Hey gang,
Reciently I've been getting very interested in watches. But not just any watches...Mechanical waches.
So I've started a little collection, got two watches so far. One automatic and one wind up. Both interestingly enough are very influenced by cars. One being A Rotary GTO, and the other a Peugeot Jump hour. Both of 70s vintage.
Anyways looking on the net its very easy to see some very interesting watches that have been branded by cars and stuff.

So here's my top three so far.
(these are watches I find interesting enough to buy/have in my collection.)

Number Three

Porche Design Heritage P'6510
Classic 70s design, titanium bracelet and what what.

Number two

Meccaniche Veloci's Quattro Valvole...shares a name with the Ferrari GTB aparently. Anyway its titanium, expensive and can tell the time in 4 different time zones.

Number one

Contagiri Alfa Romeo watch.
Limited edition, limited to 1050 pieces and you can have it customized to have it match the chassis number of your Alfa Romeo. Its an automatic and its a beauty.

That Alfa Romeo watch is the shizz! I want one, and I've never owned an Alfa, nor will I ever own one.

Alfa Romeo is currently the only car manufacturer that doesn't have a bad looking car. They all look magnificent.

well they are collectors watches.
most people who buy mechanical watches do so cus they want to collect something of value as its highly unlikely that the movment in a non mechanical quarts watch costs more than $30.

I've already started a collection. before I used to use my phone. but it was always a bother to get out to check the time. its so much easier to check a watch. the time is always just there.

Lol, I still am not sure how you tell time on that watch properly.

yup, but imo a lot of the ones being made now are quarts and therefore not really worth it.
Since I'm still a collector on a budget I mostly look at 60s and 70s watches. An era where fashion and themed watches where mechanical and not battery operated.

You tell time by looking at the red dot, which is the minute hand. The rev-indicator styled hand shows your hours. It obviously doesn't work like a conventional watch in that it doesn't complete a 360 degree rotation. In fact, it's nothing like a conventional watch at all. But, it's really cool.

What do you guys rock on your wrists? Here's my watch.

It's a Casio G-SHOCK GO11 series. Stainless steel, shock resistant like all G-SHOCKs. Honestly, I never take it off. I sleep, shower, swim, whatever, while wearing it. You can hit it against solid concrete as hard as you want, and nothing happens. Excellent watch; and only $150.

I don't have any kind of accessory that I always wear, no rings or watches or anything. I have to wear glasses, so I wear those when I'm not using my contacts.

Those are some nice watches, and that Alfa is wonderful. Its nice that the G shock can do that, but I wouldn't ever think of trying myself if I had one. lol

Wow thats really nice for a G-shock. Like really nice. Looks nice and solid.
Just took these pics today. Both are from the 60s/70s. They were picked up and rebuilt/restored to thier present condition, and then I bought them. smile
The first one is my Rotary GTO. My first mechanical watch. Its a Automatic, meaning that all I have to do is wear it, and the pendium in the back of the case swings back and forth with the movement of my wrist and winds up the watch. Its got its origional rubber strap too!

The next one is my Peugeot Jump Hour. (Or Mechanical Digital.) And currently it has a leather strap. Its a wind up watch, meaning I have to wind it up every day.
