As in, general discussion, the main forum.
Some troll took a picture I had in my signature of myself and posted it everywhere. And some other people joined in.
Apparently I look like I have down syndrome. Many 'GDers' think I am very ugly. Everything I have always thought is wrong with my face has been confirmed by these anonymous strangers that are the filth of the GD.
Brings back lovely insecurities. I've actually gained a lot of confidence back in these few months, the months I wasn't going to school, and what happened last night really took me back a few steps.
They don't know that it got to me, because I kept cool the whole time it was happening. The beauty of the internet, no one could actually see that I was shaking trying to keep tears back.
A lot of people will laugh, just glad that it isn't them.
What do you do when this happens?
I'm not used to people dissecting my appearance, saying whats wrong with it. People just don't say those things to your face. I haven't experienced bullying before, so in that way, I am new. It may also be a good thing, because I can try my best to deal with it the right way.
I know that if this happened to someone else, I would tell them to ignore what those people were saying, and that it doesn't matter. People who bully others are pieces of s**t with nothing in their lives to be proud of.
But it still makes you think. Is this actually how everyone sees me?
It scares me, because I am new to my school. Do they all see me as ugly, and just plain weird looking too?
And my friends, the people I've known for ages. Do they think this too?
I know it is a really superficial fear. But being a teenage girl, it is a common one.
Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Don't listen to them, I personally think you're beautiful. Really. You have the most captivating eyes I have ever seen, your hair is beautiful. And trust me hun, you do not look like you have Down's Syndrome in the least bit. I work with people with Down's and you do not have the look at all.
Remember it's the GD. They are asses in the GD, that's why I don't go there anymore. They are a bunch of trolls who decide to pick apart people cause they have nothing better to do with their lives. Most of them will lie, and say that they think someone is "Hideous" when really, if you go to their profiles and look at their pictures they aren't that good looking to begin with either.
Personally I had someone post in the GD at one point that I'm Lesbian and posted a whole bunch of s**t they claimed were quotes from me that weren't from me at all... I didn't listen to them, didn't let it get to me. They had their fun, then it was done.
I'd report all of them if I were you.... I report people in the GD all the time. If they are using your picture it's against the ToS cause it's YOUR picture to use, not theirs. So personally I'd report all of them and let Gaia ban them all. They're trolls after all, so no one wants them here.

Actually, the first (and only) friend I have at my new school has down syndrome. : ) My mother also has worked with people with special needs since I can remember, so I find nothing weird about it. It's sad that some people do. The thing is, I'm sure people would judge me because of that too, when I know in my heart that there is nothing wrong with it. A person who is not accepting of people with disabilities is definitely not in any way better than a person who is. I pretty much agree with everything you said about the GD. I really hate that place, I just go there once in awhile, because sometimes there are interesting or funny things to read. I wonder why they even do things like that. You have to be a really shitty human being to find that entertaining. The reason it got to me like I said, is because I have had very bad self esteem. And it sort of brought me down again. But I already feel better about the whole thing. : )

Yeah, I coach in a program called TOPSoccer... The Outreach Program for Soccer. It's a program for children with mental and physical disablities to play soccer. So I have kids on my teams (Yes teams, I coach three teams) with down's, autism, muscular dystrophy, blind, deaf, etc. I love the kids I coach to death, becuase they are so pure and accepting of anyone and everyone.
I really don't understand how people can troll. Like the worst I do is tough love in the LI and LD... I cannot intentionally be mean to someone like that, I don't understand how anyone can be mean like that and find it funny... It bothers me a great deal when people find joy in being mean, like bullies.
And I totally understand what you are saying about low self esteem... And I'm glad you are already feeling better cause I looked at the threads, and they were just being GD trolls. In fact you got a lot of comments that you were pretty. Ignore the mean comments, accept the good. Cause you are beautiful. Remember that. (:

Unfortunately people do that for entertainment... My own mother is guilty of this behavior nearly everyday, the only reason peoples remarks don't get to me is I've been told these things as long as I remember... So I honestly don't have ANY good advice, other then block it out or kick their asses? GD is crap anyway.

Oy, I have so much catching up to do around here. . .
So, you noticed a few imperfections about your pretty face and some jerks harped on it. No face is perfect. Greek statues may be fun to look at, but the beauty of the human form lies in the subtle imperfections.
Now, that sounds like a lot of hooey, but let's have a case to prove my point. There's a Japanese singer whom a lot of people find something more than handsome. He's got a lazy eye, a few crooked teeth and a wildly successful career as a model and actor to go with his nice little job in one of Japan's top bands.
When Poe described a beautiful woman in one of his stories, he took great pains to describe her imperfections in order to give the reader a feeling of her beauty. If he tried to describe Venus, the reader would have been bored to hell. So your face is imperfect. Someday someone will fall in love with every damned blemish on it.

From what I've read about you, you seem to be a really nice person. About the GD, I've learned from over 3 years of experience hanging out there, you have to be very secure with yourself to even post in there. They WILL tear someone apart just by what they see or read. I don't condone what they do, I'm just stating the facts.
I understand where your coming from, when it comes to trying to believe what people on the internet say about you and to you. But take it for what its worth, they are 20-30 year olds who live in their moms attack and eat cheetos all day and can't get a date. They simply are losers. Don't listen to what they say, they are just trying to make themselves feel better.
