Well... there are alot of forms of music, that use the name "Punk" to describe their music. Which do you guys favor? Me, I personally favor a more classic style... like that of Pennywise, Bad Religion, Lagwagon, etc. Nowadays, I hear alot of music that I would classify more with EMO versus being punk. But then again, it all depends on your description of what "Punk" is. But for the sake of conversation, what stlye of Punk do you prefer?

That also depends on what definition you have of emo. I must say that I don't favor all of the supposed neo-emo music like the used, taking back sunday, etc, etc. But good old emo.... well I donno.
As for punk... I'd say a little bit of both, I'm not very picky with the type of music I listen to as long as it moves me... physically or psychologically.
I have a suggestion (or two), for the mods, I guess:
A suggestion thread A list of bands considered to be punk as decided by the mods. With other bands added with decent argumentation as to why a band is punk or not.

But as for a list of bands considered to be punk, that may be different for everyone. I thought about doing something like that, but everyone's definition isn't the same. Good idea though,

I think that if there was alist it could open up a lot of debate and finally come up to a definition as to what we define punk as. But whatver, it doesn't really matter, it's just an idea, and something that I saw in a different guild.
And thanks for considering a suggestion thread.

old school>>>>>>>what they're passing off as punk now
There are a lot of types of punk and I listen to pretty much every type except for skinhead, which I hate with the passion of 3,000 suns. I even listen to the newer stuff like I Farm and the occasional Le Tigre, but not any corporate stuff like Green Day or MCR or blink-182, which I do not even consider real punk, as it does not have any of the ethic or basic punk sound. I'm not fond of emo, and although the emo of yesteryear was better than the emo of today, I still do not like it. I'm not fond of the fact that emo is getting passed of as punk either.

Emo music I enjoy very much. My favorite rock band At The Drive-In broke up into two seperate groups in the year 2001. One group being The Mars Volta, which is a psyche-rock band, and Sparta, which is an emo band. I must say, I much prefer Sparta to the Mars Volta.
Emo is awsome, you guys just think that the little kids who cut themselves and consider it emo are what emo is actually about, when in fact Emo is a great musical genre.
When they were whole, they considered themselves punk, so my post sort of ties into the the thread. >_>

I like "Old-school" punk better than "New-school" mainly because "Old-school" bands are very influential and have pioneered many punk movements. So far...My favorite punk genre is Death-rock. I enjoy its most influential bands like Christian Death and am still looking into it.I do love variety, but other than that I just know what I considered "bits and pieces" which are mainly band names and song names.
I understand the general definition of Emo,but I need help will its musicology.Any recommendations of bands and albums like of Rites of Spring would be nice.Thanks.
