Well, truly, it's "mo-nga" because in Japanese there is no "a" sound. However, you can still say "may-nga" because it's the English equivalent. SO really, both are correct.
HOWEVER, anime is pronounced "an-ni-may" not "on-nee-may", because it comes from the English word "animation", therefore it uses English pronunciation.

A nice added bonus is that in Korea, manga is pronounced man-uwha. I sort of feel bad because I say manga in the American way. Once you get into the habit of calling something a certain name, you can't stop.

Once you get into the habit of calling something a certain name, you can't stop. I know the feeling! I've been learning Japanese and I'm shocked by how many words I used to mispronounce, but I still have to think about it to say them right, and even then I mess up sometimes!

AAh. You're taking Japanese? That means that you have to learn three different types of writing systems.

Phydeux77 II Sheeda II THANK you for clearing that up for me. It's been a confusing subject. It is for most people! And, btw, I actually say it BOTH ways! So do I, depending on who I'm talking to. Like some people that never read manga I just use the English version, while when talking to a friend who loves them I would use the Japanese version. Confusing sometimes... 0.o

Kogane Shirogane oh. Sorry. Though it's still nice to know a bit of words to pass by if you ever go to Japan. Like "Where's the bathroom?" That's a phrase that everyone should know in several languages.
