When I want to sell something expensive I go to Flak and Shrapnel's in Rivet City and essentially trade three mini nukes for whatever it is that's expensive that I want to sell. The nukes are like 250 each or something and they usually get three more in every few days. Or you can go to Moira. The house items are pretty expensive and give her a lot of caps. Even though it is your caps that build up the vendors purses, as long as you're trading something expensive back that you wouldn't use anyway you're pretty much getting stuff for free.

Here and Now perk saves time, but wastes a perk.

Yea, I usually try to barter with items instead of relying on pure caps. I always try to gain caps this way too. Helps improve the feeling that you're in a harsh wasteland, trading and bartering to survive.

Pro-Tip - If you go into any area that is swarming with Super Mutants, or with Talon Company Mercs, like the D.C. Mall, then bring a mini gun and a rocket launcher, or other heavy weaponry type weapon. Also, if your in the mall, make friends with the Ghouls, they can help, A LOT. Also if your evil, it's the only place you'll ever see Moira Brown again. (That being, you finished the Atomic Bomb Detonation for Birke, then you headed back to the ruins of Megaton, waited for Moira and told her to go to Underworld.) Finally, if you have played the game before, or you are reading a walkthrough, just go straight to the car repair station that you find Vault 112 in, you can do everything with skipping the questioning at Rivet City, or Megaton.
