DainTrinity Neither... Hating someone without knowing why is ignorance in itself. Look at the poll. If you know they aren't being themselves- meaning you've seen them act "normal" before- or If someone completely changes their personal beliefs, and clothes-you've seen them before they've changed-just to "fit in" with everyone else. There is no ignorance involved in it... Ahem back on Topic... I hate people who try to just fit in with everybody else, Life is about making a name for yourself! Being different and accepting who you are is just one simple part of it... and those who fail to relize this I just pity...Its just sad really...

I meant ignorance in that we don't know why they would do that, why they would want to. Have you ever seen a Muslim pretend to not be one just to keep themselves from being pelted from rocks? Sometimes life is just easier being what you want others want you to be... Another less extreme example, what if your parents deviate you into a career path? Maybe it's been in the generations and it isn't you but you pretend it is... There's always more to it than just saying that, you shouldn't ask such a vague question if you're referring to the very narrow mindset of adolescents.

There's always more to it than just saying that, you shouldn't ask such a vague question if you're referring to the very narrow mindset of adolescents. If your truely a dedicated Muslim/Christian/Baptist/whatever, you would take the abuse anyway. No one should have to become something they don't want to just to make everyone else happy. I say take the rocks, and pray for the ones throwing them. Life is hard, and for some its harder than others... But we should confront these hardships, not just stand by and hope for it to pass. If you let this go on, It would only get worse from there. People would become more and more ignorant... No one would learn that what they were doing is wrong, GOD HIMSELF DECLARED TO LOVE THY NEIGHBOR. So the ones pelting those of different faiths...due to the fact of their different faith, have just sinned... They seem so devoted to God yet they can't manage to obey the simplest of rules... That is true ignorance. Even if someone pulled a gun to my head and threatened to kill me unless I denounced my Beliefs in Christianity, I would say no, and let them kill me. Do not be a conformist- dear lord is that word used alot, but I'm using it in a proper context- and stand up for your beliefs. If your raised in a Catholic family and they teach you that being gay is a sin... Lets say you turn out to be gay, so.. What do you do? Live your entire life as a lie? Marry a woman, have children, create the " perfect catholic family, even though it makes you unhappy? No one should be FORCED to be/do/act like anyone/anything/anyway, just because someone disapproves...No. You confront your family, and if they don't support you, then you should have nothing to do with them. They too are ignorant, and until they can learn to live with the fact that your gay, then they are no family to you. My point is dress how you want, be who you want to be, act how you want, say what you want, and be the best damned person you can possibly be. You have one life, so you best damn well make a good use of it.

I understand from your perspective as your life has already been (as short as that is) would disagree with what I say, but the truth is pain hurts and people avoid pain the best they can. Whether or not it's ignorant in itself doesn't really affect that it happens no matter what.

That's certainly not true. I can gaurantee that simply being yourself does not get you more friends; for some, like myself, it works quite the opposite. Mind you, I don't often go to the other end of the scale where I pretend to be something I'm not.
