My father is going to let me borrow some money, so i can get another car. My budget is probably going to be around 2k, and was hoping i could get the car by the end of next month.
Ive looked around on craigslist, and havent fallen in love with anything but its all decent.
Craigslist adds ive found that are local/semi-local:

I am looking to get a clean title car, i would like to get a coupe, but fastback design is fine.(i kinda hate the flip up lights.) i dont care if its an automatic since i havent driven stick in a couple years, and i dont plan on doing any mods for a long long time. also itll be my daily.
tips for what to look for when im shopping? pre-cautions, etc? thoughts on the car ads ive found?
(first car i buy asides from my suv off my dad.)

I prefer the coupe version too, but the hatchback is slowly growing on me. But if I were you I would probably go with one of the first two you posted.

The first two are automatics. I know you said you don't care... but if you plan on keeping the car for any amount of time, do you really want to have it be an auto?

I'm not a fan of the SOHC KA...and cause they are in the older 240s they have alot of miles make noise sometimes cause of the hydraulic valve lash adjusters. they get junk in them and then don't adjust. and when want to change to a DOHC motor need to change the tach pice in the cluster to have it work.
like the DOHC KA in the S13...and I like coupes
for S14's a 95 base model might be all you can afford...and I would look for one that's a manual already it's still like 500 bucks to swap to manual with most used parts. only thing with a zenki is the dumb yellowing headlights' but you can clear that up with some time and tools.

Auto's are usually better taken care of and less abused than standards. So your plan on doing swap later if wanted is a sound one.

yeah i was going for that too. automatics are usually pretty decently maintained.
a little bit of suspension work doesnt hurt either. sweatdrop

What are you looking for in a 240SX anyway? If you want to be stylish and hip with the import dorifto crowd, I guess it works. But if you want something fun to drive, and really good at handling, you're wasting your time. M-I-A-T-A.

*Blinks.* I can understand drift (even though I hate it), since the aftermarket and information base is huge for the car. But drag race?

Then what are you doing?! *Ripping out own hair.* You know about cars! Save the skrilla yo! A 240SX is a horrible investment unless you're looking to restore it and keep it on jackstands as a collector car for some foolish sap to buy later on down the road. The scene is dying down due to a horrible economy and everyone growing up, the aftermarket is shrinking due to 240SXs no longer being made, and every one that has a part installed means that's one less potential customer for the manufacturer. Or in the best possible scenario, every one that's crashed and wrecked.
Autocross: Look like a retard who's more into fashion than real driving, and get smoked by junky Pontiacs and Miatas... and maybe even a loser journalist in a Saturn.
Cheap Dorifto: This is the only option that makes sense... but with all the stress and parts breaking just to look "cool," is it really possible to call it "cheap?" So maybe it doesn't make sense.
Circuit/Rally Racing: Yeah... right. Sorry, but real life isn't Gran Turismo. Much better cars out there for this if you have the money to afford to do it.
Daily Driver: Not practical, not comfortable, not reliable, parts not readily availabe, just about every chassis and engine/transmission is on its last legs.
Drag Racer: 4-banger drag racing died a long time ago when people discovered that it took too much work and money to make it go as fast as a "five-point-slow Mustang" (funny they call them that, when they get raped by them) with less than half as much work and money put into it.
Fashion: OK, now this is really the only option that make sense, because it's "cool" to get one. Just like it was "cool" to get Civic hatchbacks and CRXs 10 or so years ago.
(Disclaimer: This isn't import hate. I suggested a freakin' Miata!)
