Plot
The year is 1209 in the world of Yamuna. This world is an Asian fantasy world. All of the creatures come from various Asain Myths or culture. Technology is comparable to that of Ancient China, although with some twists. People have figured out how to use a system of gears to create automated machines. These can be used to grind grain, or to create devastating war machines that move on their own. Gunpowder exists and is used for bombs, rockets, and Hwachas (a cart that holds 100-200 arrows each with a small rocket on it. they fire the arrows all at once at the enemy and they have a small explosion on impact). There are also pump-action flamethrowers.
Kingdoms
Kingdom of Xuchang: This is a very imperialist Kingdom. Their leader is a dying Emperor but most of the actual governing is done by his Warlords. The Emperor's only son is 11 years old and too young to lead, and so no clear successor has been defined yet. Although this Kingdom is dominated by Humans Nekos are occasionally seen doing trade in some of their cities.
Wu Province: 50 years ago the Kingdom of Xuchang invaded and easily conquered the Kingdom of Wu. Now Wu is a province of the Xuchang Empire and the people are very unhappy about this. There are still rebels who hide in the mountains and forests, attacking Xuchang soldiers whenever they get a chance. This kingdom used to accept all goodly Races, but since it was conquered the new government isn't so friendly to outside Races.
Nippon:
Nippon has been invaded by Xuchang 3 times in the last 30 years and each time Nippon has pushed them back. Nippon is an island kingdom of people who are great sailors and fierce warriors but they are overall an honorable people who accept all goodly Races into their lands.
Nan Zhong:
Nan Zhong is a jungle Kingdom to the south. The people here are referred to as "barbarians" by the Xuchang because of their primitive houses, weapons, and clothes. These "barbarians" don't like the Kingdom of Xuchang cause of the times they have attempted to conquer their lands. They also don't like other Races either, so humans almost exclusively live here.
Nekomimi Forest:
This forest is a Kingdom dominated by the peaceful Nekos. The only reason the Kingdom of Xuchang has not attacked here is because the Nekos pay them handsomely for a peaceful relationship every year. The Nekos have several different tribes, each with a different view on the outside world but they all get along for the most part. Some of the Nekos do trade with the outside world, mostly trading their beautiful fabrics and exotic spices for simple things that catch their fancy.
Races
Humans: Humans are what you are (most likely stare ). Humans can learn any type of magic.
Kappas: Scaly lizard like creatures. They stand upright and are as tall as a child. They have a thick turtle shell on their backs, and snapping turtle like beaks for their mouth. Their heads have a concavity in the top of them, like a bowl, that holds water. This water in their heads make Kappas very strong. The easiest way to get rid of the water is to simply bow to the Kappa and the Kappa will return the bow because they have a strong sense of honor. Also, if you can trick a Kappa into promising you something then they will have to keep that promise. Finally Kappas are very skilled in medicine and their favorite food are cucumbers. Kappas can only learn Water Magic.
Kitsunes: 9 Tailed Foxes. They can be mischievous creatures. They are very smart and wise and have a natural magical ability to appear as humans whenever they want. They also have a natural ability to make balls of light that entrance weak minded humans and can lead them away. Kitsunes can only learn Fire Magic.
Oni: Oni are hideous, gigantic, creatures with sharp claws, wild hair, and two long horns growing from their heads. They feed off of negative emotions and their demonic chi permeates any environment they inhabit . Their skin is usually red or blue. They are very strong and carry iron clubs as their favorite weapons. Their clothes are usually just simply a loincloth. Their skin is very thick like leather and it takes many blows to bring them down. Due to infighting pure Oni are going extinct. The Spiritual leaders of Oni tribes are the Shamans. Oni Shamans Talk to Dark primal Spirits that other shamans dare not speak with.
Oni can only learn Shamanistic Magic.
Part Oni: Oni raids often lead to part Oni children. Pure Oni are rare and as such most clans are mostly made up of these children. Part Oni are weaker then their Full blood relatives but have more control. Oni accept anyone of more then 1/16 Oni blood as clan. Every part Oni has at least one Oni feature. Third eyes, horns, or wild skin and hair colors are common among them. Most Part Oni can hide these features to blend with humans
Only those with more then 1/4 Oni blood can become Chiefs or Shamans. Just like Oni Part Oni can only learn Shamanistic magic.
Dragons: Benevolent creatures. They can speak with humans, and they are usually not bad creatures. They have the natural ability to fly. Dragons can learn Fire, Wind, or Water Magic.
Dragon Blood: Dragons have been known to have half dragon children. While dragons rarely actually raise or acknowledge their children they do pass on many gifts. Those blessed with dragon blood are far stronger then a normal human and often have dragon features such as Wings, Dragon whiskers instead of hair, or even Scared Antlers. Humans often revere Half Dragons, and will often look to them for leadership roles.
Like a dragon Half dragons can only use Fire, wind, and water magic.
Tengu: Bird like creatures that can stand upright like a human. They live in forests and mountains and usually attack people for no apparent reason. Tengu can only learn Wind Magic.
Shishi: Lion creatures. They are very protective of whatever they are guarding (children, treasure, castle) and are always found in pairs. They prefer living in the desert. Shishi can only learn Earth Magic.
Nekos: Nekos are cat people that are comfortable living anywhere. Some tribes of Nekos look human except for the fact that they have cat like ears, a tail, and claws while others look like cats that stand upright. Nekos are quite playful and happy most of the time and they like to say "nya" at the end of their sentences ("Nya" means "Meow" in Japanese). Nekos can learn Earth or Water Magic.
Ghosts: There are two different types of ghosts. Some walk around seemingly aimlessly in places that were important to them and speak in riddles but overall they do not pay much attention to people. The other kind are called "Yurei." They are people who when they died made a vow to fulfill some task and cannot leave till that task is fulfilled. Some vow to kill a certain individual or to watch over a loved one, while others vow to protect all of mankind, in which case they are stuck on this world forever. Yurei cannot learn magic, but instead they have certain special abilities. They can turn invisible. They can turn immaterial which allows them to walk through walls, or for objects to go through them. They can create balls of light, similar to those of Kitsunes, that can entrance the weak minded and lead them away. Yurei cannot die but if they receive a blow that would kill a mortal while they are in their material form, then they are immediately sent back to wherever their dead body is.
Tsuchigumo: The Tsuchigumo were long thought to only be a myth because of their elusiveness, however they are quite real. They are a race of giant spiders and tend to live deep in the mountains and forests far from society. Typically they live in small clans, lead by a queen. They do not like outsiders and typically capture and then slowly drain them of all juices like a spider would to an insect. The Tsuchigumo's true talent is that they are masters of illusion, able to create very powerful and complex illusions which they use to capture people. They can also create enormous spider webs they can hold a person, but usually the person is not aware they are captured as they are kept in an illusion till they die, because if they became aware they might be able to break free. Also they have the ability to turn into a Human if they desire and hide in normal society. They can also learn both Wind and Earth magic.
Magic
There are only 5 types of Magic in this world, and you can only learn 1 type of Magic.
Fire: Those that know Fire Magic are able to make fire appear out of nowhere, but it can only be created near their body. This fire they can manipulate to do whatever they desire, they can even change it's color to their liking. They are also unaffected by their own fire but can be burned by others.
Water: Those that know Water Magic can manipulate Water. They are able to take water from nearby lakes, rivers, or wells, or even out of the air and they can bend it to their will. They can also turn the water into ice if they choose.
Earth: Earth Magic users can control dirt and rock and have it do whatever they wish.
Wind: Wind Magic users can create and control wind. They can use this to allow them to fly, or blow wind into the sail of a ship. They can levitate and throw objects that are not too heavy and they can even control the weather by blowing in storms.
Shamanistic Magic: Communing with the spirits a shaman can summon powerful allies, Heal allies and even curse others. Each spirit requires a ritual to summon. Rituals can be time consuming especially curses.
Alchemy: Alchemy is different from other magics because it comes from the outside world instead of within and because it comes from the outside world it can be learned by anyone. Alchemy is the magic of using various chemicals and elements together to create powerful spells. The limits of Alchemy are unknown since it all depends on experimentation, knowledge, time, and resources. Alchemists can create potions, powders, salves, and smoke to cure many different diseases or augment a person (say by giving them tougher skin). They can also induce other states of mind temporarily or permanently. Another common Alchemy practice is to have slips of paper with characters written in a special magical ink. These slips of paper can then cast powerful spells depending on what was written on them. They can explode, cause a gust of wind, freeze something, create water, melt rock or metal, bind a ghost to their dead body, paralyze someone, or any number of other things. Many Alchemists spend a lot of time studying the stars, by doing this they can predict the future to some degree. Finally some of the best Alchemists spend all their lives trying to create a potion for Immortality, most fail, but there is still a legend that some have succeeded and this makes more wish to create the potion for themselves. Since Alchemy can be learned by anyone it can also be learned by someone who already knows another form of magic.
How To Play
You start by making a character, and then post your character's profile in the "Characters Forum". Then you go and post in one of the places threads as your character and begin Role Playing. When traveling between cities you can either post at least once in every place between you and your destination or you can say that you had a safe trip and skip right ahead to your destination. It is pretty simple. If you are still confused you can look at some other posts.
Epic Role Plays
Our Guild has great Role Players and high quality RPs for them to participate in.
