The World

Terra, the blue Earth. Two hundred years ago humanity came to this strange world. So earth-like yet, so strange. An environment that is based around water. Vast forest are separated by even greater and as yet unexplored plains. We, two hundred years ago built vast cities to house us. For about fifty years we were in paradise. Then, without warning disaster struck. Adult members of the colonies fell ill and eventually died of starvation or worse. Within a year society had been torn apart. The great ship above Terra the Vajra the seed bearing ship suffered a catastrophic failure and was forced to disperse it's major components across the planet to be recovered by the colony.

Now, decades later the children of children live on. Separated like so many seeds they live out lives in the shattered remains of the once great cities. One in particular has marched on bravely. This city now called the Last City remains to this day relatively vibrant. Some of it's once miraculous technology even remains. However there is a key difference between these colonists and the rest of humanity. No one lives past the age of twenty-five. This has forced them to live harsher lives than their forebears. Without the aid of modern convenience children forced into adulthood. Their is hope however. Pieces of the great Ship have been recovered and knowledge revealed.

The world of Terra is ruled by the flow of water. Rains are sparse across much of the planet and prevent ease of access for much of the year. However periodically the rains sweep in and will last for weeks causing massive floodplains to form and saturating the land. The 'Wood' as it is known is a complex ecosystem that makes use of this fact. Located within a massive depression formed by the surrounding hills this area is filled with plant-like organisms that collect the water into massive underground pools. prowling the surface are predators and scavengers looking for an easy meal in the form of drowned animals or creatures stuck in thick mud. The Apex predator of this ecology is the Yower. A massive reptile like creature that fills a similar niche to Earth based big cats. Several varieties of pseudo-fish are known to exist. They seem to have rudimentary lungs and some ground based motility.

The periodic rains that are prevalent to this area seem to be a key part of the Woods ecological system. Because of the massive amounts of Rainfall that occur flooding should be a constant worry. Instead the Wood already set within a large basin absorbs much of the river's runoff and stores it away in Cenotes and local plant life formed wells. This results in the Wood being extremely marshy year round but, the City itself safe due to the combined benefits of being built onto a hillside and the protection of the Wood's naturally Hydrophyllic ecology.
