'Did you do your homework? She gives an awful lot, doesn't she? She can be nice and her lessons might be okay, but she's supposed to be really strict. Half an inch missing from your essay and she'll know with a moment's glance. Doesn't even have to measure it. It's just lucky that she doesn't give detentions just quite as often as the other teachers, right?'

You might hear these whispers and murmurs in the Great Hall, in the corridors, the flights of stairs as students come ever closer to Professor Freid's room. However, everyone has their own impressions about this class and even more about the Professor. So watch out, keep your wits about you and hope that you don't get in detention and/or a rare glare from the Professor, because, if provoked, she will give you one or the other...or both.

[I'd appreciate it if everyone colorcoded their rping to their houses, like what we do in the Great Hall, but if you don't wanna, then you don't have to.]

Henry stood in line impatiently for Professor Freid to come, chatting mildly with some friends (who I have yet to invent...) and wondering if her lesson would actually be fun. He cut across whatever his friend said and mused, "Maybe she's gone crazy from stress?"

((1st year G + S are coming, 5 year R + H that's it for 1 period))

Lily waited in line, tapping her foot impatiently. "Where is she?" She whined, leaning agaisnt the wall. No, patience was not one of Lily's stronger points.

"Lily, you should really be calmer. It's only been a few minutes." Annabeth reasoned quietly, glancing around for Proffessor Freid.

Professor Angela Freid arrived after the students did and quickly ushered them all inside. She spoke calmly to the first graders, deciding on welcoming them to Hogwarts first before anything else.

Lily smiled, choosing a seat aroud the middle of the classroom. "What do we learn in Defense Agaisnt the Dark Arts?" Lily shouted out, excited.

Annabeth shoved her friend in the ribs, trying to tell her to shut up.

Profesor Freid smirked, but she said rather sternly, "I'll answer that in a while, miss...," she checked a paper that appeared into her hands out of nowhere, and continued, "Lily, but I'm afraid that in my class, I must ask you to raise your hand. Anyway," she faced the rest of the class. "Defense against the Dark Arts is a very important subject that you must all know in order to become witches and wizards, and I believe that it will be a fun experience for all of us. As you all must know, the world isn't filled with only good things; there are horrible monsters in the world out there: grindylows, hinkypunks and red caps are a few of them that aren't quite as famous as vampires and werewolves, but all are real, I assure you. Unless you want to be eaten or killed by any, you must learn at least the basics by the end of the year in order to repel the lesser demons of the world."

Lily tried hard not to scowl. It wasn't that she was suprised, particularly, by the 'raising hand' thing.

Annabeth sighed quietly at her friend's eagerness, internally wondering what the heck what a 'hinkypunk' was. The word 'hinkypunk' sounded like something out of those old rhyme book she used to read. It was awfully easy to see who was the troublesome student in their friendship, and who would try her hardest to keep Lily out of detention.

"Also," Professor Freid continued, "You heard me tell you that I will give you detentions if there's any rule-breaking going on; however, I should also tell you that your Head of Houses can have you expelled if you go too far. Should you try, I will have to choose the inevitable, and it will be a sad sad day if you get kicked out of school in the first year."

Dangit, this teacher can get people expelled? I thought that was only the Headmaster! Lily thought, tapping her pencil agaisnt her desk quietly. Not to mention Annabeth would probably kill me if I was expelled.

Annabeth nodded. She worried for Lily, whom tended to act without thinking. Lily wasn't a very good student, as she forgot her homework often. Annabeth reminded her almost every day in human school.

Angela spotted the surprise and worried faces and flashed a smile at them. "Most students don't get expelled so easily; there aren't too many students who were expelled for misbehaving; even if you bloat someone else's head, you won't be expelled.

Lily sighed, doodling on her notebook for the time being. Now, since the worry for expulsion had vanished, she just wanted the lesson to start so she could get on with her day.

Annabeth listened quietly, kind of relieved that it wasn't easy to get expelled. Lily would've gotten expelled in the first month if it was too easy.

"However," Professor Angela continued sharply, wearing a rather expressionless smirk on her face, "It is quite easy to get a detention, and I'm sure that some of the more trouble-making division of this class will surely get at least one detention per week, so lets hope that we do well. You can get a detention if the you aggravate your professor, don't pay attention," her attention flitted over to Lily, "not do your homework or classwork and/or damage or behave with disgusting behaviors to other students. Now, let's get started with our class!" She turned over to the blackboard and waved her wand, where a paragraph about hinkypunks appeared.

Annabeth felt a little sorry for her friend, but decided to focus on her own life right now. She dutifully took notes. Well, at least she'll do her homework. She usually tries to copy mine anyway.

Lily scribbled a small drawing of what she guessed, by the description on the board, of what a hinkypunk looked like. She wrote a few details under it, then proceded to draw funky looking trees around the hinkypunk.

As Professor Angela Freid began to explain about hinkypunks, she proceeded to summon one in a cage with a lazy flick of her wand and a revolting one-legged thing appeared on her desk, clutching a lantern and leering at the first years.

(I think that was what it was...)

(Eh, I think so.)

Lily gasped in suprise, staring at the weird creature. She was about to shout out a question, but managed to raise her hand. On a last second thought, she smirked at Annabeth, clearly saying See? I can learn.

Annabeth tilted her head in confusion for a moment, staring at the horrible looking creature. It was interesting, to be sure, but the lantern kind of scared her. The lantern finished the scene right out of a horror movie.
