Hey everyone. Lately I've been thinking about ways to make the guild more fun and also ways to attract new members. I've come up with a few ideas that may just kill those two birds with one stone!
So, we have a few in-guild activities. Game chatrooms, Secret Santa, Theme Day, and so on. But what about outside the guild? You know, that dark scary region of Gaia the Bonanza only encounters on gift-giving holidays. My plan is to spread the 'nanza cheer to the rest of Gaia! The Gaians need us and we will deliver, even if we have to die trying (okayI'mbeingdramaticlawl)!
Keep in mind that these ideas are in their infant stages and therefore don't have much organization. Suggestions about how to improve them would be awesome. <3
1. NEW USER CARE PACKAGES
I'm pretty sure I've seen this in some charities, but I doubt more generosity would be a problem! For these welcome gifts, we'd include a few items useful to new Gaians: some practical, nice-looking clothes (including one hat, top, bottom, shoe, accessory, and item), game tokens, fish, a piece of furniture, and maybe even a cheap item from the Cash Shop if anyone's willing.
As for choosing which users to give these out to, perhaps we'd set up a thread in the Charity forum. Or maybe we could just raid the Welcome forum by storm! If you guys like this idea or have a suggestion for it, definitely post about it.
2. VICTIM OF THE MONTH (title pending)
We probably all have friends outside of the guild who we adore and think deserve to be rewarded for just being awesome. I suggest we make a thread in the guild and nominate one of our favorite Gaians to be hailed with gifts for a day.
The person nominating their friend will have to provide their username and list reasons why they think that Gaian deserves to be the Bonanza's Victim of the Month. When the nominations are finished, I'll open up a poll and we can all vote for our favorite nominee. The winner will be attacked with gifts from all of us! They'll probably be a little confused, but we can tell them afterwards that their friend nominated them. 3nodding
3. FORUM RAIDS
This concept is pretty easy to explain. 1. Pick a forum. 2. Infiltrate it with gifts. 3. Pat yourselves on the back for brightening users' days!
This might be a little tricky since we are The GCD Bonanza after all, but I think it could work out! Forum rivalries are silly anyway.
4. A MURDER MYSTERY suggested by iCrescendo
All I know about this one is that it would be one heck of a lot of fun. The trouble is, I have NO idea how to set this up. Anyone willing to adopt this idea?
So anyway... post suggestions and project ideas of your own! Hopefully this will work out because I'm certain things like this would be SUPER fun! I'm excited, anyway. xD

I think sending wingding shirts would be good for the care packages. They're cheap. I couldn't afford to buy them though.
We could do more contest-type stuff too, like avatar contests and stuff. Maybe when we get enough people, we can do a murder mystery. That would be so cool. xP

A murder mystery WOULD be fun, though I'd have no idea how to set it up. I've never taken place in one of those! Contests would be great as well -- I love the idea of an Avatar contest especially. The subforums are kind of ghost towns right now, though, and I think they'd probably be good in the Games section. But hopefully they'll be brought back to life soon!
As for the wingding shirts, I'm not exactly sure what those are? Ehehe I'm an inactive loser.

They are these 49 cent evolving items from the cash shop.
Basically, they're shirts that... um, exaggerate the proportions of the avatar. It's just some plain shirts and stuff, with wingding font symbols on them. xP

I wouldn't know how to set up a murder mystery, but it sounds fun... we could dress our avatars up like the characters we're playing.

All right, I think I'm going to start setting up a Care/Welcome Package thread in the Charity forum. However, I'd love to have some thread moderators to help me. Is anyone interested? It'll take a while to set up the thread probably (I need to come up with rules, get some graphics, etc.) so all help would be loved. If anyone really likes this idea, definitely reply and we can discuss it! smile
As for the other three, I think they belong in the guild forums themselves, so hopefully you'll see them in the future as well. As always though, if you have ideas or suggestions tell me!

Okay, cool! Thanks! biggrin I'll probably set up a thread in the guild for the people who are going to work on it with me to brainstorm for ideas and stuff after one or two more people come on board as well. We'll see what happens from there.
