I find the argument that all truth is relative incredibly amusing, especially when it's used to debunk somebody else's faith. I'll tell you why this is so amusing.

If truth is entirely relative and based on the personal experiences of an individual, then nothing can be wrong and nothing can be right.

The following is a conversation with a “relativist” theologian:

Theo: Truth is relative. If a person believes God is real, he is real to them but not for anyone who doesn't believe in him.

Me: So if I believe you are not real, then you stop existing?

Theo: No

Me: Why not?

Theo: Because I can prove I exist

Me: How? You're nothing more than text on a screen and any picture you send to me is mere pixels formed together to form a visual aid. Even if I called and heard your voice, I could debunk that as computerized output, like a robot.

Theo: Just because you think something isn't real doesn't make it not real.

Me: Then how can you say that God doesn't exist simply because you and others don't believe he does?

Theo: ...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Relative truth is the perfect example of circular reasoning that many people claim Christians use. If you can think something in or out of existence then how can you possibly exclusively deny the existence of anyone's beliefs?

There are definitely absolutes in this world...and those of you who don't believe the way I do....sad news for you...I just thought you out of existence. My bad!

I love how the theologian is stumped rofl

As for me.. I don't deny the existence of anyone's beliefs, so I really don't know what to say here.
For all I know, all gods exist, or no gods exist at all.
For all I know, I may really exist, or I may simply be a figment of someone's imagination, only existing because that person believes that I exist.

I wonder if gods feel as creeped out as I do right now O__O

Truth is just a word we use to describe the absence of a lie.

Reality is the way the world objectively is.

Not all things can be understood objectively. *shrug*

I'd have to say that the majority of the people I've met, and I have traveled all over the country, cannot view most things objectively. In fact, if you're personally involved in an experience, chances are you can't view it in comeplete objectivity.

Reality is another word that can be seen as a personal experience. Some people call reality a relative notion. The simple fact is, the constant circular reasoning that's used to deny a person the right to believe what they decide to believe, which is entirely based on personal experience of some sort, is nothing short of hypocricy.
