I have decided to kick off this role play forum with some role play practice. There is a catch to this, however. I will give 2 character descriptions, a male and female. I want the guys to make a first post as the girl character, and ladies, you post acting as the make character. This isn't going anywhere as an RP, I just want to know where everyone's abilities in role playing are.
I want this to be 3 paragraphs at least, because it is a first post and I want the poster to make up the story, so you will have to introduce the character and story in your post. I don't know of any writer that can do that in less than 3 paragraphs. The post can be any style or genre of role play, and the only real requirements I ask are that it is 3 paragraphs (or more if you want) and that you use the best English you possibly can.
To top it all off I want everyone that posts to stay in character. So without further any further delay I will post the character descriptions.
Character 1: Male Name: Kaiba Age: 18 Personality: Mysterious and shy but agressive when provoked. He is kind hearted in nature and loyal to anyone that he meets. Avoiding conversation whenever he can, he is a lone wolf who would rather do things on his own than in the company of others.
Character 2: Female Name: Akara Age: 17 Personality: Extremely outgoing and fun-loving, Akara loves to go out and party. She also really likes to be around people, although she can be pretty rude sometimes. She is highly intelligent and has a tendency to be a different person around friends than when she is out for a fun time.

(Well sure, why not..? You only live once..)
Akara walked gleefully down the halls of her school. She would pass friends occasionally and say hi with a smile. She was determined to get to the cafeteria and see him before lunch was over. As she pushed through the double doors of the lunch room, she saw him from across the mass of people. She began to walk faster, her determination and the butterflies in her stomach increasing as she got closer.
"Akara!" she heard, directly to her left. She stopped, and looked over at one of her friends, Tahiko.
"Oh, hi Tahiko.." she mumbled, looking over at him, making sure he isn't leaving.
"Are you alright Akara?" Tahiko asked. She knew her friend, and being quiet was not one of her easiest tasks.
"I'm fine, just trying to get something done. What do you want?" Akara said, tonelessly.
"Oh, I was just wondering if you were going to the formal... And who you were going with..?" Tahiko asked, seemingly interested.
Akara knew Tahiko and herself had been after the same guy for months, but Tahiko only had an interest in him because she wanted to take him from Akara. "That's not really your business... And I don't really know the answers. Please, excuse me." Akara abruptly turned and resumed her determined walk over to him.
As she grew closer, her breath increased. Even after all her preparation, she was still so nervous. As she got close enough for him to hear her, she yelled his name.
"Kaiba!"
(Ok this is the only thing I can think to do now, so hopefully the second person to post will be able to be the guy..)

(Actually, no lol. I don't like playing more than one individual, but when the time calls, it seems I have too.)

(sorry, that's just so I know what I'm working with)
I take a few tentative steps towards the front door, a glowing beacon in the near distance, just out of reach. I sigh deeply as I hear the heavy door creak open behind me. I turn lightly on the balls of my feet, trying to avoid waking the Others. "Lucinda, honey, what are you doing up so early?" I whisper gently to the soft grey eyes peeking through the crack in the doorway. Lucy smiles, knowing I only call her Lucinda when I am trying to persuade her not to rat on me. She shuffles silently out into the hall, blinking her doe-like eyes in the darkness, still a little confused from her sleep. She smiles again, that sweet little smile that just melts my heart, and I go to her, lift her into my arms, carry her to her bed, setting her down among the mass of fluffy blankets. "Go to sleep, sweetie. Dream sweet, beautiful dreams," I breathe into her ear, and she nods her head, eyelids heavy, and after just a moment I know she's asleep. I pad gently out to the hallway, snag my favorite leather jacket, ease open he front door, and I'm gone, free! I make my way to my car, roll it silently down the driveway, start the ignition, and I'm off, whipping through the streets, the wind in my hair. My thoughts stray back to Lucy, the only girl I have ever loved. I sigh when I think of her soft black curls, just like mine. But those eyes, no one has those eyes. They stare hauntingly back at me in my mind as I sit on that flat, rusty colored rock, hidden in an aclove of trees, right off the lake. I sigh and lay back, eyelids closed, those eyes dancing on my eyelids like the moon gleaming above me in that dark sky. I shudder and drift off into unconsciousness, such a deep, sad sleep.....

[[OOC- let's work some lyrical magical roleplay magic for this! ^^ 3 paragraphs, eh? no sweat! ]] [[ P.S oh- and it's in 3rd person. 1st person would've been nice for mine too, but I didn't know which one you'd want sweatdrop ]] Kaiba walked slowly in the morning dew. He threw his head back, yawning awfully loud. It would've probably awoken the entire neighborhood. But no matter, that was your usual Kaiba: always yawning in the morning. No, Kaiba isn't a morning person. In fact, he hated mornings. The only time mornings were good was when he still lived with his grandma and she'd always make the greatest breakfasts! But no. Now, Kaiba lived by himself, for his grandmother had recently become very ill and was resting in the hospital. Kaiba was on his own, out and about, and lived in his grandma's house alone. So, that resulted in no more home-made meals. Just some ramen and frozen foods.
Speaking of home-cooked meals, what if a cute girl made him a nice dinner? It would make him happy, but he blushed at the mere thought. Kaiba was a very shy boy who didn't talk to girls much unless he's known them for a while or so. But the meals he'd probably miss most were his grandma's. But what did it matter? No girl would ever cook for him... and it was a smaller chance that any girl would ever even offer-
"Kaiba-kun!" A familiar voice brought him out of his thoughts. "Yo!"
It was Aimi Ikusawa. A childhood friend of his that he's known just about since he was... 5 was it? SHE would be the only girl that would ever offer or even cook for Kaiba. And SHE was the only girl he never hesitated around (especially because of her pure bizarreness).
"Aimi..." He sighed and forced a smile.
"Hey! What's that all about? Why so glum, Kai-kun? Is it about your food again? I swear that I'll cook or even bring my mom's delicious goodies!"
"No need... I'll- I'll manage."
Actually, I'd love to eat your cooking! But being who he was, he'd never say it. In cooking class, he had observed her meals and they looked real good. But, his shyness was totally bombarding his stomach.
Kaiba brushed his hand through his dark brown hair and glared at her. "And anyway, what're you doing here? Shouldn't you be off with your friends?"
She looked at him, a bit surprised, and then just laughed. "You are my friend, silly!"
"That's not the point!"
Giving up, Kaiba sighed and heard a group of girls chanting Aimi's name as they neared the school. He looked over and down at her as she smiled cheerfully (like always) and ran off, waving goodbye ti Kaiba. He didn't return the goodbye and just walked off. He'd rather spend his time alone rather than with others. They were so meddlesome. He was a lonewolf. You could never really tell what was on his mind either because of his blank expression that could mean many things (especially because this was Kaiba). But walking off, he entered the school.
[[P.S (again) HOW WAS IT, HOW WAS IT???? ]]

The Night Faery Vice Captain
|
Posted: Mon Apr 27, 2009 10:27 pm
The clock had finally struck midnight, and the last traces of moonlight had been consumed by the dark, rolling clouds that signified an approaching storm.
Kaiba smiled. He had always loved the rain.
He was sitting on the roof of a house, nestled behind the chimney on the street-facing slope. Directly beneath him, loud music pulsed and throbbed, taking dozens of partygoers back to their primal instincts, to the very core of human nature, moving in unison with one another and never wanting to stop. That was the thing about music—it had the power to fill anybody with emotion, elation, pure desire…
Kaiba had been disappointed the first time he realized that music never had any effect on him. Once upon a time, he had wanted to fit in, to be accepted by everybody, to be somebody. Then, he began to truly become accepted—people started inviting him to parties, girls started taking interest—and he realized that it wasn’t what he had thought it would be, and that he really was meant to be on his own. He had been invited to this gathering, as he had been with so many before, but just like with the previous ones, he had made up a previous engagement. He always showed up, but nobody ever knew it. Sometimes it was painful to be so close to people, almost a part of human society, and yet so distant.
A few voices suddenly became a little louder, and he realized that a small section of the party had spilled out onto the sprinkler-dampened lawn. There were a few guys under the false impression that they were being witty, and some loud girls who were probably endorsing their delusions. And then… then there was her. Kaiba practically melted at the sight of her. She was talking politely to some kid who was obviously reaching way out of his league, and not once did she show the slightest disinterest in their conversation. That was part of what was so wonderful about her; she held so much sway over her peers, and yet she showed the same unconditional kindness to everyone who needed it.
Kaiba felt himself leaning forward, and his foot slid out, banging against the gutter. He pulled it up as quickly as it had slipped, ducking his head back behind the chimney, but it was too late. The talking ceased abruptly, and he could feel the sets of narrowed eyes peering up in his direction.
“Did you hear that?” one of the girls asked, no doubt using the hint of fear in her voice as leverage to get a protective arm wrapped around her shoulders.
“Come on, let’s go inside.” The voice probably came from the guy who ended up comforting the nervous girl. “It’s getting cold out here anyway.”
The group moved back into the noisy house—except for one. “I know you’re up there,” she said softly. Kaiba swallowed hard, trying to shut her voice out of his mind, but at the same time willing it to consume him. “You don’t need to be afraid.”
After another long moment’s painful silence, she pulled open the sliding glass door and went back inside. Kaiba let out a breath that he hadn’t known he was holding, and stared up at the night sky as if searching for some sign of help. You don’t need to be afraid, he told himself, wishing the words sounded as wonderful coming from his own mind as they did from her voice.
The rain began to fall.
You don’t need to be afraid.
((Yeah. That was mine... my first posts are always ridiculously long. And I always put way too much description and not enough dialogue or action. lol... Anyway, hope you all liked it.))
