I need to find some kind of organizational scheme for the original myths I've been working on. Have any of you read a book covering a whole culture's mythology that had a particularly nice structure? Or maybe just a cool weird book that I might be inspired by looking at? For example my original inspiration came from looking at the Voynich manuscript. Also I've been inspired by reading the original myths of Lord Dunsany, the myth analysis of Levi-Strauss, an encyclopedia of creation myths, a collection of trickster tales, several children's books, etc.
My original myth system has animal totems/gods. I've got the beginning and end of the world myths pretty much figured out, but I need more ideas for what goes in the middle, especially tales illustrating the personalities of the different animals.

SILMARILLION biggrin I'm like, 1/3 of the way into it, but it pretty much follows chronologically so far as I've read it. Chronological has always been the way I organize, from the Creation, to the Enumeration/Elucidation, to the Destruction, in such an order.

...other humans exist...? *twitch*
Silliness aside, I'd say go for chronological order, even though the only book of myths I have is an encyclopedia of The Fair Folk. It'd make it easier to process for the reader, since they're unfamiliar with your world and its myths, after all.
