Hitotoki: the title of a rare being whose body is not effected by time. In exchange for youth and vanity, the Hitotoki barely lives past 20 but in those years, he or she is an idol among mortals.
The Hitotoki is neither human nor demon but has the ability to appear human and have unnatural abilities like demons: the power to change their body's appearance. Hitotokis play with time, they control time...but only for themself.
Hitotokis, being worshipped for their celestial gift and statuesque apperances, are constantly in travel to appease the requests from the world's citizens to at least lay their eyes on the unusual being. With this attraction, comes obsession...another reason a Hitotoki must keep on the move. Guardians are chosen, the strongest of humans or the most dangerous of demons, by the Hitotoki to protect them whatever unholy reasons another person might have to capture them.
Eighteen years have passed in one of the Hitotoki's life, protected by her demon leopard, and life could not be any better.
Hitotoki has been traveling across country since the day her guardian Kouken could crawl. Despite the risk of choosing a guardian so young, Kouken matured quickly to keep up with his mistress. The reason for choosing Kouken is something Toki has never revealed to him...that at his birth, the elder of his tribe had a vision of death for Hitotoki. Kouken's tribe were ready to slaughter the infant. She refused to believe such an innocent child would do such a thing and wanted to prove that she was right.
She protected him until he could do the same for her. Knowing her own fate, both Hitotoki and Kouken go about life as if they have eternity...but with suspicious movements following them, rumor has it the Hitotoki's power may be more than just a sef-induced ability.
