Now Japanese subculture:
Lolita - Japanese fashion based on Victorian clothing that uses gothic designs in production and rage from gothic, sweet, classic, punk, etc. Typically depicted as delicate and aristocratic.
Sukeban - Delinquent girls, typically portrayed in manga as stronger than the men for comic relief. Good references in 'Yankee-kun to Megane-chan."
Kogal - Typically related with rich Japanese girls and high incomes. Can be associated with rich "valley girl" and ganguro subculture.
Gonguro - Japanese fashion that goes opposite of traditional Japanese femininity. Instead of pale skin with dark hair, gonguros will bleach their hair and tan their skin as a polar opposite. There is often use of heavy make up and brightly colored clothes. Often rebellious and related to Kogal.
Bosozoku - Often related to motorcycle gangs, can be stereotyped in manga/anime much like bikers in the US's Midwest.
Cosplay - Finally, cosplay or "costume roleplay" where participants create elaborate costumes to be a specific character or idea.
