Bipolar 1 is the common one we know about. Bipolar 2 is almost the same, except type 2's get angry or irritable depressed manias, rather than happy manias. It's like the depression emotion with the manic energy. My dad's a type 2, but I'm a type 1.

Oh well... from what you said, I'm thinking I'm bipolar 1, and like your dad, mine is bipolar 2.

I tend to have long manic cycles and very very short (half hour tops) depressive cycles. It's fun.

Quote: In Bipolar I, the patient experiences more episodes of depression than of mania. One only has to undergo a single episode of mania to be characterized with Bipolar I. The depression may not be caused by stress and can happen without a reason. The person experiencing depression may not know why he or she is feeling sad, tired, and indecisive. Also, the period of depression may last for a short amount of time or for many months. During mania, the person feels invincible, which can lead to dangerous behavior. Another type of bipolar disorder is Bipolar II. They experience depression that is similar to Bipolar I, but the episodes of mania are much less severe. This type of bipolar disorder is most common in women, especially after having a baby. One other kind of bipolar disorder is mixed bipolar disorder. It is usually exemplified by periods of depression and mania rapidly alternating throughout the day, for at least one week. This kind of bipolar disorder can lead to hospitalization if daily functioning is impaired. The fourth type of bipolar disorder is rapid-cycling bipolar disorder. A person is diagnosed as having it when they experience at least four episodes of depression, mania, or both, within a twelve month period. There is a short time lapse between the moods a person feels during rapid-cycling bipolar disorder (Mayo Clinic). Rapid-cycling bipolar disorder is most common in females. About 70-92% of rapid-cycling patients are females (Figure 1). That's the information I got from doing my research report on bipolar disorder. Hope that isn't too long to read.. sweatdrop whee

I'm still confused as to what I am. This whole thing is confusing... I don't even know how to explain what I feel. I don't know what type I am. I have super rapid cycles, and I get REALLY depressed a lot for no reason.
I'm often suicidal.
Nobody in my family knows this. xp

I have super rapid cycles, and I get REALLY depressed a lot for no reason. I'm often suicidal. Nobody in my family knows this. xp Dittio! I've been diganosed as BPII (it might help if I didn't have dyslexia too... damned long complacated words...) I have rapid cycles, lasting from an hour to a week, and I am MAJORLY depressed! I've attemped 6 times... Ugh... not fun. I'm actually in the eye-of-the-storm right now, meaning I'm in the middle of a longer cycle, but I've got a little composure... It is really diffacult to tell the difference between the four types if you haven't spent 12 years learning about it... I just know that type 2 you have shorter cycles, and have deeper depression, and sometimes less rage. I dunno if that helps....
