Jamie was curled up underneath the small oak tree that he'd planted in the centre of his soon to be garden in the clearing he'd chosen some time ago. (Which was begin effected by his foul mood and had turned brown and looked like it was slowly wilting) Now he'd lost a good portion of his berries and seeds, a few had been planted, but there just sprouts here and there, not very noticeable amongst the rest of the forest.
"Stupid stupid humans...." He sobbed, they didn't understand, they'd never understand. And he made him feel worse he was still a little bit like one of them, he wasn't finished yet, it wasn't a Faun at all yet either.
A lot of the leafs around the clearing where darkening, this little corner of the forest was autumn and fast approaching winter.

Alex had heard word that Jamie had gotten back from one of the others, so it was his duty to go check up on him. He wasn't really sure why he felt a need to keep watch over stuff, or at least try and hold things as together as he could. Something inside his head just felt it's what he needed to do. It gave him something to do, to be useful. That wasn't a bad thing.
The half-gryphon stumbled a bit as he walked through the mess of limbs and bushes that was the forest. It was small comfort that at least he was more adept now at walking through the Ironwood Forest without getting a wayward limb smashed into his short beak.
After a few more turns, Alex used his clawed hand to hold back a branch, entering the clearing of what was Jamie's garden. He looked around at the trees and the plants, frowning as best he could with his beak.
Alex's ear tuffs twitched a bit as he heard something, slowly made his way over towards the sound of quiet sobbing. His head peaked around the tree Jamie was under and tilted his head.
"Jamie?", he said quietly, trying not startle the faun. Alex sometimes could be a bit too much like a feline with his walking at time, and the last thing he wanted was to make the sad faun feel even worst.

Jamie was sat curled up against the tree, his knees pressed up to his face. The tattered remains of the peasant trousers he used to wear still clung to his body, but only much to make a pair of shorts than just covered what they needed to. His hair was a curly matted mess, his ears noticeably drooping on either side.
He looked up at the sound of something along side the tree, maybe it was a fellow animal that could comfort him. Well, it was a fellow changed at the least, Alex registered as friendly, he wasn't human, just a little human like he was, he could trust him.
"Oh, h-hello...Alex" He tried to make a smiled on his face as he wiped his face clean of tears with his arm.

Alex's small beak twisted a bit as he looked at Jamie, as he sat under the tree, trying to wipe away the tears he'd be crying. The half-gryphon sighed softly and moved to sit down slowly beside Jamie and reached over to pat him gently on the head with his distorted hand.
"Hey", he said softly as he sat there, giving just a little bit of time for Jamie to wipe away his tears.
Alex's tail twitched a bit behind him. His own clothes were pretty much falling apart, but at least they did the job they needed to do. Below his knees, his pants were nothing but taters, although with his legs in their current state, it was at least comfortable.
"I heard you had some troubles", he said. His eyes looked down at Jamie as he tried to brush his fingers through the curly hair of the faun, to try and straighten it out from the mess it had become.
"Wanna to talk about it?", he inquired. If Jamie didn't, well, he'd understand.

He loosened up a little, mainly in the form of letting his arms let go of his legs from pressing into his chest.
"Hmph" That was one way of putting it. He let Alex fix up his hair, his hands felt out but he'd rather let him do it than Jimmy at the very least.
"I..." He cut off, he wasn't sure what to say, Alex probably would understand. "...people....people tied me up and they where going to sell me! Stupid humans..." He let emotions out, he needed to vent, there was a lot more anger than anything. "...I hate them"

Alex sighed to Jamie's upset confession of hatred. His taloned fingers worked through the mess of hair Jamie, before slowly reaching down to pat the kid's shoulder.
"Jamie..." He starts to say something, then closed his eyes as he tried to think what he should say. If anything, he could understand why Jamie was so upset. He'd probably be up in arms if the same had happened to him. But this wasn't about him, it was about Jamie.
He sighed a bit more. "Jamie. One of the things in life you'll find out is... well, people can be pretty mean at times." His hand patted the kid's shoulder as he sat there, turning his beak and eyes towards the sky above. "I used to run a business, once... And some people I met along the way, they were really nice. And then there were the others, the folks who would sell their mothers if it meant they'd be successful and rich."
Alex's next sigh was almost one of longing. He had tried to not to think about his home, his work, his plane, but at the moment, it was the only thing that he could talk about, relate to Jamie's situation.
His gaze turned to look back down at Jamie, deciding to let the small child vent a bit more. Ear tuffs twitched as he sat there, looking at Jamie, partly to hear Jamie better, partly just to make sure that nothing decided to scare the bejeezus out of Jamie.

"Yeah people are mean" He interjected into Alex attempt at comforting him whilst he was being patted down. (Maybe it was his goat half but he sort of liked being petted but his ignored it)
"But animals don't do things like that! They're nice, not like people, not like people at all. Hmph"
He shooed Alex's talon-hands away from his hair, he didn't need him combing him like that, his hair was the least of his worries right now. He pouted and crossed his arm over his bare chest, at least the wolf understood him.

Alex pulled his taloned hand back to himself since Jamie seemed to be in no mood to have him try to correct the mess that had become of his hair. "Yeah, they can be..." He wasn't going to argue about people being mean. He had known too many in his lifetime while running his business.
His head tilted to one side as he looked down at Jamie. "The animals really like you, don't they? Must be nice."
The ex-pilot sat there a bit and clicked the edges of his beak some. His eyes looked around the garden, or what was left of it, before looking down at Jamie. "So, are you mad at me too?", he inquired.

He just nodded, now running his hands along his ears, adjusting the fur that lined it's edges.
"They do...the wolf Jimmy had understands what I say, but he's gone of somewhere, guess he needs friends who are wolfs and no like me" He sighed, animals may have liked him but they weren't often fond enough of him to be a permanent companion. Most had their own species to attend to over him.
"...No" He responded after an awkward silence, not looking at Alex.

The pilot sat there a bit, letting the silence just sort of linger, before he decided to speak up. "Well, your wolf friend probably had a friends and family to go back to. Just like you did."
He sighed softly and reached over to grab ahold of his own tail, rubbing out some of the dirt that had gotten caught in the fuzzy end. His crude fingers rubbed at the fur a bit, but slowly the pilot turned his attention back to Jamie, as another thought crossed his mind.
"Who's Jimmy?", he inquired of the boy.
His fingers still rubbed at his tail, but he was curious who 'Jimmy' was, just so he might know who to be on the look out for, in case they ever came back into the forest. Of course, he wasn't going to mention that part to Jamie.

"Yea..." he responded slowly, he couldn't hold it against the wolf, he was a pack animal, it was only natural. Still, he couldn't help but feel a little betrayed after helping it escape, it was childish.
"The human who tried to sell me with his friends" He said the word "friends" rather in spite, whilst looking miserable again.

The pilot nodded a bit then reached over to hug Jamie, or at least tried. "It's okay, Jamie. You're safe now. I'm just curious who this Jamie guy is. And the last thing I'm going to do is let him or his friends get anywhere close to here. That's why I was wondering what this bad person was like."
It was good enough reasoning, he supposed, and he did want to help calm Jamie's fears that he might have about the people coming back.
"Now, why don't you tell me how I can recognize this bad man." He tried to smile some, twisting his beak till it almost looked right. "Plus, I'm sure you'll see your wolf friend sometime. It's a big forest, and I'm sure you'll see him at some point."

Jamie let Alex hug him, something about his soft mix of fur and feathers was so of nice. Not so much his talons.
"O-Okay" He sniffed, only to stop anything dribbling out of his runny nose. "You'll be a great forest guardian as a griffin, I'm sure..." he trailed off, obviously more perky about the idea than Alex.
"He sort of had long white hair, and this hat" He shrugged, clothing seemed sort of hard to describe at the moment.

Alex tilted his head as Jamie commented about him being a forest guardian. The pilot didn't see himself as a guardian. He was just some guy in the wrong place at the wrong time who ended up turning into a big monster somewhere far far from home. But he nodded a bit, and sighed. "Yeah... I bet you're right", he said, to try and make Jamie feel better.
At least Jamie hadn't pulled away from the hug. That was a plus. And he seemed he could at least talk about the man who'd caught the young half-faun. "Okay, so, a man with white hair and a funny hat?" Well, it was a start anyways.
He tried to smile a bit as he let Jamie rest agaisnt his feathered and furred form. "Don't worry about it if you can't remember much. I'm not planning on anyone getting close to this area if I can help it..." Alex didn't want Jamie to struggle too much with his memories, since that might just make him upset, and that was the last thing Alex wanted to do.
He relaxed a bit and tilted his head, looking down to Jamie. "Is there anything I can do for you, Jamie?", he asked.

"Yep" He nodded against Alex's chest. The mental image of Alex as a large stronger Griffin being his protector, and by extension of the forest, comforting him.
"Yeah, not nice at all" Trying to picture humans was hard, he was just sort of ugly.
"Well..." He didn't want to impose in anyway, but Alex did seem to want to genuinely want to help him. "I do need to collect some new seeds and berries" He smiled a little, the garden slightly greener than it was before, at least it wasn't the darker brown it was before.
