As odd as it sounds, (mostly because he's an ALIEN) the Doctor seems to be becoming a little too "human." As we saw in The Next Doctor, his companions, "Break [his] heart," (We'll ignore the fact that he has 2 hearts) to the point where he won't even accept a new companion into the TARDIS. (as seen in Planet of the Dead) So WTF? I remember back in the day when the Doctor would just go through companions like tissues. So I think they are changing the character to suit Matt Smith's emo look. Anyone agree? Anyone disagree? Share your thoughts.

Oh Gods I hope not! I was just being annoyed by this very tendancy. I'm really hoping that if he doesn't cheer up in the next year he'll do so with his regeneration. After all, his personality changes each time so it's a possibility. Anyway, if the keep up with the emo crap I'm likely to stop watching.

Same here. If the Doctor's turning into an emo-alien-fairy-boy, I'm going to stop watching him forever. *sniffle*

I just don't find someone who's depressed all the time all that interesting to watch. Doctor Who is supposed to be fun. I have hopes for Steven Moffat as the head writer though. He seems to like his Doctor with some smiles as welle as creeps.

I have a feeling it's going to jump from very emotional to
HORROR that little childern have horrible nightmare for weeks on end. And a girl for the Doctor each episode to snog. Steven Moffat's got a thing for...Mary Sues... scream

I think they're trying to go with what I like to call the Pixar approach to movie/tv making. Their trying to give the audience a lasting character we can "connect" with. However they seem to forget that Doctor Who fans usually aren't seven and can make emotional connection with characters that aren't attractive human females (because apparently EVERYONE can connect with that, right? rolleyes ) However Moffat was always the one who introduced new companion like characters (ei Jack or River Song). I just hope that he doesn't go over board like you suggest or that the darker theme for Who isn't actually his idea.

I don't think he's going emo! I just think he doesn't want to deal with losing more of the people he loves such as Rose or donna. The doctor is just scared

Emo? Hell no! His hearts are just broken. I mean, come on, who wouldn't? You know all those nicknames he has? He needs another one. The "Most Ordinary Human." He feels too much.

I hope he doesn't go emo. but the new guy looks good. But they are starting to get to the over done stage. Like, the finallae was too much "OMG HE IS GOING TO DIE!! BIG BUDGET!! Donna's finallae was way better. hell, eclleston had a better finalle, and he was only for one series, a trial

Oh yeah. By the end of it I was basically thinking "Just die already"! It went from emotional to lame.

Im telling you now that i dont consider my self a true doctor who fan i have only seen the 10th doctor. so i guess it my oppinion wont hold much weight but i have seen every regeneration and to me that seemed a little soppy. But i mean personaly i dont think its going emotional. sure he had a thing for rose and Martha Jones fell in love with him but i dont really consider it emotional.

I don't think he's going "emo" as much as "emotionally unstable and kind of childish," and it is interesting and occasionally fun to watch his temper tantrums, but if it continues I may have some Things. To. Say.
