I just found this on Wikipedia on "Electronic Gaming Monthly", on their March issues, they jot down the "Game of the Year", and they have since 1989.
Here's this list of "Games of the Years 1989-2007" Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_Gaming_Monthly#Game_of_the_Year
1989 - Ghouls n Ghosts (Sega Genesis)
1990 - Strider (Sega Genesis)
1991 - Sonic The Hedgehog (Sega Genesis)
1992 - Street Fighter II (Super NES)
1993 - Samurai Shodown (Neo Geo)
1994 - Donkey Kong Country (Super NES)
1995 - Twisted Metal (PlayStation)
1996 - Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64)
1997 - GoldenEye 007 (Nintendo 64)
1998 - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64)
1999 - Soul Calibur (Dreamcast)
2000 - Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (PlayStation, Dreamcast)
2001 - Halo: Combat Evolved (Xbox)
2002 - Metroid Prime (GameCube)
2003 - Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube)
2004 - Halo 2 (Xbox)
2005 - Resident Evil 4 (GameCube, PS2)
2006 - The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii, GameCube)
2007 - Bioshock (Xbox 360, PC)
Do you own any of the following that are considered the "Game of the Year"?
I own:
Strider (1990) It's a pretty fun game.
Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) Needs no introduction, just incredible.
Donkey Kong Country (1994) Classic.
Zelda: Ocarina of Time (199 cool A little bit too overreated, but still pretty good.
Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii version, 2006) "I DID own it... til' I had to sell it away for money I needed".
So in total, I own 4 (was 5) out of all of them mentioned.
