Aang fell during the battle with Fire lord Ozai.

Flames tore across the surface of the Earth Kingdom, driving it's people underground away from the heat and hatred. Empress Toph Befong adopted a daughter after the loss of her love, and the powerful woman lived well into her hundreds, dying in the arms of her elderly daughter and two grandsons.

The Water Tribes, in an effort to preserve themselves, joined together to form the Nival Dynasty. Sovereign Hakodda took the reigns from chief Arnook, who lacked both heir and will to continue his life and his role as leader. After Hakodda, Sokka the Great created a fin navy and a floating paradise for his people, despite the ugliness of the world outside. His line continued to breed intelligent rulers and powerful benders...along with horible jokes and an iron stomach.

The Phoenix Empire is at the cutting edge of technology, ruling the land with an iron fist. Emperor Ozai was murdered eventually by his advisors and his daughter placed under house arrest after she began eating the servants to maintain her beauty. Despit this, the government took a decidedly militaristic turn, declaring martial law on all citizens and slaves.

Princess Katara died in the arms of Prince Zuko after fighting Princess Azula. Their wounds were too great.

The centuries pass, And each nation has changed, be it for better or worse none can truly agree. But someone has begun to murder the royal families of each nation. From Madame Kya of the Nival Dynasty to Divine Consort Ursa to Emperor Gaoling. Minor and major, the leaders are worried for their families and blaming each other, causing scuffles to break out and bringing the possibility of war to come about all over again.

Five hundred years have passed, the people of the Earth Kingdom have lost their title of Earth benders, instead gaining the name Geomancer based on their enhanced knowladge of the earth in which they've ade their home.

They've become scholars and builders, miners and healers. Over time they've begun selling their raw and forged materials to people all over the world. The forging and metalwork is the best in the world.

Physically they've changed as well, in the dark of night and below the green surface of the land, their eyesight is unsurpassed. But under the light of the sun, they must cover themselves from head to foot and wear darkly tinted glasses.

The Nival Dynasty has long been the rulers of the sea. Their great prowess in battle rivaled only by their healing abilities.

Living in great groupings of warships, like a school of fish, their floating cities support them in nearly every way. They are begining to threaten the Pheonix Empire and it's role as the most powerful nation.

And they too have changed, most swimming before they can even walk. Their lungs have grown in size, allowing them to dive deeper and longer. Though most cannot stay on land for too long, as their hearts call out for the ocean, the few that do go on land have horrible balance for days to months to years.

Fire covers the land, and within the flames, only the strongest survive.

Living on the cutting edge of technology, the Phoenix Empire is always finding new ways to go about things. War hawks have been replaced by Cell phones, motors running everything from charriots to trains.

As can be expected, they are evolved in their own way, great endurance and strength borne from the firey torment that runs throughout the land with a mind all it's own. Able to withstand amazing heat, though the cold and darkness are their greatest weaknesses, causing them to enter a state of lethargy.
