RULES VERSION 1.0
Until Further Notice Let's go with Ten Commandments. COMMANDMENT THE FIRST...
1. Thou Shalt Not Whine for Gold. For thine Guild is not Chatterbox. Thou will not make posts saying verily though hast been Hackthed. The way of Spam leads to damnation, to banning! However, thou may maketh posts about thine quests, if not placed in inappropriate places, or soliciting thine fellow Guildies.
COMMANDMENT THE SECOND
2. Thou Shalt Obey the TOS (Terms of Service) of Gaia. I sayth onto you that this is a Gaia guild and must abide by the sacred laws of Gaia. Who so ever breakth these rules of Gaia shall be warned, and banned if no corrective action is taken. For it is the right of Gaia to delete Guilds whom do not abide by these sacred laws. And I say onto you, we liketh our Guild.
COMMANDMENT THE THIRD
3. In the holy words of the Saint Aretha of Franklin, R-E-S-P-E-C-T. You will not be banned for a dissenting opinion. You do not have to like or get along with everyone else. But verily, we art adults. As adults you should be able to differentiate between personal attacks and debating. Be mindful of what you write. If you write something rash you may always use the "edit" button for your posts. Some religious/personal/political/financial/musical leanings of other members may clash with your own, but you can still play nice. Being respectful doesn't mean you agree, but it does mean you act like adults.
COMMANDMENT THE FOURTH
4. We sayth onto you that we shall Organize our art! There are different sensibilities to art. Even within the Gaia TOS we have an array of material that ranges from too innocent for Disney to too creepy for Tim Burton. If you make an art/writing/etc thread that may be a little more PG 13, etc please label it. If you make a rated G thread, please label. This is a precaution so that if someone is offended by drawings of people in skimpy outfits, or reading stories with violent content, that they do not read these things. This is a Guild that allows non artists and artists alike. By having things labeled and rated people can choose to view or not view-- and you have
some level of protection. Use discretion though.
COMMANDMENT THE FIFTH
5. Thou Shalt Pay attention to where thou posts. Unlike most of Gaia you need not fear posting something in the wrong subforum or area with two exceptions. The first exception is something VERY obvious-- in those cases we may move your thread. Since we currently lack Subforums, this is a moot point. The second is more important. Artwork/Writing will be an exception. As previously mentioned we are trying to mark clearly art threads so that means no super graphic pictures in a thread titled "This thread is so Rated G Sesame Street looks scandalous by comparison"
COMMANDMENT THE SIXTH
6. Thou shalt not give crappy criticism. Heed my words that nobody likes a critique of "it sucks". If you have something negative to say frame your comments in a way that invites improvement. Also, keep in mind if the author/artist has said "this is a sketch" or "this needs work". Would you drive by an unfinished construction site and complain that the walls do not have paint on them? Also we want to encourage multiple levels of artistic skill and talent. For some people that may be stick figures. However, if you are the person posting something that looks like scribbles, it does help if you explain what it is about the scribbles you like. It's ok to be abstract, but sometimes a heads up is nice. If there's a story behind it, tell us.
COMMANDMENT THE SEVENTH
7. Thou shalt post.
COMMANDMENT THE EIGHTH
8. Thou shalt not steal the works of others. Now, parodies are one thing. I also realize that sometimes you might use/borrow stock images from searches for backgrounds and such in your work. Give credit-- beware of copyrights. Good options are to look for images that are public domain, start a guild thread for stock photos, or contact the author if need be.
COMMANDMENT THE NINTH
9. Thou Shalt not make Discriminatory Comments (racist, sexist, ethnocentric, etc...). This is not to say we don't make the occasional joke--- but be extremely cautious. It may not be read with the same humor you wrote it with. Keep in mind also that Avatars may not reflect the gender, race, ethnicity, or nationality of the member.
COMMANDMENT THE TENTH
10. Thou shalt enjoy!
