History
Morning Musume resulted 1997 from a Casting in the TV (TV show "Asayan"). Actually there should be choosen one girl but it came all differently. Among all participants were 5 girls (Aya Ishiguro, Youko Nakazawa, Natsumi Abe, Kaori Iida and Asuka Fukuda). Certainly these girls didn´t won the audition, it was Heike Michiyo. This girl didn´t have much success and the producer, Tsunku, decides to make a deal with the 5 girls. The should sell 50.000 Cds of their Single "Ai no tane" in one week and he would make them popular. With pain and misery they made it with.
Tsunku wanted to make the band bigger so he let join 3 girls in 1998: Mari Yaguchi, Kei Yasuda and Sayaka Ichii. Their first album released also in the same year. Asuka Fukuda to graduated from Morning Musume so Tsunku needed a follower for her. 1999 Maki Goto joined the group and their most successful single "Love Machine" released. Tsunku also creates the first two sub groups Tanpopop and Pucchi Moni.
Aya Ishiguro graduated also and Morning Musume got four new members in 2000: Rika Ishikawa, Hitomi Yoshizawa, Nozomi Tsuji, and Ai Kago. Later the sub group Mini Moni was born. After there second successfully single "Happy Summer Wedding" Sayaka Ichii graduated from MoMusu and short time later Youko Nakazawa also. 2001 was another casting for MoMusu and four new girls joined them, Risa Niigaki, Makoto Ogawa, Ai Takahashi and Asami Konno. In September 2002 Maki Goto also graduated and in the beginning of 2003 Kei Yasuda did it also. Again 3 new girls were choosen from a MoMusu casting (Sayumi Michishige, Reina Tanaka and Eri Kamei) and a successful solo artist of Hello!Project, Miki Fujimoto, also joined Morning Musume.
Tsunku decided to splitt Morning Musume into two group, Morning Sakura and Morning Otome because 15 member was very much. Morning Musume didn´t disband.
In the beginning of 2004 Natsumi Abe graduated from Morning Musume to follow her solo carieer. Ai Kago and Nozomi Tsuji also graduated in summer 2004 (they created the duo "W"). A new casting was hold to find the 7th generation of Morning Musume, but Tsunku didn´t found the "ACE" girl and none girls was choosen. In the beginning of 2005 Kaori Iida graduated from Morning Musume and Rika Ishikawa will follow her in May. A new 7th generation casting was announced for spring 2005. Before Rika graduated Mari shocked all MoMusu Fans with her spontaneous resignation in April 2005! Because of that Morning Musume reached with Osaka Koi no uta, after 3 Top 10 singles, the Top 3.
The second 7th generation casting ends with the result that Tsunku let Koharu Kusumi join Morning Musume. Then Rika hold in May the 5th her last concert. Morning Musume Single and Koharus debut "Iroppoi Jirettai" was the first single which sold above 80.000 copies.
In April ´06 the next graduations were announced. Asami Konno left H!P in July and Makoto Ogawa in August. Both left because of study. Makoto stayed in H!P! In August 2006 the 8th generation casting was announced and "Aruiteru" was released in November. It´s became the best selling single for 2006!
Because of Morning Musume 10th year anniversary in 2007 the sub-group "Morning Musume. Tanjo 10 Kinentai" was founded which consists of older and latest Morning Musume members. In December 2006 Aika Mitsui became a member of the group!
In January 2007 it was announced that Hitomi Yoshizawa will graduate in May 2007. In March 2007 it was announced that Morning Musume will get two other 8th Generation members from China, Quian Lin und Lin Chun.
In June Miki Fujimoto guitts Morning Musume because of her relationship to Shouji Tomoharu. Ai Takahashi became the Leader and Risa Niigaki the Sub-Leader.
Even thought two popular members were gone "Onna ni sachi are" became a successful single. But in november "Mikan" shocked with very low sales. It became their worst sold single!
In 2008 they released "Resonant Blue" and it was a success! Right now Morning Musume promote them self a lot in other asia country like china, taiwan and korea. Their Single Best of album reached the top 10 in tawain!
