(I'll move this to the Entertainment Room later; I don't think anybody ever looks in there D: )

So did anyone else know they made a live-action movie of Where the Wild Things Are? I just saw a trailer for it, and I'm super excited. That was one of the books that defined my childhood, and while I'm a bit nervous that they adapted it into a movie, I'm going on a little faith here. Hopefully all the good parts of the movie aren't shown in the trailer.

Plus there's a song by the Arcade Fire in the trailer, and that just makes me squeal like a little girl. Even if the song doesn't appear in the movie itself, which it probably won't, I won't be too disappointed.

Is anyone else excited about this? Am I just a big dork? Do you want to howl like Wild Thing? xD

I would have preferred this in animation, in Maurice Sendak's marvelous art style. The monsters look exactly like what they are--people in large, bulky costumes lumbering about.
And this boy looks too old to be Max.

I seriously love WTWTA
I studied it a few weeks ago at uni, in Reading Children's Texts.
It's so dark and twisted!

Awesome story!!! I am a bit concerned about how they will stretch it out into a "whole" feature length version. Is Maurice Sendak involved in this (or is he around still) eek biggrin

Maurice Sendak is still around, and worked as a writer and producer on the film. Also, I just looked at his Wikipedia entry for the first time, and apparently he's gay! I had no idea. xD Doesn't really matter to me, but it was an interesting surprise.

Anyway. I didn't think the monster costumes looked that bad in the trailer; but then I wasn't looking at them as if they were people in big costumes. I mean, I know they are, but I just don't think about that when I see it. -shrug-

...I was gonna say more, but House is on! I'll finish later! xD
