Thunder rolled in the sky promising a fast approaching storm, though it wasn't fast enough for her tastes. Devin was in a rather black mood, her visions irking all hell out of her. She knew her fate and had come to terms with that but to be constantly reminded was fo r more than she could stand. How her mother dealt with it on a day to day basis was beyond her but then again, she had Tyranny. Devin had no one...well now at least, not intimately. She had a friend...well an associate but that was it.

Thunder...that meant a storm was coming. Szergei had no love for being caught out in a storm. But he had not prepared for one either. With all his aimless meandering over the grasslands it wasn't like he had invested in finding a safe hole to hide in from the weather. Well, this would serve as a lesson to be learned...again... he hadn't quite learned from the last storm he had been caught in had he?
So the thunder sounded, and the blue and black marked cub picked up his pace to a hurried jog. Tree's would be a bad choice to seek shelter under. But not seeking shelter would also be a bad choice... Szergei paused and lifted his head to view the sky. Perhaps if he headed off at an angle he could skirt the worst of the storm? He doubted he'd run into a pride anywhere out here. He'd seen no one but the insects the past two days. Ugh... and he didn't want to think about them right now. Annoying buggers, litterally!
With a shake of his head, he started off once more. A tree it would be then. If he was lucky it would not attract the lightning. Though why lightning and tree's called to each other he hadn't figured out yet. Honestly. It wasn't a very good match up. It wasn't like anything good could come from such a meeting.
Another rumble of thunder came, high overhead, and Szergei threw his head back and berated the sky. "I KNOOOOOOW your there! Stop reminding me!!"

Her ears perked when a voice aside from the one of her thoughts presented itself. She turned her head in the direction the voice came form and nearly fell from her perch on the branches of the tree when a flash presented itself before her minds eye. Deplorable visions. A low growl left her lips as she maneuvered her way back onto her branch. Taking a deep breath, she sorted her thoughts and again looked back to the source of the voice.
Small snippets of the cubs future showed themselves to her, giving the new presence a shape to her empty eye sockets. Soft whispers, known ad heard only by her spoke to her, revealing his fate to her. She knew what would happen if she told him what lay in store for him so she didn't even waste time to entertain the thought of telling him. So why try to lend a helping paw if all it would do was change his fate to possibly something far worse than what he was promised now.
"Why do you speak to the sky when it will not answer?"

Szerei's steps came up short. his little ears pricked forwards at the unexpected voice. Well he hadn't expected that! A reply! Szergei turned his head upwards, and of course he scanned the dark clouds first, before checking out the limbs of the tree nearby. He could spy now, that he as actually looking, a darker form loungeing up abouve.
"But the sky did answer. In a way." He called upwards, a happy lit to his voice. How unexpected!
"You know a storm is coming. You shouldn't be in the tree. The sky likes to kiss the tree's when there is a storm."

"This tree has been kissed by the sky many a storm but this time it will go unscathed and even if the fates chose to change that, it's rather difficult to kill that which is already dead." Devin pushed her self up from her lounging position and maneuvered her way down the branch and bark of the tree until she now stood on solid ground.
From there she began circling the cub, taking a particular interest in him. "I can't say I've ever seen the thread that fate has spun for you before. You must be new to this area. I am the seer and princess of the pride of rogues called Eo Umbra. My name is Devin. It is nice meeting you Szergei."

Szergei's eyes widened a incredible amount when the speaker in the tree came down low enough for him to see. Immediatly his ears laid back to his head. What a...a... He could not think of a descriptive word for this female. She was certainly older then him.But she looked like... she was dead! And what were those wings on her shoulders?
She seemed quite certain of herself that the tree would be safe. So perhaps he would stay here beneath it when the storm came. Then again, should he trust a dead lion? She could be speaking tricks. Did dead lions do that?
Szergei's mind was aflame with new questions for certain.
"You know my name? How do you know my...a Seer? How can you see with no eyes?" Szergei's ears began to lift forwards as he twisted and turned his head to watch the circling of the female.
"Are you dead? You look dead, but your not. Or are you a spirit? Are there such things as spirit lions? I don't think spirits would belong to a pride though. Rouge or otherwise." He felt a font of questions that begged to be answered. There was no fear or distrust in him at this moment. Just the burning need to know more about this female.

"So many questions and though you have a life time to learn the answers, you won't even begin to have uncovered the answers for all of them. One does not need eyes to see, all they need are vibrations of some sort be they physical, paranormal or just another level of being all together." Her circling ceased and she now took a seat on her haunches before him.
"I see through glimpses of ones fate. Tis the curse placed on the females of my mothers bloodline because of a transgression to a god many many moons ago, before my mothers birth...generations before her time. I am no spirit, though they do exist and roam these lands just as you and I do. I am dead and yet at the very same time I m as alive as you. I am an undead. Spirits do belong to prides, contrary to what you may think, after all just because they no longer have a physical form does not mean they no longer have the feelings of loneliness and need for acceptance from when they were of flesh and bone."

Szergei felt a childish desire to poke at her with one paw and to see if perhaps the pads would pass through her strange looking wings. Though he did lift one of his paws, it was only to set it back down into a more comfortable stance. It would have been mean to poke at her. So instead he remained sitting and faceing her. At least she was no longer circling him, this meant he could look upon her strait on now.
"I can try to learn all I can." He countered to her claim he would never gain all the answers he sought. Though he found it interesting as she spoke of other wasys to see. It made him think of the elder lion that spoke to other creatures besides lions. Well..if one could speak differently why couldn't one see differently? Szergei lifted his paw again and placed it over one of his eyes, and the other he squinted at the female.
"Can I learn to see differently too? Is it something that can be taught? You say it's a curse but...I don't seem to think it is. Seeing the fate of others is informative. You know things about them right away. Like how you knew my name. I'll bet you knew I wouldn't hurt you too. That is a useful thing to see."
Spirits... With his paw still on his one eye, Szergei tilted his head and squinted at the area around them. The storm was still coming, so it was surely getting darker, but still he tried to see. "Are there spirits around here now? Do Spirits stay with the Pride they lived in? Or do they start their own prides? If you are not alive...does that mean you'll fall apart eventually? Or will you stay like you are?"

"Yes you can try to learn all that you can, but even still you will not gain access to all answers for not all answers are meant to be known for they are answers that many can not handle, not in this life or the next." She looked to him and smiled slightly. He sure was an inquisitive cub and the fact that he was asking her these questions made her feel...well honored. She may have been older than him but not by much. It appears that the fates sent her a possible pupil.
"To that which is beyond this realm is a technique that can be taught, though I am far too young and still far too inexperienced to teach it. One must have a tutor who has mastered their own sight. Yes, knowing what is to come before it comes is a gift...but to see the fates of other and not be able to tell them what lies in store because upon it's reveling it will only change into something far worse is not a gift. To see your own dismal fate at every waking moment, knowing there is nothing you can do to make is better, is no gift. To see the deaths of those who you care for before it happens is no gift. Living a life unknowing of what the future will bring...that is a gift."
She raised a paw to her throat, feeling the exposed muscles and sighed. "There are no spirits amongst us now. Some spirits stay within the pride they lived in, protecting the other members more fiercely than ever, while others join other prides for one reason or another...then there are some who seek out others like them and make prides of their own. The actions taken really depends on the individual."
"When one is not alive...they do not fall apart. More like fade away. If one does not find a purpose to stay present among the living they are forced to move on. You stay as you are in a sense though you will continue to grow as you would if still alive. The spirit is far stronger than the body, after all, the body is nothing more than a physically shell that protects the soul until it is strong enough to fend for itself."

For a moment Devin's words left Szergei's head buzzing. he had to relisten to them in his head before he could make complete sense of them. "Well... I will learn what I can reguardless and keep it to myself if others should not know it. Knowledge and wisdom is not meant for everyone."
Szergei dropped his paw from his eye as Devin would explain to him a bit more about the sight. The fact that it could be taught caused his tail to curl with a eagerness he was hard pressed not to show. He wanted to learn this seeing! "So if i wait...you'll be able to teach me how to see differently? I can wait.I have other things to learn. Right now I am learning to talk to other things. Like spiders and bugs. They can talk too, did you know that? I'm just not listening well enough. So I practice listening very hard every day. I think I'm picking up some things, but I'm not sure yet..."
His eager prattle quickly died away, to be replaced with a more somber expression as Devin spoke of the less pleasent things she could see. Yet...all he could think to ask after a moment were simple questions...
"Happy things." He stated after a moment of thought. "What about the happy things? Falling in love. Meeting new friends. Having cubs. What about the happy things in between? Can you see those too? Why would you think about the end and just skip over the middle?" He was curious to know. Did seeing the future make a person forget about the stuff that happened before it happened? It may not be a gift in that sense then...but...it had to be a matterof perspective.

"Yes if you wait a while longer and I am able I will teach you. Tis not something I would teach a cub less they already have the ability. Youth tend to be far to innocent for this sort of thing. I know well that insects speak. All things do, some are just more attune to understanding them then others are. There is a nymph some ways away from her that can speak with the earth."
With a flash of lightning and a loud crack of thunder, the rain came pouring down. The canopy of the tree they sat under did well in keeping them dry, though there were instances where a good amount of rain managed to seep in. "I can see them...when he allows it." She paused for a moment thinking over if she should continue or not. Surely Szergei would be curious of who this 'he' was that she spoke of. "But for the most part, the happy things that I see are just snippets. I haven't gotten the whole seeing deal down. My mother is still in the process of teaching me how to control my sight."

Thus spoken, it was as good as a promise to Szergei. His eyes lit up and his tail curled upwards at the mention of such teaching. He would just love to be able to learn something so unusual! It would be one more thing to add to all the other things he was sure to one day know.
"A nymph? What is that? Some kind of deer? Or is it a rabbit?" He asked with such curiousity. If it spoke to the earth it could be a mole. A mouse maybe? "I want to learn to speak to as many things as I can, so they can tell me things as well. Though...I don't want to learn to speak grasshopper. Since I eat them I do not want to be able to know what they are saying before I bite them."
Whatever else Szergies rambling may have led him to speak came to a halt as the heavens opened up. He turned his head and looked out over the grass, to see the water fall down in it's hazy sheet before he shifted himself closer to the tree for better shelter.
"Who is He?" Szergei asked as he flipped a paw over his ear. A drop of water had made it through already and splashed on the thin skin, thus irritating him for a moment. "If you can't see everything, and can't see the happy stuff, then I would be happy. It means life still has lots of surprises in store for you. It sounds like this sight is a very important thing though. I'll be very good at trying to learn it when your ready...in the mean time...can this deer rabbit thing teach me to talk to the earth? Maybe I can get it to tell me some stories."

"No, a nymph is a creature of the earth...a smaller ranking deity I guess you could say. Yes she more than likely could teach you how to communicate with the earth and how to live better off the land.I'm sure she'd love to tell you stories...I wouldn't be surprised if she tries to adopt you. The nymph called Belladonna is a nurturing individual who loves cubs."
Devin, tired of sitting up, allowed her self to fall over onto her side and stretched out, yawning for a brief moment before Szergei inquired of the 'He' she spoke of. "He is an ancient evil that has tormented my mother all her life and now shines his attention on me. A demon older than Lucifer himself...the demon called Belial."

As it would seem that Devin was making herself comfortable, Szergei found himself inclined to do the same. He flopped down on his belly, his back legs kicking out behind him and his front regally posed before him.
"Then I'll go find this nymph and ask her to teach me to speak to the earth. I wonder how long it will take? Probably a long time..." That would put a damperon his roaming quest to learn other things but...he did have an entier lifetime to learn... so long as he learned it in time to come back, find Devin, and have her teach him how to see things. "If Belladonna likes cubs so much then I'm sure she'll teach me. Though I'm not so sure about the adopting thing...I have a mother somewhere. I'm sure I'll find her again, I'm not sure how she'll feel if I replace her. Do you think she'd be unhappy about that?"
The conversation was turning to something less light hearted, and Szergei paused before speaking. His eyes looked at Devin and he decided....she really needed eyes. It would have made it easier to understand how she was feeling at that moment, so he could know whether or not to ask her about such things as what they were now speaking of.
"Whats a demon? Why doesn't he like you or your mother? Did she turn him away as a mate?"

She smirked, a rare thing for her.
"The time it takes for you to learn how to speak with the earth really depends on you. Everyone is different when it comes to learning skills like that. Where one may learn it in a year or two it may take another until they are old to learn. So long as the female loves you and doesn't expect you to completely turn your back on her, I'm sure your birth mother will be fine with someone adopting you. After all, no good mother would want her cubs wandering around with no true home or means of protection."
She grew silent, trying to think of the best course of explaining what a demon was to a kit who clearly had no knowledge of the paranormal realm and the entities that occupied it.
"Well in order to understand what a demon is, you must first understand what an angel is and the realms they comes from as well as the higher ranking deities they must answer to. Such a topic can cause much conflict because there are many different beliefs on the issue. However, I will try to explain it to you from what I have come to learn and perceive so that you may get a better understanding of things.
There is a powerful being known as God. In many other beleifs he or she, seeing as the gender of this being is unknown, is known as Alah, Buddah, Ra etc. God created angels, beings that are much like him/her but not as powerful. Their job is to serve as guides and protectors to the mortals. Lions like you and I. They are completely pure individuals that are not influenced by sin at all, like mortals are.
Demons are the opposites of angels. Demons are angels that have fallen from the grace of god and have been corrupted by sin. A mortal doesn't have to do anything to get a demon to not like them. It is just in a demons nature to seek out a mortal to torture them by any means possible. Be it torturing physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. The demons listen to one demon of higher rank, a former angel who was favored by god over all of his other angels. His name is Lucifer. He is thought to be the prince of darkness though his former position was the angel of light. It is also thought that he was the very first demon and that is because very few know of Belial.
Belial is actually the very first demon, and the very same demon that convinced Lucifer to turn his back to God and wage war against him. He made Lucifer grow jealous of the mortals because of the fact that we were given free will and angels were not. Through time though, Belial faded from knowledge because when Lucifer was cast out from grace and out of heaven he was given free reign of the earth and was dubbed ruler of hell.
Heaven and hell are two realms of which your soul must go when you die if you have no reason to stay amongst the living. Heaven is a place of peace and beauty. There you will not need for anything. Only those who are over all good are allowed to go there once they die. Hell is a place of pain and suffering. Those who lived their life in sin and took joy in hurting others go there when they die. They will forever burn in the lake of fire as punishment for the foul lifestyle they lived."
She paused a moment to catch her breath then continued.
"Belial likes no one but himself. Even if he shows some interest in you it's only for personal gain. My mother was to be his mate because of a curse that was placed on her bloodline, however when she became pregnant with me, his sights turned to me and I am to be his. It is my destiny to bare his cubs ad bring on a whole new era to the world that we know."
