Druval is a small town in the midwest. It has a total population of around 2000 people. Everything about the town is "mom and pop." There is no chain of any kind that has taken root in the town of Druval, including the bank. There is a single grocery store, two gas stations, a town hall, a single building for all the grades, though they are separated out into several classrooms each, a small church, aand a jail. The police force is comprised of ten individuals and operates out of the jail and the fire department is entirely voluntary with only a single truck.

One woman trying to escape from the government has taken refuge here. They have been tracking her movements and have let her find work and 'make roots' in this tiny little town because she is something special. She truly believe that she has eluded the government and is trying to start a new life here in this town. She is constantly plagued with visions of the past and of her lost love.

Four college guys ready for spring break are headed across the country from Oregon. They pull in to a hotel in a tiny po-dunk town so that they can rest up for the next leg of their journey to Florida.

Four college girls, ready for their own spring break are headed across the country from New York. They pull into a hotel in the adorable little town and get a room for the night. They are headed to California.

One guy who had recently moved to Texas has found out that his mother is ill. He heads home to Druval to care for her.

The fugitive runs the hotel. The guys get rooms at the other end of the hotel from the girls. The man coming home lives just one block down from the hotel. Nobody knows it yet, but overnight the town is put on quarantine. The military sets up perimeters and checks. Nobody is allowed in or out of the town. All phone and internet lines have been severed and all cell towers that would provide service to the town no longer can. Their only communication from the outside world is the television.

The military's job is to prevent anyone from getting into or out of the city as well as catching the fugitive and any others who seem to go unaffected as they are discovered. They are to capture by any means necessary so long as they don't kill the target. Their orders are to wait for her to try to escape. Even she is, at this moment, unaware of what is happening all over again.

What happens when the guys discover their immunity? What happens when they discover that they can each read one of the women's minds? What happens when the girls discover their immunity? When they discover that they can each read one of the men's minds? What happens when they all realize what the others can do? How will things play out? How will they handle everything that is to come? What will they do when they discover the reason all of it is happening? What will she do?

Endless questions searching for the answers that you decide. Welcome to the second string of human testing of a virus that drives people insane with rage in a semi-controlled environment. Welcome to Druval's Quarantine.

I am moderator of this thread. What I say goes. Everyone knows what the rules are, so follow them. Also, this is a semi-lit thread, so I’d ask that you try to keep posts at least four sentences long. I enjoy romance in the thread... so almost anything that wouldn't directly get you banned is okay if two characters get together.

Bio

Andrew grew up under the best individuals, being the son of two prominent ranchers who brought up what they have now fromt he ground. His older brother also owned his own portion of land out in Montana somewhere. So where did Andrew fit in? He was what one would call the black sheep of the family. The young man was did not stack up to what his parent's expectations or the examples set by his elder sibling. He had a more lax attitude and since he knew that he could never do as well, and not for lack of trying, he had, in a way, given up long ago. Within a year or two of his older brother moving out, Andrew went off to Texas to try and make something of himself. He did quite well and was doing well. Leaving Druval was probably one of the best things that Andrew ever did for himself, got him out of the small town, where he felt trapped, but it was home none-the-less. But one strange day he’d gotten a call from home, saying his mother was sick. Now, he’s stuck to go back to Druval, wondering how much everything could have changed and wondering what could be wrong with his mother, he has come back to Druval.

DRUVAL GROCERY

Jack walked from the back of his store, closing the door securely. He moved to the front and clicked the open sign as he gazed out of the windows at the sun, just peaking over the budding trees in the distance. He shielded his eyes for a moment, letting the warmth of the morning sun wash over him. He slipped the key in the door lock and opened the small convenience store.

Jack lived alone, had since his wife's passing about five years ago. Vivian had been a fiery woman and she ran the store with an iron broom handle. Jack had always been more mellow, willing to help out those in need. He had seen much of the world in his seventy three years. Much had come and gone, and yet still it all remained the same. People would always be in need and it was his job to help them out. After all, if he wouldn't who would in this darkening world?

The milk didn't come for another couple days and the bread man was off today, so Jack had little to worry about. He had a television, but it didn't get much and he didn't care to watch it either. It had a tendency to give him headaches. Instead he passed his time reading or doing puzzlebooks. He wasn't open much longer than he was awake anyway. He opened it when he woke up and closed it about an hour before he went to bed. He didn't have hours on his window. Had never seen the use for them. If the sign was lit, he was open, if it wasn't he was closed. That's how the store had run for years.

Jack led his creaking bones around the counter and sat down, reaching under the counter to pick up a book he was reading on religion. He'd never been religious, but Vivian had been and had tried for years to instill it in him. Now with her gone, it made him wonder just what it was that had made her think that even if there were life aferward, that it would be good.

ANTIQUE AND PAWN

Matt unlocked the barred and screened doors to the pawn shop and let himself in. He wanted out of this dump. He didn't have much choice though. He knew he had to take care of his parents and run this crappy little antique and pawn shop. They didn't have anyone else to do it for them. He sighed as the door banged shut. He walked to the counter entrance and unlocked that before heading back to the vault. He opened it quickly and drew out one stack each of twenties, tens, fives, and ones and then pulled out small ziplock baggies of change that he put in the drawer.

He looked around at the merchandise that had no room on the floor, some of it truly ancient by his twenty-three year old reckoning, that they had stashed in the vault. He shook his head sadly. The value of that stuff on ebay would be priceless. He'd sell it after his parents died. He had already decided that.

Matt sighed as he sat down in front of the counter and opened up a car magazine he had left on the counter the night before. He pushed his sleeves up as he started to read. He hoped to one day own his own garage. The closest one was fifteen minutes outside of town. He had written in to this magazine several times on different topics and he'd gotten quite a bit of praise for the articles.

Matt's girlfriend stopped in shortly after he sat down. She usually did. She had a kid by one of Matt's best friends that she took to school. His friend had died in a racing accident when his brakes failed. He took care of her and the kid as much as he could, but he wanted more than this place had to offer.
