I don't suppose any Britons here happened to see The Narnia Code on the BBC sometime last week? It was a documentary that explained this guy's theory that C.S. Lewis based each of the Chronicles on a different 'planet' (Jupiter, Mars, the sun, the moon, Mercury, Venus and Saturn), using medieval connotations to these planets in the books. For example, Voyage of the Dawn treader was based around the sun. As well as the obvious examples of the light towards the end of the world and Ramandu the fallen star, in medieval times the sun was linked to dragons (the ship and Eustace's transformation?).
Anyhow, here's a link to the guy's website. Unfortunately, since he's written a book about it that he wants to sell, not all the information is given away but it's still pretty interesting. Any thoughts...?
