy me one, so we picked it out together. xd

I never got an engagement ring. I wear a plain wedding band, though I have been hinting that some day he should get me an anniversary band. If you really want to go with the feminist view, the ring is simply a guy staking his claim on you.

I don't think you need one. xD You can be engaged/married without a ring. I seen people like that. x3 The ring is just really a symbol and what not.

I don't think that you have to have a ring to be commited to someone. My hubby and I don't wear ours, though that's really just because my set went missing, and the solder-wire ring he made me doesn't fit heart (yeah, corny and cute, I know) but I know many couples that don't wear their rings, and many happily married women who never had an engagement ring!
