The rocky approach to the Holy Citadel located at the summit of the mountain is a winding path that reaches from this broad plateau. There is an ominous mist overtaking the snowy landscape. The atmosphere is heavy and tense. Senses are rendered useless in the fog, forcing the wandering to be guided by faith alone. A powerful gust of wind can knock you off the Path. Darkness beckons against your every gesture. “Should I have taken that last turn?” you ask yourself. “Is this the Way?” You find it odd that the light of the moon seems to have trouble breaking through.

The only thing known for certain is the presence of something. You can’t place your finger on it, but something’s there, lying in wait, lurking beneath the shadows. A darkness like none other. You raise your weapon in preparation for the worst, but soon lower it, figuring that it’s your mind playing tricks on you, or at least… you hope that’s all it was.

Gabrielle's flight was a long one. She had never used the wind wing technique before and it was straining her a little. Jin, who was a Leader, was much more at ease. The fogs of the morning had surrounded them and she had found herself flying alone, not able to see nor hear Jin.

The Holy Knight flew some more until she heard the soft sound of waterfalls. With a weak smile she had let the winds gently drop her on the ground. The landing was a little more chaotic than expected due to the strong mist around her, she noticed the floor a little too late.
The woman looked around, for a moment, trying to figure out where she was. She walked towards the sound of water, grabbing her sword for safety. She walked slowly as her legs were sore from the flight.

She expectingly reached the falls. The water seemed glowing, almost bright. But the mist from the fall was contributing to the overall foggy atmosphere surrounding the woman. She was located at the bottom of the fall and from where she was, she could not see the top.

Gabrielle was feeling strangely tensed, she listened carefully to any noise, but outside of the waterfall nothing came to ear. Which was partly what was annoying her. No bird, no animal, no life...but the falls. She took a deep breath and sat. She was worn out. The tournament had taken its toll on her, the fight against Pride too. Her body felt tired. "I am getting old..." she smirked.

Her left arm seemed burning. Grim had healed it, but the memory of the wounded flesh, bones and muscles was still intact. The woman removed her boots, pants and shirts and after an hesitation her weapons before jumping in the water half naked. The cold woke her senses up and calmed down the pain in her arm. In a reflex her hand reached the base of her neck where she had been bitten. The skin felt strange and she could not feel anything around the wound. "What am I going to become...?" she wondered in a murmur.

"An even more beautiful woman since the last time I set eyes on her?"

A voice answered from the other side of the falls. From behind the falls, the rigid form of Dimitri Solidari exited from the mist.

As he caught her attention, he offered one of his signature disarming smiles, then approached her before clasping her into a great hugging embrace.

Pushing back for a moment, he looked at her and chuckled.

"I see you're well. How have you been?"

Ryu slowly landed in the beautiful river that led into a grand waterfall. Bone-like black bat wings were absolved into her back, and she quickly returned to looking like a normal human being. Her trusted staff in her right hand, her raven hair blowing freely in the winds. Her red eyes piercing into the crashing water and greenery around her as she stepped forward and lowered the hood of her gray cloak to her shoulders. The keen eyesight picked up a couple not too far away, whom she recognized of having seen in the Holy Knight's city. Ryu slowly strolled towards them, but reliazed they were more than just hugging. They were most likely a couple of some sort. Ryu smiled kindly and sat down on the nearest rock protruding above the water within the river. She let her legs feel the cool clean healing power of the pure water and closed her eyes, enjoying the brisk air and the spray of the water.

"Lovely..."
she whispered, her eyes still closed as she raised her head to the sky.

Gabrielle was out of the water, putting her close on again when a voice seemed to come out of nowhere. She knew that voice. She watched Dimitri reach her without moving. He looked as tired as she. They both had fought weary battles. When he hugged her, she gasped but abandoned herself to the embrace, wrapping her arms around him. "Dimitri..." she whispered.

As he stepped aside and looked at her, she smiled wearily. "I am fine." She wanted to shout 'I missed you' but stayed quiet. "And you?" She had tons of questions, but nothing came out of her lips.

She wanted that second to last forever but fate had decided otherwise. She felt another presence. "We are not alone." she said softly. Frowning a little, she finished grabbing her staff and securing her buckles in her back and at her belt. Her katanas were ready and so was she. She looked around trying to locate the presence but she could not see far because of the mist.

However her eyes located a woman not too far from them. Gabrielle stopped a moment and relaxed a bit. The woman sitting with her feet in the water was from their side, wasn't she? Yet, the strange sensation of being observed seemed to stay within her and it was not coming from the beautiful black hair creature.

It was a long walk, a journey neither Nexus nor DJ will soon forget. It was probably one of the dumbest ideas they’ve ever had. Never again should they even think of doin’ that again. They stood against a horde of dark creatures and barely lived to tell the tale.

Thankfully, they made it out. They did live, and now, they journey back towards the place they call home.

“I can’t believe I let you talk me into that mess,” DJ starts.

“I can’t either! What the crud was the matter with you?” Nexus replies.

“Don’t start with me, poser. I’m still not over you kickin’ me in the balls.”

“Ah, that was fun.”

“Shut it.”

Even still, having faced darkness and narrowly escaping its clutches, they carry on in the same air as they had left. That’s the thing about these two. No matter what trials face them, they can always make light of the situation. It’s a gift not many people have.

They travel the narrowing path until they find themselves in the midst of a sea of white fog. They’re lost. They think they’re not, but they are. The thick blanket obscures their vision, forces them off their way. It takes a while, but they finally come to the shocking conclusion.

“Where are we?” DJ questions, half hoping for a decent answer from his comrade, but he knows that’s a foolhardy request.

“How the mess should I know? You’re the leader.”

“Since when?”

“Since now.”

“Well this leader is lost.”

“Then, so is this follower.”

“That’s not good.”

“No, it’s not.”

And so they wander. With no sense of direction, they meander the hills, hoping to close in on the holy gates, but ultimately end up moving further from it. With each passing second, their vision blurs more and more. Looking left, looking right, they can only see white. Their only comforter is the howling wind of the north. Why’s the Holy City on a bloody mountain to begin with? Whoever came up with that idea should be slain.

It’s cold. Nothing’s there to warm them. If this keeps up, they’ll be frozen in no time. Winter’s deadly kiss will give way a drop in body temperatures, which will lead to an everlasting sleep. The thought haunts the boys. It can’t end like this can it? From the looks of it, it will.

“Ey dawg, is it just me, or do you feel like you’re bein’ watched, too?” Nexus inquires.

“No. The only thing I feel is cold. For all we know, the city’s a thousand miles away, and we’re goin’ in the opposite direction. And I—”

“Dude, I’m serious. Just stop and pay attention. Somethin’s not right.”

With a frustrated groan, the tall one pauses. Nexus did have a sort of sixth sense about things. DJ’s got it too, but more often then not, he gives it no bother. Life should be based on more than gut feelings. There needs to be an explanation to any and all things. But that’s not always the case. Like now for instance. There is an eerie wave of something. He can’t explain it, but there is. Something is watching them. How anything can see through this fog is beyond him, but something’s out there.

“Yeah, I feel it, too.” DJ answers. He clutches the hilt of his large blade. Either fear or preparation urges him to do so. Nexus does the same with his weapon. Maybe their last encounter with the demons wasn’t so final.

A rustling behind the mist—their unexplainable sense now verified. Something is out there. Lord knows what it is, but it is. Should they try to run? It’s not like they’re prepared for any confrontation with any dark spirits, but then again, there’s absolutely no way to escape. And where are they to run. They’re lost. They stand their ground, in anticipation for the worst.

The newly transformed Reya approached the Holy Knight's city. Her six ominous black wings blocking out the sunlight for those below her. Her keen senses picked up on a strangely concentrated group of warriors around the area. How strange it should be that Holy Knights were outside of their precious city. She would let them be warning for those ahead of her. She would kill them and throw their bodies into the cities. Jin would come. She was sure of it. He would come, and then he would die by her hand.

The fallen Seraphim landed gracefully on the Trampled Emerald Fields, peering around the distance. Now, to find the pesky Paladins and slaughter them.

Ryu opened her eyes and looked back towards Gabrielle, feeling the women's eyes boring holes into her back. She was being watched. They could feel her demonic energies, no matter how she suppressed them, she was always being mistrusted because there was something different about her. It was understandable. Ryu didn't hold it against those people. It just was...difficult.

She stood with grace, brushed her hand away, the water followed her hand and dropped back into the water, leaving her skin dry once more. Ryu smiled and slowly approached the couple, staff in her right hand once more.

"I apologize for interrupting, but you must feel that as well. " Ryu insisted, she knew if they felt her, they could feel the others coming as well.

As the woman reached closer, Gabrielle felt somehow embarrassed. She was not the kind to show her feelings and she was sure that the coming Holy Knight had seen them. Making an unconscious step away from Dimitri, she nodded at Ruy. "Yes." was all she said for a moment.

Gabrielle took a deeper look at Ruy and introduced herself. "I am Gabrielle Camille." she announced simply. She was not used to her new first rank status and preferred to keep it unknown. She wondered if Dimitri had been successful in the tournament too. He felt stronger. They had so much to catch up, but that was nor the time, nor the place.

The woman detached her eyes from the Holy Knight and looked through the mist. She could not see anything. She wondered if she should use some energy to dissipate the mist, even if only momentarily. But decided against, it would be a waste. Plus the mist was hiding their opponents, but also themselves from their opponents.

They’re surrounded, or at least they think they are. The absence of sight adds no sense assurance. What awaits them beyond this thick white shield, monsters, demons, maybe other weary travelers trying to find their way back? Should they question it, or strike? What about flee? There’s no where to run. They’re surrounded, or at least they think they are.

“What do we do?” DJ asks.

“I don’t know, you’re the leader.” Nexus replies.

“Since when--oh, yeah.”

“I say we fight.”

“Fight what?”

“Them.”

“We don’t know who are.”

They could go on like this forever. Senseless babble, a conversation with no direction. Over time, they’ll probably forget where it started, too. You could call it ADD, but we all know that ain’t true. Some people call it randomness, entropy, but me, I call it kids just bein’ kids. That don’t need no fancy name, no sorta disorder, it’s just kids bein’ kids.

Their back and forth is interrupted by a third party. The third party. A voice, that beckons the winds. Suddenly the boys remember how cold they really are. “Why are you here?” the voice asks. Is this who they were afraid of? Who is it? “Go home,” he says.

And suddenly, the fog disperses. What do they see? Who was waiting behind the robe? No one? Absolutely nothing. All of that worrying for nothing, but that’s not the half of it. They weren’t so far from their destination to begin with. In fact, they’re standing right in front of it. The gates of the Holy City were never so brilliant. It’s good to be home. Their journey is over, for now at least, but elsewhere, the a journey is just beginning.

--------------------------

The grandeur of nature’s greatest flow of power. A river overflowing over the mountain top, rushing like a mighty wind. It creates a gentle aura. For a brief moment, there is an air of peacefulness. All is at ease.

That’s a lie.

All is not well. The fallacy of serenity will be the death of all those digressing to its alluring aroma. This is a battlefield. Blood will be spilt, bodies will be maimed, the Heavens will cry and the lands under the earth will rejoice.

They lie in wait. They were always there. The time is at hand. No longer will they sit in the background. Humanity has progressed long enough. It is now time for their darker brother to rise up and surpass them.

And now they rise. They rise from every shadow cast, from every dark crevice in and of the earth. They are the legion of the nine circles. They come for vengeance; they come for lust; they come for power. The faceless ones. Dark spirits, tortured souls. They manifested in the likeness of man and beast, composed of brimstone and necroplasm. These black creatures. They are large, they are small, they are proud and boastful, devious and cunning.

The party of warriors are surrounded by the lost beasts of the abyss. Hundreds upon hundreds, thousands upon thousands.

The creatures wait no further. An order is given, and the demons attack.

It was amazing how the environment could change when traveling. From Shadows and dust, to light and waterfalls, valleys to lush forest. Norix despised this change of scenery, but a job is a job and he would do his part for Lord Tokushi, even if his hate would kill him from the inside. He had no idea what to anticipate in this area, in fact he didn't really have much of a clue nowadays, but Norix hoped that the large pendulum dangling from his extra pair of black hands on his back would serve as a sign for what to expect when someone were to come against him. Clueless, but it didn't mean that he didn't want to fight, ever since he was introduced to Tokushi things have been incredibly boring. All he's done so far is watched guard, got beaten up by him, an then met Jin, with nothing but walking in between. It has been incredibly dull and Norix began to sense his urges rising immensely.

Fog seemed to spread across the battlefield and despite their efforts, nor Holy Knights, nor Dark Knights, nor any creature could dissipate the mist which surrounded them. Soon they could not see past their toes and they could not either hear each other.

A voice spoke to all of them at once and yet to each one of them individually. The Holy Knights heard Neo, the Dark ones heard Tokushi, the Striders heard Neciel. "Cease the Fight."
PostPosted: Thu Sep 03, 2009 9:13 am

Gabrielle tried in vain to dissipate the fog. She had been next to Dimitri a second earlier and now...she was alone. Something was wrong. Was that a trap from the Dark Knights? She had Eosy at the ready. Calling her companion was useless and she stayed quiet, listening to clue of an attack. But through the mist everything was silent.

Then she heard it or rather she felt it, deep inside her mind. Neo's voice. She looked around, only fog, no one and yet, she could hear him. We have to stop the fight?! Could that voice also be a trick? But she knew that it was her Leader who was speaking to her.

She did not wait any longer and wrapping herself in the fog and the wind, she propelled herself vertically and left towards the Holy Grounds.
