What do you think was the best console era or generation?

Personally, I'm fond of the late 16-bit early 32-bit era. Why? Developers where finally getting the best out of the 16-bit machines e.g. Comix Zone. And when I first laid my eyes on the new 32-bit machines Saturn and Playstation I knew gaming was gonna be epic.

I love 16-bit most
16-bit games looked awesome, they had best music ever made, etc.
SNES was 16-bit console and it had some of best games ever, like Ninja Gaiden Trilogy, Final Fantasy III, Chrono Trigger, Zelda LTTP, Megaman X, Street fighter, Mortal Kombat, much much much much much much much much more. Games were everything they should be and most of games should still be like that... SMAG (Super Mega Awesome Graphics) are quite nice, but they just don't give that awesome feeling that you get when you play game on older console. Mostly it feels more like watching movie and I do love watching movies, but I rather watch them than play them... Sure some games like driving games and shooting games even some RPGs are great with SMAG and they wouldn't be quite as awesome with 16-bit graphics...

32 bit sounds fair for me.

The Nintendo 64 era was just epic to me ;]
