I am a hypocrite, and a horrible person. I understand any hatred garnered, and/or respect I may have lost, from my recent foolish antics over this past weekend. What I did was wrong, and put others (who didn't deserve to be) in danger. Although I have the right to enjoy and express myself, it shouldn't be allowed if it puts others lives at risk.

Millefune Davo Dinkum Wow how much have I missed, I was only gone for a few days?? Check the 12th post on the 3rd page of Jennifer's thread. Ahh c'mon mill, I know most people go through a "Street racer" phase, But I though you'd be a little past that. But because I know your not some dumbass retard that thinks he's all tough because he "expresses himself on the street" I'll say Good Job, Hopefully you've had your fix and nobody got hurt in the process. smile

Nobody got hurt, but that doesn't give me the right to put others at risk. It's sad because I am past that phase, and yet I still got caught up in all the testosterone and hatred for ricers... that I became one. Everything I did was on clear stretches and straights and whenever I saw traffic up ahead, I either slowed down and cut it out, or didn't go for it. Still, it's unsafe, and even though I didn't do stupid s**t like weave through traffic, my accepting challenges or picking fights caused others to do it. It was a mistake, and there is no justification for it. There's only the thanks that no one got hurt.

no need to apologize to us for that. it happens to the best of us. im not pointing fingers and shouting hypocrite and im sure no one else will.
yeah racing should be kept on the track. but some people just have it coming.
my only question is why on earth someone in a 05 or so mustang decided to try to race me in my COROLLA on the highway last night. my stock corolla.
when I have my del Sol out, no one tries anything. but when I'm in the 'grandma car' come on! I've had RSX's and fox-body 5.0s try to get me to race them...all on the highway. i just dont get it.
you didn't become a 'ricer'. you just let your pride get the best of you. it happens.
im glad no one got hurt though. thats the important thing.
take it as a lesson. you asked me if I drive hard on public roads, even if they are empty late at night they're still public and anything can happen. I don't apologize for it. like I said, I never drive more than 7/10ths on the street. no double-laning, brake early and take the early apex.
i've already had my lesson when I got a case of road rage and decided to make a pass in a turn. that resulted in me losing my first del Sol. rolled it 3 times. lucky to be here.

^^^Now you know why I keep my track car de-rego'd and have a daily that can't go fast on its best day(and will probably explode the day after if pushed LOL) We have to know ourselves in this respect, and catch ourselves before it happens. Takes LOTS of effort, but it may save our lives(and quite possibly someone else's.)

We all do things we regret. The thing is...is it really fair (to yourself) to regret the things you enjoyed doing? You've just got to weigh up the risks. And you know just as much as me and anyone else, that taking those risks and getting your heart to beat faster is what makes life living.
If you never want to do this ever again, then you have two options avaialble to you. One, sell the GTO and sell your AutoX car and ride around on a bicycle. Or you completely track out your GTO and get your thills on a race track making passes on other tack cars.
The reality is that as much as we'd all love a motorsport that was cheap and afordable, its not going to happen. You need LUCK; MONEY; and OPPORTUNITY to make it happen. Some of us just where delt a different set of cards mate. Your GTO was ment to be driven. So drive it, and enjoy it.
If there was a nice deserted one way two lane road in the country side, and one of your good mates pulled up next to you, I certainly see no harm in showing him what you and the GTO are made of.
Its all very well to nanny and wear helmets and stay away from motorcycle thugs and not do backflips into the pool. But thats not much of a life.
Personally I don't push it when there are other people in the car, I don't play dodge in and out between traffic to keep my speed up, and I don't speed though places where I know kids are playing.
Its all very well to say don't do this, do do that. But that makes it more appealing to people. Best way is to show them the right way, the best way you know how. If thats racing on the track, then you're welcome to sponcer them for a season and pay for thier fuel, tires and race kit.

Dont even worry about it man, im sure that everyone in this guild is a safe driver and would rather race on the track than on the street, but even sometimes temptation gets the best of us. Specially due to F&F being out, and all the idiots thinking they have fast riced out cars. I know i shut down a couple civics, 2 or 3 240s, and a really weak mustang with my Montero over the past weekend/week. sweatdrop
And for the record, these guys revved their engines at me, i didnt challenge them, and im sure everyone knows i drive a an 02 Montero Sport, not exactly something that people race.
