 Daniel Blackburn is a decently neat man and his office is always very tidy and in order. He spends a lot of his time here and his desk has a a picture of his family every Christmas since his wife and he got married.

~Daniel Blackburn~
Daniel sat at his desk looking through his lesson plans. He taught the 6th and 7th years next period and that was always interesting. He liked the older kids because they were more mature and they were more willing to learn because it was now a choice class. This was a class he was more strict with though because of the fact that it was all their choosing that they were in the class and he intended to make the period go by smoothly. He would start off the period with a book check, from there he would give an oral pop quiz to get everyone warmed up and then let the kids write a 2 paragraph summary on the first two chapters to be due the next day. He expected all of his students to have read the first two chapters already but he knew that there was probably someone that hadn't done that. He wouldn't let it go without saying something about stepping up to the plate and being prepared for such a rigorus course but today he wouldn't punish them. He would then tell the kids the spells they were to practice nonverbally and tell them their written essay for the week. There would be no magic today just discussion and the only day of book study the older kids were going to get unless they managed to piss him off. Next week would be chapter 3 and he would start punishing students for not being prepared if they hadn't read the chapter. Of course if they misbehaved then everything would change.

~Daniel Blackburn~
Daniel had made his way to his office right after 8th period with a tired sigh. It had been a relatively good day, just long. Then again the first day back always was. Daniel was sorting through the winter homework that had been turned in today, and had just gotten it sorted into 6 piles when he saw Ricky and Scarlett walk in. He stood and had been about to welcome them thinking they'd come for extra help. Well that Ricky had. He wasn't sure why Scarlett was coming since she was doing pretty good in his class. Then he saw that both were filthy, and immediately after this recollection he saw Annaliese walk in. Suddenly he knew the two were in trouble, and couldn't help but glare at them. He saw Ricky flinch somewhat. "What did you two do? The Headboy and 7th year Prefect being brought to my office by a brand new teacher. You haven't even given this woman a chance to think you deserve your positions." Daniel seriously wasn't wanting to hear what the woman was about to tell him. Since she hadn't brought Emily with her however he was starting to toy with the possibility that it wasn't too terrible. Seeing the red mark on Ricky's face however, he was seriously doubting that.

 Annaliese Zanbrecher Annaliese walked into Daniel's office after Ricky and Scarlett and smirked to herself when she saw that Daniel was already upset to have these two high-ranking seventh years appear in his office in apparent trouble on the first day of class. She said, "Hello, Daniel. Sorry for bothering you so soon; ve did not have a productive first class, and you are zeir Head of House, so you vill decide zeir fate after hearing vhat zey did in our first class." She paused before launching into the reason why they were in his office in deep trouble. She explained about the argument, the slap, the almost-punch, and the talking back Ricky had done to her. "I have varned Sanders and Eaves zat zare is a possibility of zem losing zeir badges over zese actions, but I vill leave zat decision up to you, Daniel. Zat is vhy zey are here, zough. I am not sure vhy zey decided to act up so much on ze first day back." Annaliese was truly baffled by that fact, but she was more wondering how Daniel was going to punish the Head Boy and seventh year Gryffindor Prefect.  Scarlett Eaves Scarlett shook as she stood in front of her Head of House, flinching as he scolded her and Ricky. She had never been in trouble before, but now that she was, she hated the feeling and hated fearing for her badge. She had missed out on being Head Girl, so Prefect was all she had to her. She really did not want to lose her badge, but she cared more about Ricky losing his. Speaking up once more, Scarlett said, "Forgive me for interrupting, professors, but Professor Blackburn, please don't take Ricky's badge; I'm the one that slapped him first, so if anyone should be punished terribly and have their badge taken, it should be me." Scarlett knew she'd get scolded for talking, but she had to have her voice heard before getting in trouble; it was made more worth it by the fact that she was sacrificing her position to save someone else's.

Ricky winced when Blackburn started scolding him and Scarlett. He was seriously regretting the entire 8th period, and wishing he could go back in time and undo it. He was realizing just how bad it sounded as Zanbrecher explained what all had happened. He winced when she explained that Ricky had almost punched Scarlett and saw the man stiffen. He was wondering if Yelsah would in fact be an easier person to deal with. When Scarlett started to plea for his badge however he looked over at her shocked and immediately shook his head. "Professors, please. I started it all by laughing at Scarlett. It was the second time in one day. She may have slapped me, but I was rude to her and deserved it. Besides that, I almost punched her, and if I had I wouldn't have just left her with a red mark. Please don't take her badge." Ricky couldn't help but trying to save Scarlett. She hadn't been in trouble her entire life, and now she was in more trouble than she could imagine her her wildest dreams. He had to at least try to get her through this disaster and punishment with her badge still in place.

Daniel listened to Annaliese, his temper rising with each sentence. He couldn't believe he'd put such idiots in high ranking positions. He hadn't had time to reply when Scarlett started in, and she was immediately followed by Ricky. "Eaves, Sanders, I don't know what makes you two even think you have the right to speak and ask for anything. You're both lucky I don't expel you for such horrid behavior. Especially as 7th years. Since you both want to give your own badge, I'll take both of them. You'll serve your two months with Professor Zanbrecher each evening, and report to me for lunch that entire two months. She can have you for Saturday's as well. Now both of you hand over your badges. It makes me sick to think we put you two in charge when you can't even get along with each other. Professor Wixom will be sickened by it as well when I tell her, and yes, I will tell her." Daniel waited to receive the badges before turning to Annaliese. "If I were you I'd remove both students from my class, but I'll leave that to you to decide. Feel free to keep Sanders' wand as long as you like. Maybe he'll learn when he realizes he can't use it when he needs it."

Scarlett Eaves Scarlett flinched as Professor Blackburn continued scolding them, feeling even worse about everything when he said that he felt sick at having put her and Ricky in charge. It was unfair for him to say that, but they had both behaved pretty terribly, so she couldn't blame him too much for that fact. When he asked both of them to hand over their badges, Scarlett obliged with a sigh, fighting back the tears that were threatening to spill over. She had cried enough in public today, and she didn't need nor want anyone thinking she was some weak crybaby. She watched Ricky hand over his badge with shaking hands, and at the sight, she couldn't help the tears that fell. This was all her fault. Yeah he had laughed at her, but she was the one who had gone off on him, making him not willing to help her, then proceeded to laugh at him and slap him. She did feel slightly scared of him because he had been so ready to punch her, but the fact that he was losing his beloved badge just made her feel deeply sad for him. It had been a terrible day, and it was only going to get worse over the next two months they had to serve with Professor Zanbrecher. Scarlett dreaded hearing from the Deputy Headmistress; she felt rotten enough as it was from Professor Blackburn's scolding. She could only imagine what sort of things Professor Wixom would tell them. Annaliese Zanbrecher Annaliese stood quietly as Daniel scolded Ricky and Scarlett, and watched as both students handed in their badges. She could tell that those positions meant a lot to each of them, but she did not feel any sort of sympathy for them because of their despicable behavior in her class, especially Ricky's. He had almost punched a girl and then he had the nerve to talk back to her. Annaliese would make sure he would pay a heavier price than Scarlett over the next two months. When Daniel told Annaliese that she could keep Ricky's wand, she replied, "I intended to do so, Daniel. I vill not return it to him until next veek, if he earns it. As for Emily, how about ve head to her office right now? This is information zat cannot vait to be relayed to her." At Daniel's nod, she motioned for Ricky and Scarlett to lead the way to Emily's office, then took up the rear along with Daniel. Annaliese knew Emily would not be happy about this situation, but she would be grateful that Daniel had done the right thing by taking their badges.
