Okay I'm wondering what everyone gave up for Lent. This is particulary a Catholic thing to do,but I have known several Christians to do so. Let's see I gave up cussing for Lent. You would be suprised by how many times I cuss normaly in one day. Normaly I don't even cuss on Sundays,but I'm thinking if I give up cussing for Lent it will become a habit and I won't cuss again. Hopefully.

im not catholic (any more) im a christain and well were going on a lent i guess.. but my pastor calls it a fast.. he called the whole church into a fast from negative words, meaning we cant speak or say anything negative for 20 days

Like I said not everyone celebrates Lent which is cool.

I gave up instant Messaging, and I'm working on reading my Bible more often.
Because I haven't really seen it mentioned, Lent is a time of reflection, abstinence, and prayer. In Biblical times, the number 40 referred to periods of repentance. For instance, the epic tempest of Noah's tale lasts 40 days and 40 nights, The Jews wandered in the desert for 40 years, and of course, the model for Lent, Jesus' retreat into the desert was for 40 days.
Lent isn't only about giving something up. It's also acceptable to add something into your daily life that draws you closer to God such as extra community service or taking a time out of everyday for prayer. Lent is an excellent time to get into the habit of praying the rosary, or so my Grandmother says.
And remember: Just because you might goof up on your Lenten promise does not mean that it's a failure. Thank God and get back on track for the next day. :3

I've cussed accidently like 3 times today.

After reading all those I'm going to try harder in school than before. Before I just did my homework the next day o now I'm going to try to get it done the day I receive it.
