Writ walked down the border of Middling and Uppers with a certain stride to his step. In one arm, he swung around a plastic bag of newspapers. All the local pages that had one article or another on his fight with Ciro. They were mementos. There was Game changing activity in this bag, and he intended to keep it.

His other hand was tapping his thigh to his own beat. There was just something about having his picture in the paper that got Writ dancing down the street. Being part of the news of the city, standing out- it gave him the feeling that he couldn't describe as anything else but existence. He only existed in rumors and urban legends and grocery store tabloids, but he existed nonetheless. People knew him- or at least talked about him, and through that he felt whole.

This was how legends were made.

Or maybe the whole thing was a massive boost of his ego. Either way, he was in a good mood.

(I think in the continuum that this one might be before the RP with Padma considering this seems to be not too long after Fish ran into Ciro and the one with Keeya and Padma is set a week or so after. *goes to adjust in the journal* 8B)

Keeya was a girl on a mission. It was her free day and the weather was starting to be warm enough she could go without covering her head, and she only threw on enough makupe to make it look like she was on break rather then completely off for the day, hiding her goddess markings in plain sight. There were always people with a mix of costume and plain clothes wandering the area around Broadway. Adjusting the thick and heavy backpack weighing her down, loaded with milk bottles filled with water and packs of fertilizer she had bought from one of the kids she knew who's father on maintaining the few parks in the corridors between Upper and Middling. And, most of all, little sprouts she had prepared the day before.

She was going to have her own personal arbor day and sneak tree's into every local park within a five block radius around Broadway. The stronger Edinkira was, the stronger Keeya herself could be. And the more she could summon Agu.

Thinking back, she smiled a little, remembering the night where she summoned the large spectral leopard on their stage downstairs in the middle of the night, and simply resting on its side for several minutes, stroking that glowing fur and whispering softly into his side before the leopard spoke -- actually SPOKE to her -- and explained that until she was stronger, the leopard could not stay for more then a few minutes a day.

And she felt safer knowing she could command that large, powerful creature when danger came her way. Agu could at least slow them down enough for her to pull back and think of a plan of action. Or escape.

Distracted, she nearly crashed right into the other Player, startling a little, "Ohmygosh, I'm so sorr- Writ!" The leafy haired godling grinned as she recognized that kind man from her first mission, then suddenly terror struck her heart, just barely managing to keep it from hitting her face.

Ah crap.. Writ! Hasn't he gone rogue, killing uninvolved innocents? But... There wasn't any real evidence to it.. Better safe then sorry... Swallowing, Keeya forced her smile even wider, her skin darkening slightly, "Hey, its been.. Over a year."

(Edit: .... *does word count* Omg! 8D Points: 103.08! Keeya's officially crested her 100 point mark with this post!)

((Congrats! biggrin ))

Writ tilted his head at Keeya- trying to remember where he met her before. He always remembered names out of habit- not necessarily the circumstances he learned them in.

It took him a minute, but it clicked. Back at Seasons. He was paired up with Ciro to save Vlad.

Ciro... The name stuck in his thoughts.

He waved away the memory. A lot had changed in a year. Though Writ was half expecting Keeya to grow by now. Maybe her god wasn't as impatient as his.

"Yeah, it has." Writ smiled, "What've you been up to?" He was tempted to grab a paper from his bag and show her what he had done- but he figured he could wait to brag.

Keeya relaxed a little, though she was a touch on edge, "mn, not much. Just recently getting back in the game." She adjusted her heavy backpack, the heavy thing glurping slightly as water sloshed around inside their bottles, "Mostly learning and practicing my powers. I hadn't been able to get ahold of anyone to learn what I was supposed to do, and Edinkira had been silent since before we met, as if she was sleeping, until recently."

Remembering her quiet conversation under the baobab tree with the giant goddess, Keeya relaxed a little. Perhaps if Writ did attack she could have enough time to give him a face full of big cat and run for it. She then frowned, "Ah.. I heard you killed a person not related to the game directly.. But... I had a gut feeling there was more to it then what Ciro said when Fish dragged me to meet him and Vale.." She frowned, adjusting the strap of another one of her bags, wincing a little, "Can we walk and talk? I'm training my powers and all these gardening supplies are heavy."

"Ciro said that to you too? Echo, right?" Writ started to walk, "I'm sorry that she died, but I got nothin' to do with it. Ciro's just mad at me." He didn't sound guilty at all- actually, he was kind of annoyed. Apparently Ciro was better at spreading a rumor than he was. Was being the key word. But he figured he could keep that from Keeya for now. It was probably not in his best interests to tell her that her informant was dead.

Writ changed the subject, "Training, with gardening supplies? Sounds fun, you need any help?"

With Echo's murderer still out there, he could use all the friends he could get.

"Sure -- But I'll keep hold of my bags, the park's not too far away." Keeya smiled a little, shrugging her bags up higher as began walking again, "He said that it was a Large Canine godling that teared her throat out, and that you responded when he confronted you you turned into a Coyote and that you were trying to provoke him." glancing over, she raised an eyebrow, "while he was sure it was you, since he apparently Saw a large canine do it, I remembered you two had a history, and that Coyote is a Mischievous Great spirit. Tricksters tend to pretend to have a clue, which sometimes gets them in trouble." She raised an eyebrow, smirking slightly, "I was planning on doing more research, listen in on the he said she said and keep my ear to the wall before I decide what the truth is."

"My aunt always says, "Making a 'serious' face, her voice changing into a mock-condescending tone as she quoted her caretaker, "'History is written by either the victor or by the word of the one they heard from., and the truth is always hidden away. You have'ta use your brain, girl, and think beyond the books to get to the heart of the matter'."

Shaking her head, she stopped as they reached a nook in the park, flopping her bags down before looting through them, "I'm planting trees -- I can grow them from nothing but, while standing out in the open its better to plant them and pretend they just grow fast on their own." Taking out a large plastic bag small potted bonsai acacia tree, she set it to the side, "I've been hiding out in plain site my whole life.. At least once it started being too painful for my Aunt to prune the leaving branches off my head and we stopped being able to hide the roots as cornrows." Wiping some sweat from her brow, the green and silver paints around her eyes smeared slightly, "If I can go from park to park and 'tend gardens', only growing each tree a little bit each day, I'll get a lot of training in and still manage to keep it hidden from those blackcoats... At least until I start getting good enough I can defend myself better."

The lanky girl squatted, looking at all the supplies and taking out a list, wanting this to look believable, then blushed slightly, "I must be boring you a lot. I'll be growing a few other trees in the area, so I'm mostly using this to cover my trail."

"Believe me, there's a lot more than just me." Writ didn't recall ever showing Keeya what exactly he could do. Had she been talking to Persy? It looked like the two would be able to get along. Plant people and all. Anyway...

"Pretty much sums it up." Writ looked to the sky, "My god does that a lot too-- used to drive me crazy." He took out another potted tree from the bag and handed it to Keeya, "Speaking of hiding..." Writ dropped down and reached into his bag of newspapers. He pulled out a tabloid with Ciro and himself on the front cover, mid-brawl. It's what he's been doing with the godlings he's met recently, partly to get a reaction, partly to warn them that the secretive nature of The Game has gone out the door and into the streets.

"Crazy, huh?"
PostPosted: Tue Apr 14, 2009 11:49 am

"mmn?" Keeya looked over the tabloid picture, blinking into the sun. She cocked her head, then tapped the picture at the man who had been told to get away -- a slight looking, clean shaven man cowering behind a table with hands covering the back of his head, "There's Jonathan Myers, one of the local actors. The two of you scared the crap out of him. Totally ruined his favorite coffee shop as well."

She flashed a grin, raising an eyebrow, "I wouldn't exactly call that hiding. Though... if you turn to page.. Mmn.... No it wouldn't be in that paper, though the sudden appearance of a several story baobab tree sprouting out of nowhere had gotten into the news. THough many think it was a stunt by someone wanting to draw awareness to the plight of Micro-Zimbabwe's park, though most seem to think of it as a Miracle, and now there are fundraises going on to make it bigger and better maintained..." She smiled fondly, digging a hole and taking the offered pot to plant a tree into it, the plant growing rapidly in her hands -- Edinkira had enjoyed watching people holding celebrations under the branches of her trees, having not seen celebrations held in her, or at least her trees, honor in over a hundred years.

Even Keeya had felt the energy of it flow through her, and bless it all, it felt wonderful. She had been able to tell when the trees were watered from across the city, even, each act of care to the trees bringing a new, fresh breath to the dieing goddess.

Streatching back, the girls back popped and she turned her attention back to Writ, the little sprout now about to her waist as she stood, "Mn. My goddess is more... The Cancer victem of the gods. I'm not really here to play the game, persay, I'm in the game just because its the only way to add her touch to me legaly."

"Just giving you a heads up." Writ said, "People know now. Least the crazy ones anyway--" He looked tilted his head and looked at the tabloid, This is the same paper that had Batboy in it, but I got a hunch that the word's getting around."The paper went back into the bag. He whistled as he watched the tree grow up to Keeya's waist.

"I don't think there's any illegal way for gods to give kids powers." Writ looked at the tree, "I was under the impression that they could do this kind of thing whenever they want, now's the season for it. My god told me he just got bored, so he decided to play The Game. I think he's regretting it now, the whole trying-to-kill-me thing is a pretty good indication. "
PostPosted: Wed Apr 15, 2009 2:58 pm

"From what I understand, if they make one now they gotta be in the game. Or something. Thats just the impression I have." Keeya shrugged as she pretended to plant something from an empty pot and let it grow to about waist high, packing in some fertilzer before watering it.

Sitting up, she dusted her hands off, making a face at the wet mud and other biological matter sticking to her hands, shaking it off best she could, "Trying to kill you? Well hell. I wonder why he's doing it -- Edin told me that getting worshippers and people doing things in your honor, like that tabloid, could count and would strengthen them. Perhaps it's because its about you rather then him? Maybe we could find some way to honor your Spirit so he'd see it as a good thing to have you. Cause I mean.. Damn."

"If that's the case, He should jump down here, rob a bank and make the front page, I nearly got killed for this attention." Writ growled a little, " And if that's what's going on, he could have just told me, but no- he decides to starve me to death and have me take on a bear. Naked. In the desert." He huffed, it wasn't a particularly glamorous chapter of his life.

"Explains a lot though, this feeling. I feel... Kinda good. I mean, the burns still hurt, I don't have any home to go to, and I just found out that I can't get my revenge on Ciro, but it doesn't seem to bother me as much." He rubbed his chin in thought, then blurted out, "Wonder if that's how Coyote feels whenever he's getting laid."
PostPosted: Wed Apr 15, 2009 5:07 pm

Keeya blinked, confused by the phrasing - what exactly was Coyote laying? Likely was some sort of Innuendo. Or maybe it ment sleep, but she doubted that, "Mn, It's quite possi...ble.... Hmn."

Keeya's eyes widened, "What if it wasn't one of the godlings that killed Echo, but Coyote, your own god, framing you? Or perhaps tricking another god into doing it for him..." Wiping her hands off on the grass she started to dig into her bag, "Have you had your burns treated any? I think I have some anti-bacterial cream in here... Somewhere."

It was then that Writ realized who he was talking to, "Don't worry about it, you'll find out when you're older." It's been a while since he talked to a kid- it seemed all the people he talked to were growth spurt victims, newbies were a rare breed, probably touched by particularly slow gods.

"Maybe, but even if he did trick someone into doing it, it isn't his style. There's kids out there with wings and gills and well, branches for hair, he's a lot more subtle than that." He tugged at one ear to make a point, "Besides, the only people he'd get a reaction from are the gods watching the game, and from what I'm seeing, they can't do anything to me. Having Ciro attack me would've been lucky at best." He took out his pipe and a zip-loc bag of herbs. Writ took a pinch of the green stuff and sprinkled it into his pipe. With a blink of his eyes, the pipe lit itself. Writ took a long sip of smoke before going on.

"Fish thinks it was Vlad. Or Blacksuits. Or both." He sighed, remembering, "Poor kid, he's a mess right now."

To the ointment offer, Writ looked underneath his poncho, "Nope, Hospitals ask questions. Blacksuits probably watch them too."
PostPosted: Thu Apr 16, 2009 10:25 pm

" mn... Perhaps its both. Perhaps the Blacksuits somehow got control of Vlad and used him to attack someone they felt was a player, and this Echo girl got the bad end of mistaken identy. Or perhaps they were hoping for a war."

Finally finding some gauze and the antibacterial cream, Keeya offered them out to the older player, her nose wrinkling at the pipe smoke as a puff strayed her way, "Who's a mess? Fish? Or that Vlad person? Is it Fish?" Worry crossed her face, haunting veridot eyes, "What happened?"

"Fish." Writ said, the smoke coming out of his mouth, and he took the tube of cream and pocketed it, "Thanks. Yeah, Fish is kinda mopey right now."

"Well, if they want to start something, I'm all for it. Feel like causing some mischief." Writ smirked, "Still got that old suit stashed away somewhere."
